The Mexican Revolution (Spanish: Revolución mexicana) was a major armed struggle that started in 1910, with an uprising led by Francisco I. Madero against longtime autocrat Porfirio Díaz, and lasted for the better part of a decade until around 1920. Over time the Revolution changed from a revolt against the established order to a multi-sided civil war. This armed conflict is often categorized as the most important sociopolitical event in Mexico and one of the greatest upheavals of the 20th century.
After prolonged struggles, its representatives produced the Mexican Constitution of 1917. The Revolution is generally considered to have lasted until 1920, although the country continued to have sporadic, but comparatively minor, outbreaks of warfare well into the 1920s. The Cristero War of 1926 to 1929 was the most significant relapse into bloodshed.
The Revolution led to the creation of the Partido Nacional Revolucionario ("National Revolutionary Party") in 1929; it was renamed the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (Institutional Revolutionary Party) (PRI) in 1946. Under a variety of leaders, the PRI held power until the general election of 2000.

Esquivel Lucatero, who was with his brother, was inside of a pick-up truck as he was interviewed by a reporter from the Tierra Caliente region, the area where the legislator was from. Investigators say four men drove up in a white automobile and forced Esquivel Lucatero and his companions to exit the pick-up truck, and forced them to lie face down on the ground before attacking them with machetes.
Paramedics who were called to the scene by eyewitnesses transported the men to the private Star Medica clinic. However, Esquivel Lucatero was pronounced dead two hours later.
Esquivel Lucatero had previously served as mayor of Buenavista Tomatlan, a city in the Tierra Caliente region. A self-defense group was formed there in March to fight the Caballeros Templarios drug cartel.
Esquivel Lucatero was arrested by federal prosecutors on May 26, 2009, along with 10 other mayors, 16 Michoacan state officials, a judge and several state police officers over suspicions that they had ties to the Familia Michoacana drug cartel in a plan dubbed "Operation Michoacanazo."
The leftist politicians murder came less than a day after Oaxaca state legislator Everardo Hugo Hernandez Guzman, another PRD member, was killed by a lone gunman in the city of Santa Cruz Xoxocotlan.

1. Beginning of the Mexican Revolution (November 20th 1910).
November 20th 1910 marks the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. Before that day Mexico had suffered 34 years of dictatorship under Porfirio Diaz. The economy had been growing but the rich were richer and the poor were poorer (yeah, sounds familiar right?) so discontent kept growing despite a systematic silencing of any opposition. When Diaz announced in an interview that he would not run for re-election, the opposition, led by Francisco Madero, became more active and gained fast support, which made Diaz go back on his word and impression Madero just before the elections. However, Madero escaped to the United States shortly after and from San Antonio issued the Plan de San Luis de Potosi where he called for a rise to national arms on November 20th which sparked a Revolution that would lead to the proclamation of the Mexican Constitution and that forged pop culture legends such as Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa.
2. Release of Windows 1.0 (November 20th 1985).
A different type of revolution happened on November 20th 1985, when as most you geeks will already know, Windows 1.0 was released. This year marks the 30th anniversary, so if you own any device running Windows, celebrate it this Friday! Take your device out on a date, get some cake… you know make the device feel special! Anyway, back to Windows 1.0. Not surprisingly the system was not the prettiest, coolest or best performing operating system in the market but as with many other things, somehow Bill Gates and Microsoft pulled it off and stablished it as the dominant system around the globe. However, initial reception was poor. Critics felt that the system did not meet their expectations and suffered from performance issues, really? Windows performance issues? No way! Did you mean? The horrible blue screen of death. Well for the better or for the worse, Windows did make a difference, so Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday… ok this is weird.

