Mount Everest, also known in Nepal as Sagarmāthā and in Tibet as Chomolungma, is Earth's highest mountain. It is located in the Mahalangur mountain range in Nepal and Tibet. Its peak is 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level. It is not the furthest summit from the centre of the Earth. That honour goes to Mount Chimborazo, in the Andes. The international border between China (Tibet Autonomous Region) and Nepal runs across Everest's precise summit point. Its massif includes neighbouring peaks Lhotse, 8,516 m (27,940 ft); Nuptse, 7,855 m (25,771 ft) and Changtse, 7,580 m (24,870 ft).
In 1856, the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India established the first published height of Everest, then known as Peak XV, at 8,840 m (29,002 ft). The current official height of 8,848 m (29,029 ft) as recognised by China and Nepal was established by a 1955 Indian survey and subsequently confirmed by a Chinese survey in 1975. In 1865, Everest was given its official English name by the Royal Geographical Society upon a recommendation by Andrew Waugh, the British Surveyor General of India. Waugh named the mountain after his predecessor in the post, Sir George Everest, arguing that there were many local names, against the opinion of Everest.
David Breashears (born December 20, 1955) is an American mountaineer, filmmaker, author, and motivational speaker. In 1985, he reached the summit of Mount Everest a second time, becoming the first American to reach the summit of Mount Everest more than once. He is perhaps most famous for guiding Richard Bass to the summit of Everest, thus completing Bass's ascent of the Seven Summits (the highest summit on each of the seven continents).
In 1983, Breashears transmitted the first live pictures from the summit of Mount Everest, and in 1985, he became the first American to reach its summit more than once. Breashears has made eight expeditions to Everest, reaching the summit five times.
He has also climbed to the summit of 24,494 ft (7,466 m) Ama Dablam in the Himalayas, and is known in climbing circles for having free climbed some of the most technically challenging rock walls in Colorado, as a young man.
He has also worked on feature films including Cliffhanger (1993) and Seven Years in Tibet (1997), as well as on documentaries, such as the award-winning TV documentary Red Flag over Tibet (October 20, 1989). He has received four Emmy awards for achievement in cinematography.
David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.

Narrated by Liam Neeson, "Everest" is the dramatic true story of a team of climbers who found hope, strength and triumph in the wake of tragedy. Their successful ascent of Mount Everest just days after fellow mountaineers and friends died there, is a compelling story about the human spirit and a mountain they love, respect and sometimes fear.
Dead bodies on Mount Everest *source: Google & Wikipedia. Photo credit goes to its original photographers. Mount Everest, at 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) is the world's highest mountain and a particularly desirable peak for mountaineers. Almost 280 people have died trying to climb it and in the last few decades, fatalities have occurred every year. The last year without known fatalities on the mountain was 1977, a year in which only two people reached the summit. Most deaths have been attributed to avalanche, injury from fall, ice collapse, exposure, or health problems related to conditions on the mountain. Not all bodies have been located, so details on those fatalities are not available. Most bodies still remain on the mountain, even in cases of easy recovery. The upper reaches of the m...

March 14, 2017 David Brashear, Architectural Historian, spoke about how following World War II, architects in Australia redoubled their efforts to find an architecture that was expressive of what it meant to be Australian. Many architectural students traveled abroad to study and to see important modern architecture in person. Some architects looked to the International Style, but others embraced an aesthetic that was more regional and organic in its roots, and clearly derivative of Frank Lloyd Wright. This lecture traced the work of several architects operating in the suburbs of Sydney and the impact of Wright on their residential work. The Selected Topics in Architecture Lecture Series is presented by MCV Foundation and VCU Health.

After spending a couple of days in KATHMANDU, Dad and I took a 45min flight and flew to LUKLA to start our epic trek to Everest Base Camp. One of the most dangerous flights in the world! I'm a total trekking rookie but Mt Everest had always interested me and this was a way I could get really close and personal. Not only was I a rookie trekker but I had never been at altitude by foot and like everything in my life, I wanted to do it naturally. My guide told me 99% of people take a prescribed drug called Diamox. This was going to be interesting. My Dad is 70 in a couple of months. I felt like it was now or never. Massive shout out and BIG thanks to - Himalayan Scenery Trek & Expedition straight out of Kathmandu, Nepal. BIG Thanks to our awesome guides Shiba & Dussi. And Thanks a million t...

February 13, 2017 David Brashear, Architectural Historian, spoke about how the concept of rustication was formally introduced into the palette of Renaissance architecture by Sebastiano Serlio in 1537 through the publication of the first book of his architectural treatise. Serlio’s inclusion of rustication was a reflection of both antique precedent and the work of a range of important Renaissance architects. This lecture explored the interrelated efforts of Serlio and the architectural production of Giulio Romano in Mantua and Jacopo Sansovino in Venice that collectively marked an inflection point in the use of rustication in architecture and served as guideposts to a broadened architectural framework that would be used by others as the Italian Renaissance continued to press ahead. The Se...
