Bou is a commune in the Loiret department in north-central France. The village is situated in the greater Orléans area, in a meander of the river Loire, 14km east of Orléans and 9km west of the town of Jargeau. Bou is separated by fields from the villages of Mardié and Chécy, which lie to the north. The village of Bou was traditionally an agricultural area, producing cereal crops and vegetables and a local wine known as Gris-meunier. The inhabitants of Bou are known as Boumiens.
Sidi Bou Said (Tunisian Arabic: سيدي بو سعيد Sīdi Bū Sɛīd) a town in northern Tunisia located about 20 km from the capital, Tunis.
Named for a religious figure who lived there, Abou Said ibn Khalef ibn Yahia Ettamini el Beji (previously it was called Jabal el-Menar). The town itself is a tourist attraction and is known for its extensive use of blue and white. Souvenirs can be bought in the main street. It can be reached by a TGM train, which runs from Tunis to La Marsa.
Sidi Bou Said has a reputation as a town of artists. Artists who have lived in or visited Sidi Bou Said include Paul Klee, Gustave-Henri Jossot, August Macke and Louis Moillet. Tunisian artists in Sidi Bou Said are members of École de Tunis (painting school of Tunis), such as Yahia Turki, Brahim Dhahak and Ammar Farhat. French philosopher Michel Foucault lived there for a number of years while teaching at the University of Tunis.
In the 12th century/13th century AD Abu Said Ibn Khalaf Yahya al-Tamimi al-Beji arrived in the village of Jabal el-Menar and established a sanctuary. After his death in 1231, he was buried there. In the 18th century Turkish governors of Tunis and wealthy citizens of the latter built residences in Sidi Bou Said.

Sidi Bou Said "Ode To Drink" [from "Bodies" (1995)] I do not own the music. If you like what you hear - try buying the album.
Monday 6th August We took the TGM train past the Carthage stations to Sidi Bou Said, a beautiful, and touristy, village on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean. Lots of traditional blue and white buildings. We did the touristy thing and visited a traditional house, where we saw a panorama of the town and drank delicious mint tea.Lunch was at Le Chargui restaurant. On our way back down the hill we joined the queue to fill our water bottles at an outlet. One young man near the front, seeing how few bottles we had compared to the rest of the crowd, kindly took our bottles and filled them for us.
In this episode, walk through the Medina of Tunis (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and discover several palaces (Dar El Jeld, Dar Lasram...), tunisian handicraft that combines tradition and modernity, and savour local gastronomy. In Sidi Bou Saïd, share a delicious tea with pine nuts and a breathtaking view. Meet tunisian YouTubers and Instagramers, then take golf lessons with Lilia, a professional golfer. "Twilight Eyes" was the first single of Sidi Bou Said in 1993. Biography (from Wikipedia) : Sidi Bou Said were a London based rock band, who existed during the 1990's. Their music combined an indie rock/folk sound with complex arrangements and literate lyrics. They were often compared to Throwing Muses and the Pixies, with whom they shared a taste for sometimes uncomfortable lyrical themes - murder, religion, the workings of the human body and surrealist stories and films. Their name comes from a town in Tunisia. Sidi Bou Said had two albums produced by members of Cardiacs and are regular contributors to their stage shows and recordings. In recent years, the band have reformed under the name, "Tetra," and played a reunion gig on 15th December 2005, again using the Sidi Bou Said name....
This early years Sidi Bou Said recording was filmed for their second ultimate records release.. in 1993

Also, the great silo of the Heri and Dar El-Ma's building dates back to this time, the end of the 17th century. Tunisisa was established by the Phoenicians, but during its eventful history it belonged to the Roman Empire, was under Spanish, Turkish and Arab influences, and later under the French rule. Its architecture, art and culture all reflect this diversity. The ruins of the ancient metropolis of Carthage, the sand beaches of Hammamet, the old town of Tunis, the bazaars of Sousse, the mystical salt lake, the treasures of the Bardo Museum, the cave houses of Matmata, the palm trees of Tozeur, the bay and fish market of Kelibia, the Roman amphitheatre of El Djem, the blue and white houses of Sidi bou Said, the minarets, the oases of Chebika, the monumental buildings of the Ribats, the camels and the modern luxury hotels all are parts of the colorful mosaic, which is called Tunisia. --------------...

Oh, we ain't got a barrel of money
Maybe we're ragged and funny
But we'll travel along singing a song
Side by side.
Don't know what's coming tomorrow
Maybe it's trouble and sorrow
But we'll travel the road sharin' our load
Side by side.
Through all kind of weather
What if the sky should fall
As long as we're together
It doesn't matter at all.
When they've all had their quarrels and parted
We'll be the same as we started
Just to travel along singing a song
Side by side.

When they've all had their quarrels and parted
We'll be the same as we started
Just to travel along singing a song
Side by side.
