Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431–1476), also known by his patronymic name Dracula (son of the Dragon, after his father Vlad II Dracul), and posthumously dubbed Vlad the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Țepeș pronounced [ˈvlad ˈt͡sepeʃ]), was a three-time Voivode of Wallachia, ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462, the period of the incipient Ottoman conquest of the Balkans. His father was a member of the Order of the Dragon (Dracul) which was founded to protect Christianity in Europe.

Vlad III spent much of his rule campaigning against the Ottoman Empire and its expansion. As the cognomen 'The Impaler' suggests, his practice of impaling his enemies is central to his historical reputation. During his lifetime, his reputation for excessive cruelty spread abroad, to Germany and elsewhere in Europe. The total number of his victims is estimated in the tens of thousands. The name of the vampire Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula was inspired by Vlad's patronymic.

During his life Vlad wrote his name in Latin documents as Wladislaus Dragwlya, vaivoda partium Transalpinarum (1475).

He explained that it was always Pac's choice, but nonetheless, he didn't have to pursue that lifestyle, "They shouldn't like you no better if you were a rapper or if—hey, now you got to put this rag in your back pocket." • Eddie Griffin On Bill Cosby: Black Male Stars Don't Leave This Business Clean

http://www.vladtv.com - During our hilarious - albeit serious - interview with comedian Eddie Griffin, the established Hollywood actor decided to share tales of his personal bouts with both Bill Cosby and Michael Jackson. Griffin was (and continues to be) a supporter of the two men who have faced an onslaught of ridicule for sexual allegations in numerous separate cases. "There is a systematic effort to destroy every Black male entertainer's image," Eddie told DJ Vlad. "They want all of us to have an asterisk by our name." Griffin believes, like Michael and Bill, that most African-American male entertainers are singled out for their illicit behavior. "Nobody leaves this business clean," he stated while pointing out the cases of others. "You're not going to die clean." Watch as Eddie Griff...

During the conversation Charlamagne also specifically addressed Stacey's comment about doing away with BET, as he stated that no one would know the actress if it weren't for BET and other Black media outlets. Moving along, Charlamagne voiced his displeasure with Joseph Fiennes, a White actor, playing Michael Jackson in an upcoming movie. The Breakfast Club host explained that despite Michael lig...

"I'm trying to make in-depth music about things that matter to people and things that need a little more analysis." From political regime to breeding camps, Immortal Technique is knowledgeable in a plethora of areas, and is never afraid to vocalize his opinion, even when it comes to standing up to people in jail. As he served a year bid, Immortal Technique stood up for a young man who was being targeted by two older men. A lot of people believe being gay stems from jail culture, a stance this political emcee doesn't side with. If anything, Immortal Technique feels trauma influences homosexuality, especially after ...
  • The Vlad Couch' Ft. Lord Jamar (Episode 21) Part 1

http://www.vladtv.com - Like Charlamagne, Lord Jamar hasn't taken a seat on the Vlad Couch for quite some time, so it's only right that we asked him about literally every topic that has taken over the hip-hop world in the past month or so. When asked about his thoughts on the Drake versus Meek Mill beef, it wasn't surprising when he called it "bulls***." "If I'm gonna look at it from a historical perspective, if I pull back and I look at all the battles and the great battles in hip-hop history, this one ain't s***," he tells us, admitting that none of the tracks were true "classics." This led him to a conversation on ghostwriting and Ar-Ab, a Philly lyricist Lord Jamar wasn't familiar with until the interview. Upon further listen, the Brand Nubian says "he kind blew both of them away to m...

  • The Vlad Couch Episode 13: David Banner (Full Interview)

