TONY Abbott’s first budget, like his first government, has few friends and plenty of critics.
It’s either too hard or it’s too soft. It cuts too deep or it doesn’t cut deep enough. It breaks too many promises or it didn’t break the right ones. Superannuation should have been tackled or the paid parental leave scheme axed. The rich either got off lightly or they were slugged so much it will dampen confidence.
