Teen drama

A teen drama is a type of drama series with a major focus on teenage characters. The genre was relatively non-existent during the first 45 years of television. It came into prominence in the early 1990s, especially with the popularity of the Fox series Beverly Hills, 90210. After 90210 became a success, television writers and producers realized the potential for this new genre to reach out to a previously ignored demographic. In the past, most series that maintained a focus on teenagers had been sitcoms, while adolescents in drama series were usually part of a larger ensemble that included adults and children.

More often than not, teen dramas have soap opera elements, incorporating one or more ongoing story arcs spanning several episodes. The young characters must deal with the dramatic ups and downs of their friendships and romances while facing an array of issues thought to be typical of adolescence. There have also been many successful teen-based series with major science fiction, fantasy and action/adventure themes.

Studio C

Studio C is a sketch comedy television show produced in Utah by BYUtv. The show traces its roots to the BYU sketch comedy troupe Divine Comedy, of which all ten cast members are current or former members. The show aims to produce clean, family-oriented comedy for a national audience, shedding the BYU-oriented humor of Divine Comedy. The show was originally planned to be named Common Room until being changed to its current name, a reference to the studio in the BYU Broadcasting Building where the show is primarily filmed in front of a live audience. The sixth season premiered in September 2015. They have also created, "Leave No Fan Behind" and "Christmas Special Live Event", which are both live YouTube events. This lets fans watch the cast play games and act out skits, as well as ask questions on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, for them to answer during the events.

Studio C currently has a YouTube channel with over 500,000 subscribers. Their channel features many skits from the show, along with a few YouTube exclusives. Studio C's most popular video is "Top Soccer Shootout Ever With Scott Sterling", which currently has over 34.7 million views on YouTube. Studio C posts new videos on YouTube every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The Sisterhood

The Sisterhood was a side project by singer Andrew Eldritch that recorded songs which he had intended for a second album by the Sisters of Mercy with guest musicians.

Background

After the March 1985 release of the first Sisters of Mercy album First and Last and Always the band prepared themselves for a follow-up. Eldritch: "The next Sisters album was going to be called 'Left On Mission and Revenge'."

Singer Andrew Eldritch saw the time ripe for a change of direction: "I always wanted to do something different, because whatever we did it all eventually sounded the same." "I wanted to find out how to record songs without any rock structures and especially without guitars."

Together with guitarist Wayne Hussey Eldritch went to Hamburg-Bramfeld during August and September 1985 to compose new material. Wayne Hussey: "I went to Hamburg for a month with Andrew to try and write songs for the second Sisters album, and we came back with all my ideas rejected and Andrew's very skeletal." "Andrew rejected all my songs and let me work on one single chord all the time: 'Here's my song - E minor!"

Sisterhood Is Forever

Sisterhood Is Forever: The Women's Anthology for a New Millennium is a 2003 anthology of feminist writings edited by Robin Morgan. Sisterhood Is Forever has over fifty women contributing sixty original essays written specifically for it.Sisterhood is Forever is the follow up to Sisterhood Is Global: The International Women's Movement Anthology, which itself is the follow up to Sisterhood is Powerful: An Anthology of Writings From The Women's Liberation Movement.Sisterhood Is Forever shows the reader where feminism has been and what it had accomplished by 2003. The essayists are a diverse group, with varying ages and backgrounds. Essays range in tone from scholarly to narrative and provide both conservative and liberal view points. The focus is on feminism in the United States. The book addresses why feminism is still needed in the 21st century, providing "alarming" statistics about the status of women in the United States in Morgan's introduction.

Reception

Sisterhood Is Forever was considered "multifaceted and compelling" by Publishers Weekly.Robin Morgan's touch can clearly be seen in the book, showing a clear sense of vision through her choices of essays and her footnotes throughout. While some critics felt that focusing on the U.S. was "problematic," others felt that it made sense, especially in the wake of 9/11.

The Sisterhood of Night

The Sisterhood of Night is a 2014 film directed by Caryn Waechter and written by Marilyn Fu based on a short story by Steven Millhauser. The film premiered at the 2014 Woodstock Film Festival.

Plot

The story begins in Kingston, New York where Emily Parris (Kara Hayward) decides to get back at her fellow classmate, Mary Warren (Georgie Henley), for ruining her audition for a school play. While Mary, forced by the theatre teacher, holds her audition, Emily steals Mary's phone and publishes all of Mary's text on her blog. Mary then retaliates by calling Emily a blog whore in front of the whole school, which landed both girls in the guidance counselor, Gordy Gambhir's (Kal Penn) office. Later that night, Mary writes on her Facebook wall that she will be taking a vow of silence, and afterwards deletes her Facebook and all other social media accounts. This is when Mary gets the idea to create the Sisterhood, and the first members she recruits are Catherine Huang (Willa Cuthrell) and Lavinia Hall (Olivia DeJonge). Together, the three girls venture out into the night, disappearing into the forest by the city border, and begin their ritual.