http://www.vladtv.com - On this week's episode of "The Vlad Couch," insightful rapper David Banner sat with us to chop it up about social injustices in America and what's he doing to make a change that will impact the Black community. "One of the reasons why I stopped doing hip-hop - up until just recently - was because I had an opportunity to travel internationally. And I got to see the way that America was depicting Black men here...we looked really bad, and I was a real big part of that." The activist took a hiatus from rap to pursue an acting career, but unfortunately, as director Craig Brewer put it, if you're a dark-skinned Black man over six feet tall you'll only be cast as a thug or other negative characters. Before delving into his personal life, the actor brings up the most talked about women in the past couple of months: Rachel Dolezal and Caitlyn Jenner. About five years ago he introduced Future as a "terrible lyricist but he makes great songs," which is rumored to be the reason the "DS2" rapper has never made an appearance on The Breakfast Club. They've crossed paths since then and are now cordial, and according to Charlamagne, now that he has been lifted from "Ciara's curse," Future is doing better than ever. "Oh yeah, Ciara's p**** is definitely cursed. Absolutely. I mean if you look at anybody who dealt with Ciara, they've fallen off a little bit," he presumes, including 50 Cent, Bow Wow and Amare Stoudemire in the process. Charlamagne also speaks on racism and the n-word, a term he says White people use because of how Black people have flipped it. "We made the n-word cool, and what happens when we make something cool? White people take it from us," he states whilst agreeing that Chet Haze's video on using the n-word as a term of endearment "was absolutely accurate." During this exclusive clip Charlamagne and DJ Vlad debate over Nas' greatest albums. As the majority would agree, Nas' debut Illmatic and the albums that followed certified him as one of hip-hop's elite. Though Charlamagne agrees, he does feel Nas' first body of work wasn't his best while DJ Vlad feels Illmatic was the only one that can be considered a classic. "Nas has 3, maybe four classics," argued Charlamagne. "We're just hung up on nostalgia." After the two agreed "Nas has made better work since Illmatic," they went on to discuss Lauryn Hill and more. Quentin Miller confirmed a relatively-unknown tale involving him and the Dream Chasers while chopping it up with DJ Vlad. During the interview, Vlad shows Miller an unreleased clip from his Taxstone interview where he revealed knowledge about Meek Mill confronting Miller at a Los Angeles Nike store. After reviewing the clip, Quentin admits "it's true" before describing what all happened that day. According to Miller, Meek Mill didn't care for his statement denying he was Drake's ghostwriter last Summer. "I shed blood in the Nike store," Quentin confessed as he recalled getting confronted by the group who first wanted him to retract his claim in front of paparazzi. After telling them no, the Dream Chasers proceeded to beat him up as he made Meek Mill out to be a liar. "I'm not a street n***a so you can have it," Miller states in reference to Meek. "You can have the tough title - that doesn't do anything for me." In the Taxstone interview, the media insider also claimed Miller was beat up because he wouldn't write for Meek Mill, a rumor the rapper wants no parts of. "I'm not going into detail about that," he firmly stated. Catch the entire story above.

Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431–1476/77), was a member of the House of Drăculești, a branch of the House of Basarab, also known, using his patronymic, as (Vlad) Drăculea or (Vlad) Dracula. He was posthumously dubbed Vlad the Impaler, and was a three-time Voivode of Wallachia, ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462, the period of the incipient Ottoman conquest of the Balkans. His father, Vlad II Dracul, was a member of the Order of the Dragon, which was founded to protect Christianity in Eastern Europe. Vlad III is revered as a folk hero in Romania as well as other parts of Europe for his protection of the Romanian population both south and north of the Danube. A significant number of Romanian and Bulgarian common folk and remaining boyars moved north of the Danube to Wallachia, recognized his leadership and settled there following his raids on the Ottomans.

MC Eiht opens up about celebrities and their gang affiliation during this interview with DJ Vlad. The Compton native and Crip member talks about knowing Tupac and explains how his connection with gangs led to his demise. The rapper says that Tupac began stamping himself with the Mob Piru in hopes to show loyalty, but says the star didn't have to prove anything. "It's certain things that you don't do just to want to belong." He explained that it was always Pac's choice, but nonetheless, he didn't have to pursue that lifestyle, "They shouldn't like you no better if you were a rapper or if—hey, now you got to put this rag in your back pocket." Nearly 20 years after Tupac's death, singer Chris Brown is now in a similar position for his affiliation with Bloods. The Tappahannock, VA. native was thrown into immediate stardom as a teen, and now at 26, he's a multimillionaire, with many accolades, linked to one of the biggest gangs. Although Brown is scrutinized, MC Eight says gangbanging has changed since his young days. "It's not a life and death situation. When I gangbanged it was a life and death situation. I didn't get to go to Grammy parties when I was gangbanging and even when I started rapping, I was still affiliating myself. So it was more for me being accepted going back to the block as to getting invited to some body's party."

