Phil Seymour (May 15, 1952 - August 17, 1993) was an American power pop drummer, singer, guitarist and songwriter, best known for the singles "I'm On Fire" (with the Dwight Twilley Band) and "Precious to Me". He had a major role in the seminal pop group Dwight Twilley Band. His solo work is also highly revered among fans of the power pop musical genre.

In 1967, Seymour met fellow Tulsa musician Dwight Twilley at a theater where they had both gone to see a screening of The Beatles' film, A Hard Day's Night. They soon began writing and recording together, going by the name Oister. In 1974, Seymour and Twilley signed with Shelter Records and became famous as The Dwight Twilley Band.
"I'll never forget the cold November night at the Church Studios in Tulsa. Phil and I had just signed our first recording contract. We had been instructed by the record company to get acquainted with working in a 'real' 16-track studio and not to record a 'real' record. In the confusion of a pivotal moment, it was Phil who pulled me into a secluded hallway and said, 'Dwight, let's make a hit record right now.' That night we recorded I'm On Fire."

Perhaps one of the most difficult trailers to watch released so far in 2009 features both Mariah Carey, Mo'nique and Lenny Kravits in Precious, due out in theatres in November. Clarice "Precious" Jones is a sixteen year old with big dreams--she wants to be on magazine covers and in videos on BET. Of course, she's also got big difficulties--she's sixteen, still in junior high and pregnant with her second child. But can she overcome her many struggles to make something of herself? Check out the Trailer! There are two ways to go on this one--one, to herald it as a story of triumph over adversity, or two, to decry it as a piece that has been done several times before and brings very little new to the table. Lead singer Precious Wilson left Eruption on the height of their success in 1979 after two mega-hits with I Can't Stand The Rain and One Way Ticket. Producer Frank Farian announced he would launch her solo career and turn her into a superstar. Her first solo single was Hold On I'm Coming, released in the summer of 1979, but despite performances on several big TV shows and inclusion on Boney M.'s #1 album Oceans Of Fantasy, the single was not as successful as the team had hoped. Lead singer Precious Wilson left Eruption on the height of their success in 1979 after two mega-hits with I Can't Stand The Rain and One Way Ticket. Producer Frank Farian announced he would launch her solo career and turn her into a superstar. Her first solo single was Hold On I'm Coming, released in the summer of 1979, but despite performances on several big TV shows and inclusion on Boney M.'s #1 album Oceans Of Fantasy, the single was not as successful as the team had hoped.
By October 1980 Precious' debut album On The Race Track was released, a mixture of soul, R&B;, disco and reggae, the highpoints arguably being the gospel ballad Stay By My Side with fine backing vocals by the (as of yet unnamed) La Mama trio of Patricia Shockley, Cathy Bartney and Madeleine Davis. The album was preceeded by the single Cry To Me (#12 in the Netherlands and Belgium and #3 in Switzerland). The second single, the title track (co-written by Precious), was released in January '81 and was her most successful single in Germany where it peaked at #11. The LP peaked at #34 in the German charts.
I have extended the album with the long versions and included Hold On I'm Coming here.

The US has a highly developed pharmaceutical industry offering treatments for all kinds of mental disorders. Millions of Americans are being medicated for ailments as diverse as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and many others. Even young children are being put on psychiatric drugs. If parents decline such treatment, social services may intervene.
Many patients, who’ve been taking these pills for years, insist that they do more harm than good. They have experienced disturbing side effects such as suicidal thoughts, addiction and even neurological damage. A lot of patients were put on their medication as children and by the time they were legally old enough to decide for themselves, they had already become addicted. They testify that breaking their dependency on the drugs is extremely difficult because, like any habit forming narcotic, they cause severe withdrawal symptoms.
RTD meets some of the sufferers to hear their stories of battling to shake off prescribed medicines. Father of 5, Josh, was given anxiety medication, it caused Akathisia and Dystonia. Both are physical disorders causing involuntary and uncontrolled body movement and have left him disabled.
Olivia’s son was prescribed psychiatric drugs to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD). Olivia soon noticed side effects and refused to continue giving him the pills. He was taken by social services and hospitalised.
Denis from Russia used to work for a pharmaceutical company in the US but after meeting his wife, who had suffered from the side effects of antidepressants for most of her life, he started questioning the necessity for such widespread psychiatric prescribing.
Their claims are supported by lawyers and medical professionals. Psychiatrist Dr. Peter Breggin is a vocal critic of psychiatric medication. He is adamant that the drugs are toxic and that many problems people talk to physiatrists about can be treated without resorting to drugs. His book on how to stop taking psychiatric medicines has helped thousands of patients who have struggled with the challenge. RTD meets a few of them.
