Nita Ambani

Nita Ambani (born November 1, 1962) is an Indian businesswoman,educationist, philanthropist and a sports enthusiast.She is married to industrialist Mukesh Ambani.

For over two decades, she has played a pivotal role in Reliance’s CSR initiatives and has made a significant contribution to India’s social sector development. She has inspired and led the implementation of many path-breaking initiatives in Rural Transformation, Health, Education, Sports for Development, Disaster Response, Arts, Culture & Heritage and Urban Renewal.

Early life

Born on November 1, 1962, Nita grew up in a middle-class joint family in the suburbs of Mumbai. Her father was a senior executive in Birla and mother is a homemaker. Nita did her schooling at the Rose Manor Garden School and completed her graduation from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. Nita studied interior designing, and earned a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and taught as a teacher for many years.

Since childhood, she always had a keen interest in Indian classical dance and became a trained Bharatnatyam dancer.

Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani (born 19 April 1957) is an Indian business magnate who is the chairman, managing director and largest shareholder of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a Fortune Global 500 company and India's second most valuable company by market value. He resides at the Antilia Building, the world's most expensive property. He holds a 44.7% stake in the company. He is the elder son of the late Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani and the brother of Anil Ambani. RIL deals mainly in refining, petrochemicals, and in the oil and gas sectors. Reliance Retail Ltd., another subsidiary, is the largest retailer in India.

In 2014, he was ranked 36 on Forbes list of the world's most powerful people and in 2010, he was included in Forbes's list of "68 people who matter most". As of 2013, he is India's richest man and second richest man in Asia. Ambani retains his title as India's richest person for the ninth consecutive year. Through Reliance, he also owns the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. In 2012, Forbes named him one of the richest sports owners in the world.

Vijay Mallya

Vijay Mallya (born 18 December 1955) is an Indian businessman and politician. The son of another businessman Vittal Mallya, he is the chairman of the UB Group, an Indian conglomerate with interests in beverage alcohol, aviation infrastructure, real estate and fertilizer among others. Mallya is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India.

He also co-owns the Formula One team Sahara Force India. His companies own Indian Premier League team Royal Challengers Bangalore, the I-League teams Mohun Bagan A.C. and East Bengal F.C. He is also a member of the World Motor Sport Council representing India in the FIA.

Mallya is the Chairman of public companies both in India and the US. He has been the Chairman of Sanofi India (previously Hoechst AG and Aventis) as well as the Chairman of Bayer CropScience in India for over 20 years, in addition to being the Chairman of several other companies.

Personal life

Vijay Mallya is the son of Vittal Mallya, a prominent businessman from Bantwal, Mangalore, he hails from a konkani-speaking Gaud Saraswat Brahmins family. His wife is Lalitha Ramaiah. He was educated at La Martiniere Calcutta, where he was appointed House Captain of Hastings house in his final year, and at St. Xavier's College, Calcutta, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (with honours) in 1970 . While in college, Mallya interned in his family's businesses. After graduating, he interned at the American part of Hoechst AG in the United States.
