Patong Bangla Road Nightlife - Phuket 2016 - VLOG 48
A video of a night out at Bangla Road, Patong. This is the first of 2 parts and the footage from this video ends at midnight.
This was my first night out in Patong for over 6 years. I purposely did zero research on the bars as I prefer to see what is good with my own eyes (that accounts for some of the walking parts).
A lot of bars have changed and a lot of my old favourite beer bars from years ago have now bit the dust.

For most of this video I parked myself at the Crazy Horse Circus bar, this was mainly due to seeing the girl at the start jiggling around dancing on a fitness board. I couldn't resist taking a closer look ;)
I've chopped up the video a bit due to an overload of getting stuck in that bar with the Thai girls dancing.

Patong Bangla Road Nightlife - Phuket 2016 - VLOG 63
A video taken in March 2016 of my last night out at Bangla Road, Patong.
On this day I'd just found out that a Pattaya video on this channel had gone viral with 1 million views in 2 days. Needless to say I was very happy and went out drinking early to celebrate. This accounts for me being terribly worse for wear by the end of the evening!
I started drinking early in the Kangaroo bar (a longstanding and highly recommended bar) and ended up turning the camera off and just having some great banter with a load of random Aussie blokes.
Later on the evening was a blur where I stumbled from bar to bar in a drunken haze (so that accounts for this video being a bit more random than normal).

Full walk up Bangla Road Walking Street late on a busy Sunday night. Filmed 6 March 2016.
The video starts at the quieter beach side, and finishes near the cabaret ladyboys.

Patong Beach (Thai หาดป่าตอง) refers to the beach and town on Phuket's west coast. It is the main tourist resort in Phuket, and contains an important center of Phuket's nightlife and inexpensive shopping. The beach became popular with Western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous hotels are located there and the area has expanded into a large tourist mecca.
Patong Beach is famous for its nightlife and 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) beach that runs the entire length of Patong’s western side. Nightlife is centered on two main areas Bangla Road and 'Paradise Complex', with Bangla Road being predominantly straight and Paradise Complex gay. Both roads are lined with many bars, discotheques and go go bars. Prostitution in Thailand is illegal but tolerated as is the case with Patong Beach, especially on Bangla Road where there are many older Western men drinking with young Thai women and transvestites. Most discos in Patong charge a 100 baht admission fee but rather than being a cover charge, this is actually a drink minimum since you get a voucher and most clubs charge 100 baht for almost all drinks.

A video of a night out at Bangla Road, Patong. This is the second of 2 parts and the footage from this video starts around midnight.
This was my first night out in Patong for over 6 years. I purposely did zero research on the bars as I prefer to see what is good with my own eyes (that accounts for some of the walking parts).
A lot of bars have changed and a lot of my old favourite beer bars from years ago have now bit the dust.

For most of this video I parked myself at the Crazy Horse Circus bar, this was mainly due to seeing the girl at the start jiggling around dancing on a fitness board. I couldn't resist taking a closer look ;)
I've chopped up the video a bit due to an overload of getting stuck in that bar with the Thai girls dancing.

On this day I'd just found out that a Pattaya video on this channel had gone viral with 1 million views in 2 days. Needless to say I was very happy and went out drinking early to celebrate. This accounts for me being terribly worse for wear by the end of the evening!
I started drinking early in the Kangaroo bar (a longstanding and highly recommended bar) and ended up turning the camera off and just having some great banter with a load of random Aussie blokes.
Later on the evening was a blur where I stumbled from bar to bar in a drunken haze (so that accounts for this video being a bit more random than normal).

You may have heard about it, or seen photos of it, but there is nothing like experiencing the 'water play' of Thailand's Songkran festival.
Every April, the country celebrates its new year by descending into a watery chaos. From the smallest child to the oldest inhabitant, irrespective of religious or cultural background, everyone takes to the street. The original practice of sprinkling water over your nearest and dearest as a sign of good luck, has morphed into hoses in the face, buckets of iced water over your head and water pistol wars.
Tourist, local, ex-pat, monk, bartender, policeman, ping-pong girl... they're all at it.
This year, we went to Patong's famous Bangla Road to see what all the fuss is about. Armed with waterproof cameras and water guns, we went into battle. Drenched, strafed, bombed and blasted for five hours, it was bloody hilarious.
This is a quick glimpse of the craziness. We will post more footage in our full-length sailing log in the coming weeks.

