In unserer Reihe Brücken von Dresden sind wir heute am blauen Wunder.
Das Blaue Wunder - so heißt sie allgemein im Volksmund, die Loschwitzer Brücke in Dresden. Bis 1912 trug sie den Namen "König-Albert-Brücke".
Vielleicht habt ihr sie ja schon mal in meinem Kanal-Logo gesehen? Sie wurde 1893 als fünfte Elbbrücke fertiggestellt und zählt heute zu den Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Eine der Forderungen der Schifferverbände war ein Verzicht auf Pfeiler im Flussbett, was die Konstruktion deutlich komplizierter machte.
Habt ihr vielleicht schon mal "Bridgebuilder" gespielt? Dann wisst ihr, wie komplex es sein kann, eine solche Konstruktion statisch stabil zu erstellen.
Nach weniger als 2 Jahren war der Bau der schmiedeeisernen Brücke dann abgeschlossen - das sind Zeiten, von denen heutige Brückenbauer zum Teil nur träumen können. Für die Benutzung der Brücke musste damals ein Brückengeld entrichtet werden - eine Abgabe, die jetzt nur noch die Autofahrer zahlen müssen, die zu schnell über die Brücke fahren. Allerdings ist das dann voraussichtlich etwas mehr als die 20 Pfennig von damals.
Klaus Koepcke, der Konstrukteur der Brücke, stand vor der Problematik, eine Hängebrücke zu bauen, die nicht schwingen kann. Das Gesamtgewicht der Brücke beträgt immerhin 3.500 t. Sie ist insgesamt ca. 280 Meter lang, wobei das mittlere Teil ohne weitere Pfeiler eine Strecke von fast 150 Metern überspannt. Die wirkenden Zugkräfte werden durch Gewichte in den begehbaren Ankerkammern ausgeglichen, die ebenfalls jeweils 1.500 t wiegen.
Zur Zeit ihrer Entstehung war die Brücke einer der ersten weltweit, die eine solche Spannweite mit einer Metallkonstruktion überbrücken konnte. Daher auch der Zusatz "Wunder" im Namen - das Blau stammt natürlich vom genutzten hellblauen Anstrich der Brücke.
Neben den technischen Merkmalen hat die Brücke aber natürlich einfach ein tolles Design und - nicht zu vergessen - eine tolle Aussicht, die man allerdings nur als Fußgänger wirlich genießen kann.
Ein Besuch und ein ausgiebiger Spaziergang bieten sich immer an - schon weil auch jede Menge Enten und Schwäne immer an der Brücke anzutreffen sind.

Herr Pfefferkorn hat sich eine Häuschen am Meer gekauft, Herr Goldbeutel ebenso. Voller Freude ziehen beide in das selbe Haus ein, das zwei Mal verkauft wurde. Die Auseinandersetzung um das eine Haus beginnt hart zu werden, als die Möbel von Herrn Goldbeutel angeliefert werden und das Eichhörnchen von Herrn Pfefferkorn die gezogene Grenze überschreitet.
Eine friedliche Lösung des Besitzerstreites scheint unmöglich bis ein großes Donnerwetter hereinbricht. Die Autorin Ingeborg von Zadow macht erlebbar, wie auf engstem Raum aus Rivalen Freunde werden können. Die Herren mit unterschiedlichen Lebensentwürfen reizen die Grenzen ihrer Konfliktfähigkeit in clownesker Größe aus.

Blue Wonder
Blue Wonder (German: Blaues Wunder) is the commonly used name for the Loschwitz Bridge (Loschwitzer Brücke), a cantilever truss bridge over the Elbe river in the Saxon capital of Dresden, Germany. It connects the city districts of Blasewitz and Loschwitz, two affluent residential areas, which around 1900 were amongst the most expensive in Europe. It is located close to Standseilbahn Dresden funicular railway and the world's oldest suspension railway Schwebebahn Dresden, as well as near the Dresden TV tower.
After a two year construction time, the bridge was completed in 1893 at a cost of 2.25 million Goldmarks and named König-Albert-Brücke in honor of King Albert of Saxony. In the 19th century it was a masterpiece of technology to build a bridge of this length without river piers supporting it. Today its technology is less of a wonder but it is a much-loved symbol of the city. The "blue" in the name comes from the colour of the bridge. An urban legend claims that the bridge was originally painted green, but that the weather (or some say the sun) turned the bridge blue. However, a number of news articles and other sources show that the original colour was really blue; when the bridge was opened for the first time, it was already hailed as the "Blue Wonder". In addition, the name is a pun, since the meaning of the phrase ein blaues Wunder erleben is "to experience an unpleasant surprise".

