This 1978 Ferrari 308 is one of the most interesting and unique builds we've ever featured. The original, carbureted engine was removed (it now lives on a shelf at ATS) and a "700 crank horsepower Frankenstein engine made from at least seven dead Ferrari's" with a bottom end by legendary Ferrari tuner Bob Norwood, sits inside. Highlights include high-compression forged pistons, 348 cylinder heads, 328 oiling sytem, sequential EFI management, and a single Precision 6265 Turbo with ATS's custom air-to-water intercooler. There's an upgraded suspension, big brakes, and proper tires to back it all up, and though not exactly built for the race track, this car's performance is staggeringly good by any measure. In fact, the engine is good for quite a bit more, if there were a reasonable clutch that could handle it. This 308 is right at the top of the favorite drives we've ever taken.

The 1979 Forgotten Ferrari 308 GTS, one of the nicest and most driver's car Ferrari of the 1980s. After purchasing this 308 in 2006 Larry has been taking care of this car since day one. While I was filming Larry didn't stop for a second to make sure the car was waxed. Walking around with the spray and a piece of cloth, he made sure that the rosso colour was bright and shiny.

This week we take a ride from the bustling city streets of Bangkok to the winding rural roads just outside the capital in Chayanin Debhakam’s Ferrari 308 GTB.
In Thailand, just catching a glimpse of a Prancing Horse out of the stable is a rare occasion, but Chayanin’s choice to daily drive his Ferrari is what elevates his enthusiasm for the marque. Before you can see one in the wild though, the car needs to be brought in first, and sourcing a Ferrari in the BKK is an entirely different challenge for these buyers.
“The 308 GTB is the Ferrari that I grew up with and it was the first Ferrari I ever saw,” says Chayanin. When it came time to find a Ferrari of his own, he reached out to the president of the Ferrari Owners Club of Thailand, who was able to find the car that Chayanin now drives so often. “He finally found one and it was exactly what I was searching for.”
Once he had the Rosso-Corsa-on-crème GTB parked in his garage, Chayanin did some research and discovered the car was originally Fly Yellow over black leather—another victim to “resale red.” This is when his quest for perfection began, “I wanted to restore the car back to the original factory standard.”
Using some extra workspace at his office, Chayanin (with repair manual in hand) got to work. Singlehandedly tackling this project would have been tremendous, but Chayanin fortunately has a group of enthusiast friends who brought their individual talents to the table. Chayanin humbly admits, “Some of them have different skills than me. I don't know everything [and] cannot do everything myself, so having extra help and knowledge is great.”
In recent years, tracking down correct 308 parts has become quite the task, but Chayanin was unwavering in achieving his vision, stating that his ultimate goal was to have it drive and feel as it did when it left the factory. His obsession to return the car back to factory spec went as far as buying a new old stock (NOS) exhaust system to ensure the Italian eight-cylinder audio system was accurate. Finally refinished in flashy Fly Yellow with beautifully stitched black hide inside, Chayanin’s 308 GTB is back to the way Maranello intended it to be.
For many, pouring so much time and money into such a serious project would make driving the car an overly cautious event only to be indulged on occasion and only under ideal circumstances. But, as you can see in the film, Chayanin has no problem revving-out his favorite Ferrari, getting tail happy in the empty forest-lined roads—after all, it is his everyday 308.

Last year I recorded a very classic Ferrari, the 308 GTB and the 308 GTS. More then 12.000 Ferrari's 308 GTB where produced. From the 308 GTS Ferrari build only 3.219. Both has a 3.0 V8 engine that produces 250Bhp.
I recorded these Ferrari's during an Italia car event, called Auto Moto in Houten (The Netherlands).

Ferrari
Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 as Auto Avio Costruzioni, the company built its first car in 1940. However, the company's inception as an auto manufacturer is usually recognized in 1947 when the first Ferrari-badged car was completed.
Ferrari is the world's most powerful brand according to Brand Finance. In May 2012 the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO became the most expensive car in history, selling in a private transaction for $38,115,000 to American communications magnate Craig McCaw.
Fiat S.p.A. acquired 50% of Ferrari in 1969 and expanded its stake to 90% in 1988. In October 2014 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced its intentions to separate Ferrari from FCA; as of the announcement FCA owned 90% of Ferrari. The separation began in October 2015 with a restructuring that established Ferrari N.V. as the new holding company of the Ferrari group and the subsequent sale by FCA of a 10% of the shares in an IPO and concurrent listing of common shares on the New York Stock Exchange. Through the remainings steps of the separation, FCA's interest in Ferrari's business was distributed to shareholders of FCA, with a 10% continuing to be owned by Piero Ferrari. The spin-off was completed on January 3, 2016.

