Kmart shuts its doors after 40 years in Walnutport, Pa.
It's the end of the blue light special in the Lehigh Valley.
The last Kmart in the Valley closed its doors Sunday in Walnutport.
After 40 years, customers said goodbye to The Big K on Best Avenue.
Bret Senftleben of Allentown said he always came to the store because he knew everyone and all the workers were very nice.
He even paid $20 for a Kmart sign because it reminded him of his childhood.
"I remember getting the Icees that they had up front so it's like a museum to have this one here, so it's kind of like remembering my childhood to come here."
Others say they just wanted to come look at the store one last time.

Closed Kmart in Walnutport, PA
This Kmart closed down in August 2020. They closed down after 40 years, I’m assuming the building got renovated to get bigger in like the 2000s. There was also a Sears Auto Center in the back of the Kmart, which is unusual because you don't really see them next to Kmarts.

This family friendly venue, has plenty for the children and adult alike. Enjoy the "Trackless Train", playground, bounce house, and so much more. Along with reasonable prices, they have a wide variety of food at the Snack Bar.
They have FM STEREO, so not only do you get the sound through your car radio, it sounds even better if you have a boom box! They have two movie screens with double features showing on both screens. Screen 1 holds 450 cars and is 80' x 50' in size. Screen 2 holds 250 cars and is 66' x 33' in size. Each row is well trimmed with grass to help you relax and enjoy the double feature on your blanket or chair. Just remember, there are things to do and food to eat before the movie starts, so come early!
Becky's takes pride in keeping the theater clean, and they want everybody to have the best movie experience that is possible; that's why we've been in continuous operation since 1946. There father, William D. Beck and our mother, Alice founded the business, the next generation (Darrell, Mary, Dennis, and Cindy) continue their legacy.
Becky's also holds the Lehigh Township Benefit Festival & Car Show to benefit Dream Come True of the Lehigh Valley. Over $195,000 was raised for Dream Come True throughout the 22 years that we have been hosting the benefits.
There's always something entertaining, and everyone at Becky's hopes to see you and your family at the Drive-in this summer.