1. Beginning of the Mexican Revolution (November 20th 1910).
November 20th 1910 marks the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. Before that day Mexico had suffered 34 years of dictatorship under Porfirio Diaz. The economy had been growing but the rich were richer and the poor were poorer (yeah, sounds familiar right?) so discontent kept growing despite a systematic silencing of any opposition. When Diaz announced in an interview that he would not run for re-election, the opposition, led by Francisco Madero, became more active and gained fast support, which made Diaz go back on his word and impression Madero just before the elections. However, Madero escaped to the United States shortly after and from San Antonio issued the Plan de San Luis de Potosi where he called for a rise to national arms on November 20th which sparked a Revolution that would lead to the proclamation of the Mexican Constitution and that forged pop culture legends such as Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa.
2. Release of Windows 1.0 (November 20th 1985).
A different type of revolution happened on November 20th 1985, when as most you geeks will already know, Windows 1.0 was released. This year marks the 30th anniversary, so if you own any device running Windows, celebrate it this Friday! Take your device out on a date, get some cake… you know make the device feel special! Anyway, back to Windows 1.0. Not surprisingly the system was not the prettiest, coolest or best performing operating system in the market but as with many other things, somehow Bill Gates and Microsoft pulled it off and stablished it as the dominant system around the globe. However, initial reception was poor. Critics felt that the system did not meet their expectations and suffered from performance issues, really? Windows performance issues? No way! Did you mean? The horrible blue screen of death. Well for the better or for the worse, Windows did make a difference, so Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday… ok this is weird.

Campaigning is well underway in Mexico ahead of July's Presidential elections.
In an exclusive interview with APTN, Presidential contender Vicente Fox outlines his hopes and fears as the big day approaches.
July 2nd - election day in Mexico - is still a long way away.
But for the presidential candidates, every day is a vital one.
Campaigns are in full swing, and candidates are travelling throughout the country gathering support.
The two main opposition candidates are Vicente Fox and Cuauhtemoc Cardenas.
Fox, a former Coca-Cola executive and rancher who wears cowboy boots and a giant "FOX" belt buckle, has cultivated the image of a brash Northerner with farm roots and business savvy.
For him and his center-right National Action Party, the elections are a great chance for the future of the country.
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish)
"I think we have woken all the people of Mexico. We have decided unanimously to continue with this change, this historical change. It is a unique opportunity for us to start this century on the right foot as we say here, in other words, to start with a fresh and positive perspective. Mexico should and will compete with the top ten countries of the world. This is what we are going to do with our dear Mexico. We are going to do our first peaceful revolution. An intelligent, methodical revolution, a revolution of love and care for our country. We will achieve here in one generation what other countries have achieved in the 20th Century."

Fox travels to Chicago on Saturday, then to California on Sunday and Monday, just as his campaign is surging toward what may be the opposition's best chance ever of ending the ruling party's 71-year reign.
Opposition parties accuse the governing Institutional Revolutionary Party, or P-R-I, of thwarting a plan last year to let Mexican citizens abroad vote.

"We are seeing the return of the dinosaurs and this is very worrying. If the old school go beyond the realms of legality in this process then this will cause problems in this country. It looks to me that Labastida is willing to hold on to power whatever the cost. Us Mexicans will not allow this. We want a fair process, a trustworthy process with no favoured sides, a process where the Mexican state and the government do not interfere. The time has come for political change in Mexico. It has been 71 years with one political party that has corrupted and grown alongside the narco-politics. They no longer have anything to offer Mexico. This change on July 2nd is a revolution of hope in Mexico. Everyone is enthusiastic about this change and so we are going ahead with our changes, and will continue to do so."

Trips abroad are a dramatic display of the importance that the immigrants - permanent or temporary - have for Mexico, its economy and its politics.
But Fox is not forgetting the campaign trail at home, and has a gruelling schedule to complete ahead of July's elections.
Leading in opinion polls by a slim margin is the P-R-I's Francisco Labastida, whose style is less flamboyant but whose party has never lost the presidency.
As governor of Guanajuato state - one of the states with the highest rates of emigration to the United States, he says the two countries need to work together to address migration as a whole.
Fox has been surging in the most recent polls, and is almost even with Labastida.
Telephone surveys showed Fox won a debate last week, and no reputable opinion polls of the presidential race as a whole have come out since.