In unserer Reihe Brücken von Dresden sind wir heute am blauen Wunder.
Das Blaue Wunder - so heißt sie allgemein im Volksmund, die Loschwitzer Brücke in Dresden. Bis 1912 trug sie den Namen "König-Albert-Brücke".
Vielleicht habt ihr sie ja schon mal in meinem Kanal-Logo gesehen? Sie wurde 1893 als fünfte Elbbrücke fertiggestellt und zählt heute zu den Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Eine der Forderungen der Schifferverbände war ein Verzicht auf Pfeiler im Flussbett, was die Konstruktion deutlich komplizierter machte.
Habt ihr vielleicht schon mal "Bridgebuilder" gespielt? Dann wisst ihr, wie komplex es sein kann, eine solche Konstruktion statisch stabil zu erstellen.
Nach weniger als 2 Jahren war der Bau der schmiedeeisernen Brücke dann abgeschlossen - das sind Zeiten, von denen heutige Brückenbauer zum Teil nur träumen können. Für die Benutzung der Brücke musste damals ein Brückengeld entrichtet werden - eine Abgabe, die jetzt nur noch die Autofahrer zahlen müssen, die zu schnell über die Brücke fahren. Allerdings ist das dann voraussichtlich etwas mehr als die 20 Pfennig von damals.
Klaus Koepcke, der Konstrukteur der Brücke, stand vor der Problematik, eine Hängebrücke zu bauen, die nicht schwingen kann. Das Gesamtgewicht der Brücke beträgt immerhin 3.500 t. Sie ist insgesamt ca. 280 Meter lang, wobei das mittlere Teil ohne weitere Pfeiler eine Strecke von fast 150 Metern überspannt. Die wirkenden Zugkräfte werden durch Gewichte in den begehbaren Ankerkammern ausgeglichen, die ebenfalls jeweils 1.500 t wiegen.
Zur Zeit ihrer Entstehung war die Brücke einer der ersten weltweit, die eine solche Spannweite mit einer Metallkonstruktion überbrücken konnte. Daher auch der Zusatz "Wunder" im Namen - das Blau stammt natürlich vom genutzten hellblauen Anstrich der Brücke.
Neben den technischen Merkmalen hat die Brücke aber natürlich einfach ein tolles Design und - nicht zu vergessen - eine tolle Aussicht, die man allerdings nur als Fußgänger wirlich genießen kann.
Ein Besuch und ein ausgiebiger Spaziergang bieten sich immer an - schon weil auch jede Menge Enten und Schwäne immer an der Brücke anzutreffen sind.

The narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops, cafés and bakeries where you can enjoy traditional Maltese food like ftira in one of the most popular artisan bakeries.
The Upper Barakka Gardens occupy the elevated space on the ramparts of St. Peter and St Paul Bastion. The garden was laid down in the mid 17th century to provide a peaceful retreat for the pastime and relaxation of the Knights.
The St. John Co-Cathedral was built in the 16th century - a baroque work of art in its architecture and sculptures, this church boasts some of the most beautiful works of art by Mattia Preti and Caravaggio himself.
By far the most famous of the island's cave complex is the Blue Grotto, a series of nine caves rocky sides of which glow green, purple, and orange according to their mineral content.
Popeye Village has grown from its days as a film set of the 1980 Musical Production 'Popeye' into one of the major tourist attractions on the Maltese Islands filled with a number of colorful fun activities for all young and young at heart. Open all year round -- it is a guaranteed enjoyable visit to all guests.
It takes only 25 minutes to get to Gozo which is a greener more rural and smaller island than Malta. It is an ideal day trip to discover great historical sites, forts and amazing panorama.
