Thomas Erwin "Tom" Zenk (born November 30, 1958) is an American retired professional wrestler and bodybuilder. he is best known for his appearances with professional wrestling promotions the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Zenk started wrestling in 1984 for the AWA, before moving to the NWA's Pacific Northwest territory. Here he feuded with Bobby Jaggers. At Rick Martel's request, Zenk moved to Montreal to work for the International Wrestling Association (IWA). Here, the two formed The Can-Am Connection, which later appeared in the WWF.
Zenk joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) with Martel in late 1986, as The Can-Am Connection. They defeated the tag team of Don Muraco and Bob Orton, Jr. in the opening bout of WrestleMania III, on March 29, 1987. The popular team pushed as the possible successors to The Hart Foundation as the World Tag Team Champions, but this push ended abruptly when Zenk left the promotion.
A shoot in professional wrestling is any unplanned, unscripted or real-life occurrence within a wrestling event. The name does not originate from "shooting in" for a takedown, as in amateur wrestling, but rather, it is a carny term shortened from "straight shooting" which originally referred to a gun in a carnival target shooting game which did not have its sights fixed (terminology such as this reflecting the professional wrestling industry's roots in traveling carnivals). This term has come to mean a legit attack or fight in professional wrestling and its meaning has broadened to include unscripted events in general. The opposite of a shoot is a work.
Professional wrestling is staged entertainment rather than a sports competition. As such, virtually everything in pro wrestling is worked (a part of the show), and shoots rarely occur. Shoots in general are against the nature of the business, similar to an actor ad-libbing or dropping character during a performance. Performers who shoot during a wrestling event are often punished (often by lower pay or relegation to opening bouts) or even fired, since it is thought that they cannot be trusted to act according to the bookers' wishes. Shoots can also occur when wrestlers stop cooperating in a match. This may occur to teach one of the wrestlers "a lesson" for whatever reason.

Jim Cornette describes one of wrestling's most memorable botches when Tom Zenk (as the Z-Man) faced off against Prime Time Brian Lee. Jimmy's description is funny enough but I've included the incident for your viewing pleasure.

With slow motion and repeat for your viewing pleasure and omitting his tag who for some reason didn't catch my eye. When he clawed his pectoral muscles time stood still but when he lifted the Minnesota bodybuilder up by them I needed a cigarette but I was too young to smoke, well up there anyway.
There is just something about this squash, maybe it was one of the first real squashes I paid attention to growing up BUT really, the look on Meng's face as he goes after Mr. Minnesota just working him over at will. Not the deadliest, not the best finisher but Tom in those periwinkle blues and prolly the leanest of any match I've seen, to me it was a great archetypal, evil vs good and sealed My Wrestling Obsession.

Yes you are
Listen
I'm in the driveway
Hey what are you talking about?
I saw you on the lawn
Hey you
Hey what?
Will you will you get off my front lawn with your car?
Ahh shut up
What are you doin'?
Hey he can't talk to him like that
Yeah what's goin' on?
I'm gonna call the police
Hey listen
What are you talking about?
I saw the whole thing and you're innocent
You keep out of it
Come on guys let's take off
What are you talking about?
Ah why don't you go arrest me from here?
Whew it's time for me to meditate
What time is it?
How long has it been?
Bubbles and ripples floatin' through my mind
I must have drifted away
Since I sat down
Where have I been?
The mantra my mantra must have took me away
It must have took me away
Maharishi gave it to me
And I wonder if it set me free
And it did
And he'll tell you "sometimes it goes real fast and other times it goes
real slow
Any way you do it it's bound to work I know"
One two three four
Transcendental meditation should be part of your time
It's simple it's easy as making this rhyme
Transcendental meditation really works for me good
