Portrait drawing demo by Yong Chen. In this portrait demonstration to my drawing class, I focused on the early steps of the drawing process. I explained the importance of composition for an artwork, what should my students think at this early stage. With the help of the animation, I showed how to measure the proportion between the width of the face to the height of the face. Composition and proportion are very important foundation to ensure the final portrait will come out the way you want.

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.
Some of the earliest surviving painted portraits of people who were not kings or emperors, are the funeral portraits that survived in the dry climate of Egypt's Fayum district. These are almost the only paintings from the classical world that have survived, apart from frescos, though many sculptures survive, and portraits on coins.
The art of the portrait flourished in Ancient Greek and especially Roman sculpture, where sitters demanded individualized and realistic portraits, even unflattering ones. During the 4th century, the portrait began to retreat in favor of an idealized symbol of what that person looked like. (Compare the portraits of Roman Emperors Constantine I and Theodosius I at their entries.) In the Europe of the Early Middle Ages representations of individuals are mostly generalized. True portraits of the outward appearance of individuals re-emerged in the late Middle Ages, in tomb monuments, donor portraits, miniatures in illuminated manuscripts and then panel paintings.

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson (born 15 April 1990) is an English actress and model.
Watson rose to prominence playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series. Watson was cast as Hermione at the age of nine, having previously acted only in school plays. From 2001 to 2011, she starred in all eight Harry Potter films alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. Watson's work on the Harry Potter series has earned her several awards and more than £10 million. She made her modelling debut for Burberry's Autumn/Winter campaign in 2009.

Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin (Hard/Lv. 1 Cap/NO DAMAGE) Part 7 - Nation of Fools

There are two HP and MP Max Ups here too and none of them are hidden which is nice. The most dangerous part of this map is the center with two Flying Armors. Those fuckers killed me more times I can count, but I was hoping they'd give me Heaven's Sword onscreen. Heaven's Sword is one of the best weapons for Jonathan when you know how and when to use it. Legion is a pretty boring boss. The most dangerous thing is the fact it can fire lasers right in your face as soon you break the husk around it, so be always on your toes for that. Regardless of the subject matter or technique, every painting is a personal statement - an expression of one’s own personal views and convictions. Personality of the artist is reflected in the brush strokes, colors, composition, subject matter, etc. The combination of these aspects is in any one painting unique to the individual holding the brush. Except following our natural inclinations we can sometimes choose our point of interest and favor one aspect over the others. Today I paint a portrait painting in which I want to focus my attention predominately on brushwork. Brushwork is one of the most expressive tools at our disposal as the result of expressive brushwork evokes emotion in the eye of the beholder on a visceral level. As I've mentioned in the first video through Great Stairway (Part 4) this is a different run I had through this place. This video shows another run I had here where I hadn't gotten Tome of Arms 2 and STR Boost before going to Sandy Grave. How I beat that map on these conditions without those? One word: Suffering.
Anyway here I'm going to Nation of Fools and picking a few things along the way. For those tired of Shuriken, have some Dart spam. You can spam some subweapons by cancelling it with backdash, but that's going to drain all of your MP (especially in Hard Level 1).

Regardless of the subject matter or technique, every painting is a personal statement - an expression of one’s own personal views and convictions.
Personality of the artist is reflected in the brush strokes, colors, composition, subject matter, etc. The combination of these aspects is in any one painting unique to the individual holding the brush.
Except following our natural inclinations we can sometimes choose our point of interest and favor one aspect over the others. Today I paint a portrait painting in which I want to focus my attention predominately on brushwork.
Brushwork is one of the most expressive tools at our disposal as the result of expressive brushwork evokes emotion in the eye of the beholder on a visceral level. We can ‘feel’ the rhythm of someone’s muscles contracting and relaxing when making those strokes. It is a record, a map of movements, slow and fast, long and short, weak and strong. It excites us. We relive the movement in our mind.

This is true but only when the primary subject is of a brightness or tonality that easily allows for contrast between light and dark areas. For example, when photographing something or someone light in tonality, shadows are the contrast control tool you would want to use. However, when photographing something or someone of a dark tonality, it is the highlight details that help to illustrate the point of depth, shape, form and texture.

In this video, I take you thru my portrait photo editing process from start to finish. I share with you tons tips and tricks and unlock so many excellent nuggets in Lightroom!
So much of what can make a good image great happens in post processing. I firmly believe that it's essential to edit your RAW photos. It's one thing to take a great photo and another thing to do a great edit and I feel an image isn't finished until it's properly edited.
In this video, I start by using a Lightroom Develop preset as my baseline. I love presets and often start with them and tweak from there. Not all presets work well just as they are, but can provide a great starting point for an edit. I then go thru the Develop module and show you guys my process for editing and retouching an image all in Lightroom every step of the way.
Lightroom is incredibly robust and full of amazing features. There is no right or wrong with editing, but I feel that less is more and when editing it's about a gradual progression. My goal is to elevate a photo without making it look overly processed or surreal. This is a fine balance and takes some practice and the great thing about shooting RAW and editing in Lightroom, is that you can always revisit and re-edit a photo as your editing process progresses.
