The annual UCSC Sophia Garcia Robles Drum Feast celebrates the songs, dances, and contemporary lifeways and arts of Indigenous peoples in North America. In a “pan-Indigenous” atmosphere of fellowship, trust, respect, and empowerment, the UCSC Drum Feast brings students, staff and faculty together with community members to help educate others about Indigenous cultures of this continent. Participants include the Amah Mutsun Band of Ohlone (the Indigenous inhabitants of Santa Cruz), dance groups that celebrate the cultures of Indigenous peoples across the Americas and vendors who sell merchandise and food inspired and made by Indigenous people.
