It was 1994, and lead vocalist for the band BOSTON, Brad Delp, along with drummer John Muzzy, attended a Beatles Tribute Show in Newburyport and decided that they too wanted to form a Beatles cover band. It's been over twenty years since Beatlejuice came together and their fan base and following continue to grow.
The band recently played at the Regent Theatre in Arlington and celebrated their drummer, "Muzz's" birthday. The show opened with singer and songwriter, Charlie Farren, followed by a set performed by Muzzy's son with his band. Back in 1986 Muzz, as he is called, was part of a three piece band called Farrenheit with Charlie Farren and bass player, David Hull. They released a self titled album on Warner Brothers records which brought them video exposure on MTV and three singles; "Bad Habit," "Fool in Love." and "Lost in Loveland."
Original lead vocalist, Brad Delp, had an untimely death in March of 2007. Delp was best known for his work with the band BOSTON. He sang lead, background vocals, and over dubs for the band's first album release in 1976 which sold over 20 million copies and produced singles, "More Than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", and Smokin" to name a few. Two years later, BOSTON, released their second album, "Don't Look Back." It was followed by a third album eight years later appropriately entitled, "Third Stage."
After Delp's passing, the band changed it's name to Beatlejuice and Friends, and began playing with a Memorial Concert in honor of Brad (Brad Delp Foundation) at the Regent Theatre. The band line up today is: John "Muzz" Muzzy on drums, Steve Baker on keyboards and guitar, Joe Holaday on bass, Dave Mitchell on guitar, Jimmy Rogers (Velvet Elvis) on vocals, Buddy Bernard on vocals, Bob Jennings on vocals, Evan Gianoulis on percussion, and Rich Bartlett (The Fools) on acoustic guitar.