Pawn Stars
Pawn Stars is an American reality television series, shown on History, and produced by Leftfield Pictures. The series is filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, where it chronicles the daily activities at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, a 24-hour family business opened in 1989 and operated by patriarch Richard "Old Man" Harrison, his son Rick Harrison, Rick's son Corey "Big Hoss" Harrison, and Corey's childhood friend, Austin "Chumlee" Russell. The series, which became the network's highest rated show and the No. 2 reality show behind Jersey Shore, debuted on July 26, 2009.

While I was filming Larry didn't stop for a second to make sure the car was waxed. Walking around with the spray and a piece of cloth, he made sure that the rosso colour was bright and shiny. This week we take a ride from the bustling city streets of Bangkok to the winding rural roads just outside the capital in Chayanin Debhakam’s Ferrari 308 GTB. In Thailand, just catching a glimpse of a Prancing Horse out of the stable is a rare occasion, but Chayanin’s choice to daily drive his Ferrari is what elevates his enthusiasm for the marque. Before you can see one in the wild though, the car needs to be brought in first, and sourcing a Ferrari in the BKK is an entirely different challenge for these buyers. “The 308 GTB is the Ferrari that I grew up with and it was the first Ferrari I ever saw,” says Chayanin. When it came time to find a Ferrari of his own, he reached out to the president of the Ferrari Owners Club of Thailand, who was able to find the car that Chayanin now drives so often. “He finally found one and it was exactly what I was searching for.” Once he had the Rosso-Corsa-on-crème GTB parked in his garage, Chayanin did some research and discovered the car was originally Fly Yellow over black leather—another victim to “resale red.” This is when his quest for perfection began, “I wanted to restore the car back to the original factory standard.” Using some extra workspace at his office, Chayanin (with repair manual in hand) got to work. Singlehandedly tackling this project would have been tremendous, but Chayanin fortunately has a group of enthusiast friends who brought their individual talents to the table. Chayanin humbly admits, “Some of them have different skills than me. I don't know everything [and] cannot do everything myself, so having extra help and knowledge is great.” In recent years, tracking down correct 308 parts has become quite the task, but Chayanin was unwavering in achieving his vision, stating that his ultimate goal was to have it drive and feel as it did when it left the factory. His obsession to return the car back to factory spec went as far as buying a new old stock (NOS) exhaust system to ensure the Italian eight-cylinder audio system was accurate. Finally refinished in flashy Fly Yellow with beautifully stitched black hide inside, Chayanin’s 308 GTB is back to the way Maranello intended it to be. For many, pouring so much time and money into such a serious project would make driving the car an overly cautious event only to be indulged on occasion and only under ideal circumstances. But, as you can see in the film, Chayanin has no problem revving-out his favorite Ferrari, getting tail happy in the empty forest-lined roads—after all, it is his everyday 308. We took the car for a little spin! We love to hear your comments on our videos or receive your 'thumb up'. Thanks a lot! The 308 is considered by many to be one of Ferrari's greatest manufacturing and styling triumphs. The original 308 GTB released in 1975 was the first production Ferrari to be produced with a fiberglass body, excluding the front bonnet which was aluminium. These models are also sometimes referred to as the GRP (glass reinforced plastic) or Vetroresina (Italian for fiberglass) cars. The first production 308 GTB was unveiled at the Paris Salon in October 1975 and was an instant hit with the motoring press and general public. Fans of the Dino 246 GT were particularly pleased to see some of the design elements of the old car carried across, such as the scalloper air intakes on the side panels, twin tail lights and recessed curved rear window. The car also received the "wedge" treatment which was fashionable at the time, but unlike some of its contemporaries it was applied in restraint. Why fiberglass? There are various arguments about why fiberglass was chosen for the first limited production run of this model. The most commonly accepted reason is Ferrari were disappointed with the sales results of the earlier Dino 308 GT4 introduced in 1973, and wanted to speed up the production of the new car to offset lost sales to competitors such as Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini and Lotus. It was also quicker and easier to make moulds for fiberglass construction than dies for metal pressings, and Lotus had been successfully reducing the weight of their production sports cars using fiberglass bodies for many years. Once production of the steel cars started in 1977 the fiberglass models were considered "inferior" for many years, and this was not helped by the fact that the bodies were considerably more difficult and expensive to repair. But inevitably the low production numbers (refer table below) and combination of carburettor engine, lighter body and reduced corrosion areas, have made the glass models the most desirable of the 3x8 range. Why dry sump? The rarest of all the fiberglass road cars are those with the dry sump engine of which were only available to some markets, and appoximately only 100 in right hand drive. It is not clear why Ferrari went to the expense of developing a dry sump engine for the 308 but the most likely reason is they were planning to build a racing version using the lighter fibreglass body. Whilst the dry sump motor has minimal (if any) increase in power over the equivalent spec wet sump, it does have a significant advantage on a race track where oil surging during tight cornering can cause oil starvation in the wet sump motor. Ultimately it was left to Michelotto to develop a handful of ex-factory fiberglass race cars which are highly prized and sought after today. Production Data The fiberglass 308 GTB's made up 3.28% of the total production of 308, 328 and 208 cars between 1975 and 1989. -

