Queen Elizabeth, Queen Elisabeth, or Elizabeth the Queen may refer to:
Nearly two years after the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has reopened to the public. It has had a bit of a makeover, but for the traditionalists among you there are still plenty of memorable sights to see. Video maker Geoff Marshall popped along to see what highlights, both old and new, can be found.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is open to the public after having been the home of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for amazing athletes across the globe. It now welcomes everyone to enjoy sandcastles, fun at the fair and amazing views of the iconic Stadium, ArcelorMittal Orbit and the London Aquatics Centre. The next major event to thrill the crowds is cycling at the Lee Valley Velo Park. Missing from London for 35 years the new Six Day racing will see a reboot of the traditional six-day format. It will happen between 18 – 23 October at Lee Valley Velo Park. In 2016 Premier League football club West Ham will move in to the Olympic Stadium with all home games being played there from the start of 2016-17 season connect http://ynuk.tv like http://www.facebook.com/YNUKtv follow http://w...
The rock taken from this quarry was used at the turn of the 20th century to build Vancouvers first roads. By 1911 the quarry had closed and sat as an unused eyesore for 3 decades. It was named Queen Elizabeth Park in 1939 after a visit by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II's mother). In the 1940's the Vancouver Parks Board began to incrementally transform the overgrown hillsides into a civic arboretum. I filmed this with my wonky cell phone so it made for a bumpy ride. I couldn't see what I was filming from the glare on the screen but managed to get things somewhat centered. I started with just ambient sounds from the park but someone decided to throw a party/reception at the foot of the park and had a DJ squawking on a loudspeaker so I ended up adding music: James Ho...
Queen Elizabeth Park is a municipal park located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on Little Mountain (elevation approximately 168 metres or 550 feet above sea level). Its surface was scarred at the turn of the twentieth century when it was quarried for its rock, which served to build Vancouver's first roadways. In 1930, the park's floral future was somewhat revealed when the BC Tulip Association suggested the notion of transforming the quarries into sunken gardens. By the end of that decade, the site had been turned over to the Vancouver Park Board for park and recreation purposes, and was dedicated as such by King George VI and his consort, Queen Elizabeth (the mother of Queen Elizabeth II) on their much lauded visit to Vancouver in 1939, as King and Queen of Canada. From that tim...
Take a look at how Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park's Stadium is being bought to life ahead of this year's Rugby World Cup and becoming the permanent home of West Ham United and National Competition Centre for athletics in the UK in 2016. Filmed over a three month period between October and December 2014, the timelapse footage captures the first piece of roof panelling being lifted into place. When complete the new roof will be twice the size of the original at around 45,000 square metres. At 84 metres at its deepest point it will be the longest cantilevered roof of its type in the world and will cover every seat in the Stadium, improving acoustics and the spectator experience for football matches, other sporting events and concerts. Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, British Columbia is the second most visited park next to Stanley Park. When living in the Vancouver in the 60's my family would come at least once a month to enjoy the flowers, open spaces and quiet peaceful beauty. I haven't been back to Queen Elizabeth Park for around 30 years and that's a pity. It is beautiful and we will be back before the end of summer to see all the flowers blooming. Music:
The ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower is a 114.5-metre-tall (376 ft) sculpture and observation tower in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London. It is Britain's largest piece of public art, and is intended to be a permanent lasting legacy of London's hosting of the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, assisting in the post-Olympics regeneration of the Stratford area. Sited between the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre, it allows visitors to view the whole Olympic Park from two observation platforms. Orbit was designed by Turner-Prize winning artist Sir Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond of engineering Group Arup. Announced on 31 March 2010, it was expected to be completed by December 2011. The project came about after Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Olympics Minister Tessa ...
