The Biggest Loser returns tonight with Davina McCall, welcoming 14 overweight contestants who are desperate to change their lives, to a beautiful house in Leicestershire. In a bid to shed as much weight as they can --through rigorous exercise, healthy eating and sheer determination -- the contestants will battle it out in the hope of becomingThe Biggest Loser 2012.
In this first episode, viewers meet the UK's heaviest ever Biggest Loser contestant, as well as seeing oneteam member making a devastating discovery which leaves them alone to face the trials ahead.
Tonight's series premiere is full of surprises for our seven brave pairs of contestants; they experience a major shock, facing their families and their fears in a hometown weigh-in; and there's an even more shocking start to the competition as Davina sets them an opening challenge before they even get chance to unpack their bags - to run 5K to the Biggest Loser house.
This is the contestants' first experience of the Biggest Loser trainers. Veteran Biggest Loser Trainer Richard Callender is this year joined by 2010 Personal Trainer of the Year, Charlotte Ord, and ex-Special Forces, Rob Edmond.
Each trainer brings their special motivational techniques and physical expertise to change the contestants' lives for the better and help them achieve their short term aim, to stay in The Biggest Loser house for as long as possible.
But first things first, the contestants must make it to the house. The couple who arrive over the finish line first have immunity at this week's while the couple who arrive last are automatically up for eliminationand will face the couple who have lost the least amount of weight at the end of the week.
It's a rude awakening for the contestants and this is just the beginning -- over the next eight weeks they must lose as much weight as possible to avoid falling below the yellow line and facing elimination in order to stand a chance of winning the £25,000 prize money and be crowned The Biggest Loser 2012.

It's week three and fierce rivalries are emerging within the group.
There are two birthdays to celebrate, but a Biggest Loser party wouldn't be complete without a trial and the contestants are brought face-to-face with their old enemy -- food.
Our Biggest Losers must ascertain which choices are going to lead them to victory.
Whilst their knowledge and resolve are tested, one birthday girl is given the ultimate gift but will this create sadness for a fellow contestant?
Also in tonight's episode, tensions run high amongst trainers and contestants alike in Last Chance Training. The gap is widening between the contestants who are giving it their all and those who are slacking. While some contestants seem distracted, the trainers' patience is beginning to wear thin.....
The third challenge is a water-based assault course, 'Splashdown', involving beams, ropes and inflatables.
As always the challenge determines who will face the all-important weekly Weigh-in with a penalty and who will be immune from elimination.
However, not everyone is au fait with the water-based challenge, bringing tears and tantrums. Will these individuals overcome their fears for the sake of their team mate?
It's sink or swim time for the teams as we find out at the Weigh-in who will stay afloat for another week?

The Biggest Loser is coming under fire. One former contestant claims that they forced her to gain weight before the show, and then pushed drugs on her and other contestants to lose weight quickly. “Lezlye Donahue survived Hurricane Katrina. Going on “The Biggest Loser,” she says, was worse than that.
“It’s my biggest nightmare,” she says, “and it’s with me to this day.”
Following a controversial study that claims to explain why almost all “Biggest Loser” contestants regain massive amounts of weight, numerous ex-Losers reached out to The Post to dispute its findings — exclusively revealing that the show encouraged contestants to take street drugs while starving themselves and to lie about how much weight they were losing.
The federally funded study, conducted by Dr. Kevin Hall at the National Institutes of Health and published two weeks ago, says changing metabolic rates, hormone levels, and genetic predispositions explain post-show weight gain.
What’s missing, former Losers tell The Post, is any examination of the show’s secret and brutal tactics, which include providing illicit drugs to contestants and submitting them to questionable medical exams by the show’s resident doctor, Rob Huizenga, known as “Dr. H.”

There have been 74 winners of The Biggest Loser worldwide, with the most recent being Margie Cummins from Australia. Danny Cahill from The Biggest Loser U.S Season 8 holds the record for the worlds biggest loser shedding a staggering 55.6% of his body weight with Season 7 Winner Helen Philips not far behind with 54% of weight lost , Jodie Prenger from the UK became the world's first female Biggest Loser losing 119 with a total percentage of weight loss of 46.85% of her body weight

Also in tonight's episode, tensions run high amongst trainers and contestants alike in Last Chance Training. The gap is widening between the contestants who are giving it their all and those who are slacking. While some contestants seem distracted, the trainers' patience is beginning to wear thin..... The third challenge is a water-based assault course, 'Splashdown', involving beams, ropes and inflatables.