We have been getting to know this wonderful little car ever since. Ferraris are very different to the Porsches in our garage and a fun change of pace 😊 It is a good, solid car that combines amazing looks with fun and engaging performance and the wonderful Ferrari sound! In this video, we take you out for a ride to give you our impressions and then for a tour of the interior and engine bay. Ferrari 308/358 RR
This is the engine for a Ferrari 308 GTS that is undergoing a full restoration and upgrade program. We rebuilt the original 3.0-liter V8 engine to a larger 3.5-liter "358RR" spec engine. The car will also be modified with a Koni coilover suspension, larger brakes and 16x7 and 16x8-inch Euro-spec 308 QV magnesium alloys.

While I was filming Larry didn't stop for a second to make sure the car was waxed. Walking around with the spray and a piece of cloth, he made sure that the rosso colour was bright and shiny.

This week we take a ride from the bustling city streets of Bangkok to the winding rural roads just outside the capital in Chayanin Debhakam’s Ferrari 308 GTB.
In Thailand, just catching a glimpse of a Prancing Horse out of the stable is a rare occasion, but Chayanin’s choice to daily drive his Ferrari is what elevates his enthusiasm for the marque. Before you can see one in the wild though, the car needs to be brought in first, and sourcing a Ferrari in the BKK is an entirely different challenge for these buyers.
“The 308 GTB is the Ferrari that I grew up with and it was the first Ferrari I ever saw,” says Chayanin. When it came time to find a Ferrari of his own, he reached out to the president of the Ferrari Owners Club of Thailand, who was able to find the car that Chayanin now drives so often. “He finally found one and it was exactly what I was searching for.”
Once he had the Rosso-Corsa-on-crème GTB parked in his garage, Chayanin did some research and discovered the car was originally Fly Yellow over black leather—another victim to “resale red.” This is when his quest for perfection began, “I wanted to restore the car back to the original factory standard.”
Using some extra workspace at his office, Chayanin (with repair manual in hand) got to work. Singlehandedly tackling this project would have been tremendous, but Chayanin fortunately has a group of enthusiast friends who brought their individual talents to the table. Chayanin humbly admits, “Some of them have different skills than me. I don't know everything [and] cannot do everything myself, so having extra help and knowledge is great.”
In recent years, tracking down correct 308 parts has become quite the task, but Chayanin was unwavering in achieving his vision, stating that his ultimate goal was to have it drive and feel as it did when it left the factory. His obsession to return the car back to factory spec went as far as buying a new old stock (NOS) exhaust system to ensure the Italian eight-cylinder audio system was accurate. Finally refinished in flashy Fly Yellow with beautifully stitched black hide inside, Chayanin’s 308 GTB is back to the way Maranello intended it to be.
For many, pouring so much time and money into such a serious project would make driving the car an overly cautious event only to be indulged on occasion and only under ideal circumstances. But, as you can see in the film, Chayanin has no problem revving-out his favorite Ferrari, getting tail happy in the empty forest-lined roads—after all, it is his everyday 308.

