The Sahara (Arabic: الصحراء الكبرى, aṣ-ṣaḥrāʾ al-kubrā , 'the Greatest Desert') is the largest hot desert and third largest desert after Antarctica and the Arctic worldwide. Its surface area of 9,400,000 square kilometres (3,600,000 sq mi)—including the Libyan Desert—is comparable to the respective land areas of China or the United States. The desert comprises much of the land found within North Africa, excluding the fertile coastal region situated against the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlas Mountains of the Maghreb, and the Nile Valley of Egypt and Sudan. The Sahara stretches from the Red Sea in the east and the Mediterranean in the north, to the Atlantic Ocean in the west, where the landscape gradually transitions to a coastal plain. To the south, it is delimited by the Sahel, a belt of semi-arid tropical savanna around the Niger River valley and Sudan Region of Sub-Saharan Africa. The Sahara can be divided into several regions, including the western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Aïr Mountains, the Ténéré desert, and the Libyan Desert. Its name is derived from the plural Arabic language word for desert (صحارى ṣaḥārā [ˈsˤɑħɑːrɑː]).
The X Factor is a television music competition franchise created by Simon Cowell. It originated in the United Kingdom, where it was devised as a replacement for Pop Idol (2001–2003). It is held in various countries. The programmes are produced by executive producer Simon Cowell and his company SYCOtv. The "X Factor" of the title refers to the undefinable "something" that makes for star quality. The prize is usually a recording contract, in addition to the publicity that appearance in the later stages of the show itself generates, not only for the winner but also for other highly ranked contestants.
The similarities between The X Factor and Idols prompted Idol creator Simon Fuller, along with 19 Entertainment, to file a lawsuit against Cowell, SYCOtv, and FremantleMedia in 2004. An out-of-court settlement was reached in 2005 allowing Fuller to gain a 10% share in The X Factor format, and preventing an American version until 2010. Fuller later filed another lawsuit in 2011, claiming that he had also been promised that he would be credited as an executive producer of The X Factor USA, but that Syco, FremantleMedia, and Fox Broadcasting Company had failed to fulfill that promise; that lawsuit is pending.

Western Sahara (i/ˌwɛstərn səˈhɑːrə, -ˈhɛərə, -ˈhærə/;Arabic: الصحراء الغربية aṣ-Ṣaḥrā’ al-Gharbīyah; Spanish: Sahara Occidental; Berber: Taneẓroft Tutrimt) is a disputed territory in the Maghreb region of North Africa, bordered by Morocco to the north, Algeria to the northeast, Mauritania to the east and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Its surface area amounts to 266,000 square kilometres (103,000 sq mi). It is one of the most sparsely populated territories in the world, mainly consisting of desert flatlands. The population is estimated at just over 500,000, of which nearly 40% live in El Aaiún (also spelled Laâyoune), the largest city in Western Sahara.
Occupied by Spain in the late 19th century, the Western Sahara has been on the United Nations list of non-self-governing territories since 1963 after a Moroccan demand. It is the most populous territory on that list, and by far the largest in area. In 1965, the UN General Assembly adopted its first resolution on Western Sahara, asking Spain to decolonise the territory. One year later, a new resolution was passed by the General Assembly requesting that a referendum be held by Spain on self-determination.

In 2003, he released his first solo album, sung in Arabic and featuring his electric guitar. He is an innovator of Western Sahara's traditional hawl music. This video was produced 1998.

Travel video about destination Sahara. The Sahara is located in North Africa and is the biggest dry desert on Earth, measuring around nine million square kilometres. It is as large as the entire United States Of America, 26 times larger than Germany and covers one third of the African Continent. Most people think of the Sahara Desert as consisting mainly of sand. This is not true, as it is stone and rock that cover most of its surface. Its landscape features great plateaus of sandstone, volcanic sediment and 5 mountain ranges that rise to 3,000 metres above sea level. Despite the harsh environment, a lively and lucrative trans-Sahara trade developed across the desert around 1,000 BC. At first, it was the Carthaginians and 3 centuries later, trade reached a new high due to the Romans who ...

Take a tour of Life in the Sahara Desert in Morocco -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Almost as large as Europe, it is the world's largest desert except for Antarctica. Although the Sahara is mostly inhospitable, desert plants and animals have managed to survive here. Among those animals are humans, roughly 4 million of them, who dwell in the sands. Many of these people have adopted special ways of living to survive the desert climate. A good number are nomadic and follow the scarce resources of food and water. Some permanent civilizations, notably the Egyptians, have managed to make the Sahara their home. For many, there is a rugged beauty to the desert that must be recognized and respected. For example, the awesome Sahara...

Wow this tour absolutely swept me off my feet in the most exciting way possible. Heading into the Sahara Desert was something that needed to be ticked off the list and teaming up with Tenere Tours gave us the opportunity to see the Desert in ways just not possible on our own. Our four days went to quick with our new found two tour guides who became family by the end. I learnt a lot of things while traveling into the heart of the Sahara one being how good it feels to be away from technology. Sleeping under the most breathtaking view of the Milky Way, smoking some Moroccan Hash, riding camels and seeing how the locals live will remain with my forever. Travel video about destination Sahara Safari in Libya. The Libyan area of the Sahara fascinates with its varied landscapes of lakes set amid desert dunes, ancient towns built of mud, camps with straw-covered circular huts, prehistoric rock paintings and amazing multi-shaped stone formations. For centuries, Ghadames, an oasis town. has been the junction of several caravan routes and thanks to the Mare Spring it has benefitted from a good supply of water. The houses were small but beautifully decorated and red-framed mirrors assist in the illumination of the main room. The uppermost floors were for women only and they could spend their day unveiled. Ancient Garma was once the capital of the Garamante Realm, one of the most powerful Berber realms in North Africa and the Sahara. Greek and Roman...

If you want to ride on rocks, harsh arid land and mountains I guess Morocco would be the place to go, and yep thats what I found. This is definitely a hard barren place and the country is all made upon rock. I arrived by plane into the town of Ozauzazite at 2:30 am and met my guide who was going to take me on my tour. I wanted to travel by myself on this trip as I love to take photos and wanted the opportunity to stop were ever whenever I wanted and take photos without holding up a group. The experience of getting out of Casablanca to Ozauzazite was something out of a circus and arriving in a strange place in the early hours of the morning kept my guard up a little, and traveling for over 22 hours to get to this desert town I was eager to get my head onto a pillow and get some sleep. A hard-hitting film about the Tuareg people of North Africa, how they have been marginalised, divided, had their land stolen and their culture repressed. Filming in secret, with no travel documents and no licence to film, Akli Sh’kka, his cameraman and guide set out to tell the story of the people who live in the Sahara Desert. Passing through difficult terrain, they met with various tribes throughout the desert and in some villages. Their aim? Simply to establish the truth about Tenere, one of the least-known places on the planet. That, alas, meant exposing the intolerable political situation of the Tuareg. The film makers fervently hope that they have been able to bring home to the outside world the realities of this unknown land, and that their film will engage the human sympathies o...
There is something about deserts that appeal and fascinate me - the magnitude, the dunes, the shades and the simplicity. Our visit to the nomads that live in the desert was the highlight of our travel to Morocco. Our guide, who was himself a nomad for ten years, opened a new world of discovery for us. Life in the desert couldn't be more distant from our modern life in Iceland and I am certain that these people would never thrive in our culture or environment, just as we could not thrive in theirs. If we learned to respect each other's lifestyle, culture and religions - more then we do - then we could start to appreciate and enjoy the variation that this world has to offer.