Please enjoy my latest travel Vlog of the Patong Merlin Hotel....please susbscribe to my channel to be automatically notified of the next Vlog We stayed at The Patong Merlin Hotel over Christmas and New Year 2015 to 2016 arriving on Christmas Day. The staff greeted us with a seat at reception to check in and a cold drink which was nice. Our room was in Block 7 which was very quiet and away from the noise of The Hard Rock Hotel. I would recommend requesting this by email which is what I did and they were pleased to help. That is if you don't like noisy music late at night from the Hard Rock Hotel next door. The room was spacious and the bath and shower were fairly new as was the room so we were pleased. The bed was very comfortable and the air-conditioning was great so we slept very well... -

Travel Phuket Thailand, Ep(8/8). Bangla Road party area, Tiger Disco Bar (before it burned down), Hollywood Night Club, Mui Thai boxing, and Patong Beach, Sabai Sabai Restaurant (very good food, clean kitchen, and affordable), last visit to the Shooting Cafe. Made some great international friends. We stayed at the Siam Palm Residence luxury apartments.
Travelled with my friend D. We hired some locals as tour guides and translators at the start of the trip, but was not necessary. Thai people are very nice and many spoke English in tourist areas. As long as you respect the local culture and be polite they will take care of you.

The 5 main travel tips:
1. Don't drink the local water, try stick to bottled or boiled water only.
2. Be careful where you eat. Food poisoning is common with unsanitary kitchens or improperly cooked food. Especially old sea food. Check it is a clean place before you order food.
3. Do NOT buy illicit drugs! Besides being illegal and very bad for your health, usually it will be a set-up or scam by the local police, or a gang. You will get arrested and have to pay a huge fine, end up in jail for real, or be threatened and robbed by a local gang.
4. Don't do jet skis. There was a popular scam of jet ski gangs extorting tourist, claiming you damaged the jet ski after hiring it. They would then threaten and intimidate you until you paid up. Ask around about what the current scams, and local gangs to be aware of. A couple of friends did do jet ski's without any trouble though.
5. Don't be afraid to haggle and negotiate prices, but be polite and respectful. Shop around to get an idea of the market prices. You can always go back to that vendor or seller later.

Downstairs you will find loads of fresh food: seafood, meats, and fruits & vegetables, as well as some prepared foods, ready to eat there, or to take away. Upstairs there are shops selling clothing, souvenirs and the like, and a huge food court selling dozens of authentic Thai dishes including pad Thai, som tam, fried chicken, soups and noodle dishes. And you can buy whatever seafood, meats or vegetables you want to eat downstairs and take them upstairs, and they will cook them for you. It's a great place for eating authentic Thai cuisine in Patong Phuket Thailand.

Please enjoy my latest travel Vlog of the Patong Merlin Hotel....please susbscribe to my channel to be automatically notified of the next Vlog
We stayed at The Patong Merlin Hotel over Christmas and New Year 2015 to 2016 arriving on Christmas Day.
The staff greeted us with a seat at reception to check in and a cold drink which was nice.
Our room was in Block 7 which was very quiet and away from the noise of The Hard Rock Hotel. I would recommend requesting this by email which is what I did and they were pleased to help.
That is if you don't like noisy music late at night from the Hard Rock Hotel next door.
The room was spacious and the bath and shower were fairly new as was the room so we were pleased. The bed was very comfortable and the air-conditioning was great so we slept very well.
As we were mainly diving we needed to be up early most mornings so this was important to us.
The staff were very friendly, some spoke more english than others.
We never had a problem finding room around one of the 4 pools on the days we were there and the food was very good when we ate at the hotel. Its a perfect place for someone that wants to be near the nightlife and the beach, but it is very manic once you get out into Patong so it was nice to be able to find the peace back at the hotel.
The only noise that we suffered was from a group of lads that were a stag party who got a bit drunk one day around the pool. But this is a party town so it will attract partygoers.
The hotel put on an amazing New Year Party for all the hotel guests for free. The food was unlimited, all you had to pay for was your drink. They were dressing up the hotel for a few days before and setting up a stage and the show they put on was brilliant.
Ii is quite an experience seeing the New Year in here as there were thousands of Chinese Lanterns floating across Patong as well as all the fireworks from every hotel which went on until about 3am.
The hotel is large enough to accommodate every one and it never really seemed crowded. You are literally in walking distance to everything unless you are a diver.
In which case you get picked up from your hotel and driven to the dive boats about 30 mins away.
The free wifi here was very good in reception with lots of comfortable sofas to sit in, but in the rooms the wifi dropped out a lot.

•Deevana Patong Resort & Spa:We stayed at this resort & totally enjoyed it,the staff & the resort is great for family vacations.My 2 year old boy had fun at kids pool & kids play area at the resort & the staff & thai people are very baby friendly they love kids.
Phuket’s most popular destination. It was calm - the perfect thing needed for a relaxing holiday getaway.

It is not clear whether the test was authentic, and if it was, whether it will be considered a success by the North.