Recently we came across this beautiful Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina 1976 at The Gallery in Brummen, The Netherlands. We took the car for a little spin! We love to hear your comments on our videos or receive your 'thumb up'. Thanks a lot!
The 308 is considered by many to be one of Ferrari's greatest manufacturing and styling triumphs. The original 308 GTB released in 1975 was the first production Ferrari to be produced with a fiberglass body, excluding the front bonnet which was aluminium. These models are also sometimes referred to as the GRP (glass reinforced plastic) or Vetroresina (Italian for fiberglass) cars.
The first production 308 GTB was unveiled at the Paris Salon in October 1975 and was an instant hit with the motoring press and general public. Fans of the Dino 246 GT were particularly pleased to see some of the design elements of the old car carried across, such as the scalloper air intakes on the side panels, twin tail lights and recessed curved rear window. The car also received the "wedge" treatment which was fashionable at the time, but unlike some of its contemporaries it was applied in restraint.
Why fiberglass?
There are various arguments about why fiberglass was chosen for the first limited production run of this model. The most commonly accepted reason is Ferrari were disappointed with the sales results of the earlier Dino 308 GT4 introduced in 1973, and wanted to speed up the production of the new car to offset lost sales to competitors such as Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini and Lotus. It was also quicker and easier to make moulds for fiberglass construction than dies for metal pressings, and Lotus had been successfully reducing the weight of their production sports cars using fiberglass bodies for many years.
Once production of the steel cars started in 1977 the fiberglass models were considered "inferior" for many years, and this was not helped by the fact that the bodies were considerably more difficult and expensive to repair. But inevitably the low production numbers (refer table below) and combination of carburettor engine, lighter body and reduced corrosion areas, have made the glass models the most desirable of the 3x8 range.
Why dry sump?
The rarest of all the fiberglass road cars are those with the dry sump engine of which were only available to some markets, and appoximately only 100 in right hand drive. It is not clear why Ferrari went to the expense of developing a dry sump engine for the 308 but the most likely reason is they were planning to build a racing version using the lighter fibreglass body. Whilst the dry sump motor has minimal (if any) increase in power over the equivalent spec wet sump, it does have a significant advantage on a race track where oil surging during tight cornering can cause oil starvation in the wet sump motor. Ultimately it was left to Michelotto to develop a handful of ex-factory fiberglass race cars which are highly prized and sought after today.

The 308 is considered by many to be one of Ferrari's greatest manufacturing and styling triumphs. The original 308 GTB released in 1975 was the first production Ferrari to be produced with a fiberglass body, excluding the front bonnet which was aluminium. These models are also sometimes referred to as the GRP (glass reinforced plastic) or Vetroresina (Italian for fiberglass) cars.
The first production 308 GTB was unveiled at the Paris Salon in October 1975 and was an instant hit with the motoring press and general public. Fans of the Dino 246 GT were particularly pleased to see some of the design elements of the old car carried across, such as the scalloper air intakes on the side panels, twin tail lights and recessed curved rear window. The car also received the "wedge" treatment which was fashionable at the time, but unlike some of its contemporaries it was applied in restraint.
Why fiberglass?
There are various arguments about why fiberglass was chosen for the first limited production run of this model. The most commonly accepted reason is Ferrari were disappointed with the sales results of the earlier Dino 308 GT4 introduced in 1973, and wanted to speed up the production of the new car to offset lost sales to competitors such as Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini and Lotus. It was also quicker and easier to make moulds for fiberglass construction than dies for metal pressings, and Lotus had been successfully reducing the weight of their production sports cars using fiberglass bodies for many years.
Once production of the steel cars started in 1977 the fiberglass models were considered "inferior" for many years, and this was not helped by the fact that the bodies were considerably more difficult and expensive to repair. But inevitably the low production numbers (refer table below) and combination of carburettor engine, lighter body and reduced corrosion areas, have made the glass models the most desirable of the 3x8 range.
Why dry sump?
The rarest of all the fiberglass road cars are those with the dry sump engine of which were only available to some markets, and appoximately only 100 in right hand drive. It is not clear why Ferrari went to the expense of developing a dry sump engine for the 308 but the most likely reason is they were planning to build a racing version using the lighter fibreglass body. Whilst the dry sump motor has minimal (if any) increase in power over the equivalent spec wet sump, it does have a significant advantage on a race track where oil surging during tight cornering can cause oil starvation in the wet sump motor. Ultimately it was left to Michelotto to develop a handful of ex-factory fiberglass race cars which are highly prized and sought after today.

A couple of years ago we decided to go for something a little different in the garage and found this 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole Euro spec car locally. We have been getting to know this wonderful little car ever since. Ferraris are very different to the Porsches in our garage and a fun change of pace 😊 It is a good, solid car that combines amazing looks with fun and engaging performance and the wonderful Ferrari sound!
In this video, we take you out for a ride to give you our impressions and then for a tour of the interior and engine bay. We hope to give you a perspective from an owner and not just someone who has stepped into the car for the first time. The 308 is a classic beauty that has the perfect balance of the angular shapes of the time but with the beautiful curves Pininfarina is so famous for. Performance is on a par with the era it was built and has held up really well over the years. Valuations have increased recently, but it is still quite accessible so if you are looking for an entry into the Ferrari brand, this is an excellent choice!
