Tribute performing ther best pice ever. "New Views" Live from Markethalle Hamburg 13 June 1985. It's 28 minuites long so i have to cut it down to 4 pices. This is Part one. The accoustic part. Tribute was formed in Norrköping in 1982 by multi-instrumentalist Gideon Andersson and Christer Rhedin. It all began when they got the idea of putting on a concert in Hörsalen in Norrköping on the theme "A Tribute To The Music". Christer and Gideon had written all the music and began to gather various musicians at the concert. The whole thing was intended as a one-off projects, but they managed to fill the entire Hörsalen, so after the gig (28 / 5 -82), they decided to continue. They recorded some songs in a studio in Münster and sent around 115 demos and got in contact with the German company, ARC Music. The result was the album "New Views". "New Views" was a well-done symphonic rock album with a style that reminds a lot about Mike Oldfield and Tangerine Dream. Years 85-88 became Tributes steadiest period. The band consisted then in addition to Gideon and Christer, Ake Zied by guitarist, Pierre Moerlen on drums, Dag Westling on guitar, flute and vocals, sisters Lena and Nina on vocals, percussion and saxophone. This setting record discs, "Breaking Barriers" and "Live The Melody the Beat the Heart." Christer, Ake, Lena and Nina also appeared on album "Breakthrough" by Pierre Moerlens Gong. As early as 1982 Christer and Gideon went down to the Roskilde Festival to listen to there old idol. They crept down to the festival area early in the morning to check out the soundcheck with the hope to get a glimpse of Gideon's old favorite drummer Pierre Moerlen. They went down to riot fence and got there views on Moerlen and asked if he wanted to come down and talk a while. They then went straight to the point and said they needed a new drummer and wondered if they could send a demo. Pierre, who wondered what this was for crazy people gave them his old address for security reasons. Through directory assistance they found his real address and sent the demo there. Gideon and Christer later decided to go down to Paris to seek out Moerlen. When they got there so he had typically gone on tour, but they got hold of his brother Benoit instead. He had listened to their recording and thought it sounded good. When Tribute a few years later (1985) were placed on German tour 'of 33 gigs booked jumped drummer Ulf Andersson of. They then sent down a copy of "New Views" to Pierre Moerlen and called him a few days later to ask if he wanted to hang on. And, boom so he stood there at the airport with the cymbal bag and sticks. He would actually have gone to Japan to play with a chamber orchestra, but chose instead to go on tour with Norrkoping Band Tribute. Last gig with this composition was made at Kungsträdgården in Stockholm, the summer-88. Christer began studying music theory and routing in Arvika and Malmö. Gideon started making soundtrack to some children's series. Ake came with Pierre Moerlen Gong's on tour and played with them in 1988 album "Second Wind". In recent years, also live album "Full Circle Live -88" come out with Ake on guitar. 1990, Gideon re-energize a new Tribute plate. "Terra Incognita" was more or less his own flat, but also the Dag and sisters Lena and Nina attended. Otherwise there is various studiomusicans attending. They set up an additional concert in Himmelstalundshallen where both Janne Schaffer and Bjorn J: son Lindh attended. After it was Tribute down. Gideon and Dag has continued with Irish folk music in the band "Quilty" which has released two CDs. Christer is now called Joseph, and works as a conductor.
