Edmonton i/ˈɛdməntən/ is the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta. Edmonton is on the North Saskatchewan River and is the centre of the Edmonton Capital Region, which is surrounded by Alberta's central region.
The city had a population of 877,926 in the 2014 census, making it Alberta's second-largest city and Canada's fifth-largest municipality. This population represents 66 percent of the total 2014 population of 1,328,300 within the Edmonton census metropolitan area (CMA), Canada's fifth-largest CMA by population. Edmonton is the northernmost North American city with a metropolitan population over one million. A resident of Edmonton is known as an Edmontonian.
Edmonton's historic growth has been facilitated through the absorption of five adjacent urban municipalities (Strathcona, North Edmonton, West Edmonton, Beverly and Jasper Place) and a series of annexations ending in 1982. Edmonton serves as the northern anchor of the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor. Known as the "Gateway to the North", the city is a staging point for large-scale oil sands projects occurring in northern Alberta and large-scale diamond mining operations in the Northwest Territories.

Here is the Edmonton LRT Summer Edition Video 2016. Its all about the Edmonton ETS LRT Line in Summer 2016. The New Metro Line to NAIT is making progress towards operating the way it was designed to. Its operating a little faster but is still slow at the street level crossings. It will hopefully be up to full speed and Fully operational by this fall when the school year starts and the New Rogers Place Arena Opens. The New Valley Line LRT construction progress is good but Protesters want it halted and rerouted because the current route goes right though river valley parks destroying them, the colverdale footbridge and the river valley its self and it would operate slow as the metro line is operating now and they will fight it in court this summer to change the plans and make it better off...

Edmonton's Valley Line to Mill Woods is expected to open by the end of 2020. Here is what the city says it will be like.
Finally it has opened. I filmed this on opening day so yeah i notice it was raining and yes im aware the windshield wiper is going. a few things to point out. 1. Sorry about the text at the begining. this was a trail version of an editor i had to use. 2. it will look faster at the start but after MacEwan staition the trains are temporary restricted to 25KMH due to ongoing signal work (suprised) and is operating on a Line Of Sight procedure. I will be making another metro line timelapse as during weekdays and saturdays the line does go to centry park and i will make a vid of that as well.. We're on the road again~~~♫ This past weekend, boyfriend, our friend Douglas and myself adventured over the Rocky Mountains to Edmonton to attend a hardstyle event called Q-Dance! We were lucky enough to see a bunch of wildlife, including four moose (and I had never seen one in my life before this!). It was my first time visiting Edmonton and although we were only there very briefly, it was a really good time. Thanks for watching! ♥ [ music complements of: http://incompetech.com/ ]

The Hannover 601 is a streetcar, or Straßenbahn, manufactured in Germany in 1970. It was used as a prototype for the public transit system in Hannover. It was shipped to Canada in the early 1970s and used as the prototype for Edmonton's Light Rail Transit system (LRT). The Hannover 601 has been a tourist attraction in Edmonton since then and is now being decommissioned and sent back to a museum in Germany. This video shows the last run of the Hannover 601 in Edmonton where I was a passenger. It started in Old Strathcona, crossed the river on top of the High Level Bridge, went past the Legislature, and then to Jasper Avenue in the heart of downtown Edmonton.

Based on the most recent testing schedule provided by Thales Rail Signalling Solutions Inc., the City of Edmonton is cautiously optimistic the Metro Line LRT will open to public service in spring 2015. The Metro Line was originally scheduled to open in spring 2014, but the complexity of the interface between the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system and Edmonton’s existing LRT system requirements delayed completion of the project. Thales and the City have been working to resolve technological issues that must be addressed before the Metro Line can operate safely and reliably. “The CBTC signaling system is advanced technology that will optimize LRT operations and enhance train frequency on the Metro Line,” says Transportation Services General Manager Dorian Wandzura. “...

You may also notice that the cars Edmonton #33 and Melbourne #930 both appear on the Fort Edmonton Park line as well as the High Level Bridge line. The streetcars featured in this video include: Edmonton #1 (FEP) - streetcar built in 1908 by Ottawa Car Co. Edmo...
A rally and protest against Public-Private Partnerships (P3), especially relating to Edmonton's LRT, was held in front of City Hall on April 26, 2013. The protest was held during the Alberta Federation of Labour's conference and was attended by many union representatives.
Some of the problems really take their toll on this bike route. Width in some areas is OK, but could be wider, but some are very narrow. The curb ramps should align. If it was dark I would have trouble finding the ramps and I could fall off the curb, right where motor traffic would be. The crossing of the LRT is pretty bad, I had to get off my bike and walk. A bike route should never require this. Gate arms like they are for motor traffic should be used. To do otherwise makes me a second class citizen. Incidentally I am a Canadian citizen. Don't I have the same rights as a car and the same requirements for quality of infrastructure? Maintenance really needs to be updated in some areas, it needs to be swept, some bollards need to be removed, signs need to be added. Wayfinding needs to be ad...
