More at www.gfddgolf.org Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) celebrated its 4th Golf Tournament with the participation of over 70 players that gathered to play in the prestigious Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami, Florida. The tournament, already a GFDD tradition, was attended by leading figures from the philanthropic field, prominent sports figures and other friends who through the years have supported GFDD's programs, which seek to foster social, economic, democratic and cultural advancement in the Dominican Republic and throughout the Western Hemisphere. During a delicious brunch before starting the game, players were welcomed by GFDD Executive Director Natasha Despotovic, who appreciated the support offered to the foundation and its work. "We hope you like our projects, and we hope you will continue to be a member of our big, worldwide community", she conveyed. Former President of the Dominican Republic and President of GFDD, Dr. Leonel Fernández, officially kick-started the event. After the golf tournament was played and everyone enjoyed a great day, all gathered at the Alhambra Ballroom, where the Executive Director of GFDD thanked the public for the support given to this event and the Foundation since the beginning. "We are grateful for the unconditional endorsement you have always given us, and we urge you to continue supporting the various initiatives developed by GFDD", said Ms. Despotovic. Mr. Ricardo Jacobo, GFDD collaborator, highlighted the great academic and cultural contribution provided by the institution and thanked the support received from the players and sponsors, contributing to exceed revenue targets set for this edition of the tournament, the first one held in the city of Miami, Florida. Dr. Fernández and Ms. Despotovic presented the 2014 GFDD CUP to the winning team. Vice President of Dominican Republic, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, was also present at the awards ceremony.