Growing up with different mothers, Mopreme and Tupac didn't really reconnect until Mopreme settled in Oakland, California after leaving the military. The Southside Jamaica, Queens native says 'Pac is one of the most influential artists of our time, and newcomers should be taking notes. Aside from sharing Tupac stories, Mopreme touches on police brutality then and now. "We were dealing with those issues that's happening right now in 2015 in 1990," he states. At one point he recalls Tupac fighting a case in Atlanta against two drunk cops and winning after he noticed them harassing a Black kid. Apparently the officers stole weapons from the police station's evidence and wildly waving them before "they ran and got shot in the a**," Mopreme recalls. He also says it was a changing point in 'Pac's life as well. "You're not going to die clean." Stacey Dash grabbed headlines earlier this year after she said that BET and Black History Month should be done away with, as she believes "we should either have segregation or integration." We got Charlamagne's thoughts on the situation during a recent sit-down, and the famed radio host told us that while he still thinks Stacey is a beautiful woman, he added that she should be seen and not heard. The Breakfast Club host explained that despite Michael lightening his skin in later years, he was still an African American man and Charlamagne thinks Jackson should be played by a Black man. http://www.vladtv.com - Intellectual individual Immortal Technique always covers a lot of what other rappers refuse to talk about, in both real-life conversations and his music. If anything, Immortal Technique feels trauma influences homosexuality, especially after hearing Antoine Dodson's story and knowing someone personally whose experience caused them to switch sides. Immortal Technique also shares his thoughts on Creflo Dollar requesting (and later receiving approval for) a $65 million jet, classism, and Tom Hanks' son, Chet Haze, who feels it's okay to use the n-word although he's White. "You can't love hip-hop without loving the people that created it," he states, advising Chet Haze to do some research on the Black culture and fully submerge in it before he claims to be a part of a community he's long aspired to be in. "Learn something about us, because you can't just be along for the ride when you think it's cool to use that word." Press play to hear his views on Barack Obama - a man he says "has the face of helping dreamers" -, going back to the hood after reaching a certain level of fame, and the political impact Tupac Shakur would've had if he were alive today on the latest episode of "The Vlad Couch."

http://www.vladtv.com - Like Charlamagne, Lord Jamar hasn't taken a seat on the Vlad Couch for quite some time, so it's only right that we asked him about literally every topic that has taken over the hip-hop world in the past month or so. Upon further listen, the Brand Nubian says "he kind blew both of them away to me...That's some s*** I would play back to back." He then compares Drake to Ar-Ab - favoring Ar-Ab more - before jumping into another hip-hop beef. Listen on as he commentates on the rivalry between Ghostface Killah and Action Bronson, 50 Cent's bankruptcy, and Kylie Jenner's sex tape offer on the latest episode of The Vlad Couch.

Even when it comes to the infamous crew's name, N****s Wit Attitudes, Yella says "that's a statement that's so far ahead of itself." Despite their highly-publicized beefs throughout the late 80's/early 90's, DJ Yella recalls a specific time the group stuck together to perform their hit "F*** tha Police," the anti-cop record the F.B.I (or any other form of authority) wasn't too fond of. "Cube wasn't even at the end of his verse," DJ Yella recalls of the first and last time N.W.A. performed the track during a show in Detroit, Michigan. "They ran us out of that city." DJ Yella - who was a consultant for the biopic "Straight Outta Compton" - says he hasn't "done music since" Eazy E passed away due to complications from AIDS. He remembers the "Boyz-N-The Hood" performer "was not a natural rapper." "He had to be coached. But he had the sound," Yella recalls. Press play to hear more about Ice Cube's departure from the group, a possible N.W.A. reunion in the near-future, and why to this day DJ Yella hasn't let Dr. Dre know his answer when it came to signing with Death Row Records. http://www.vladtv.com - On this week's episode of "The Vlad Couch," insightful rapper David Banner sat with us to chop it up about social injustices in America and what's he doing to make a change that will impact the Black community. "I sat in LA for a year and barely got two auditions because I said I didn't wanna play that role again," Banner recalls, telling directors "I don't want to be your n******." David Banner also chatted with us about police brutality. He and Vlad both agreed that the rate police officers are killing Black men and children hasn't changed for decades, but social media is bringing light to it more than it ever has before. "The original job for a policeman was to catch escaped slaves and protect the property of slave-owners. And it has not changed," he detested. "The only way you're gonna stop police brutality is if those police's lives are threatened, or if something is gonna happen to their children. Or if something is gonna happen to their jobs, their money [or] their lives." Listen to our latest podcast to hear how David Banner wants to change hip-hop, shed more light on Southern artists and how he contributes to the Black community with his Heal the Hood Foundation above. http://www.vladtv.com - From bestiality to dealing coke, Lord Jamar covers it all during his latest sit down on "The Vlad Couch." It has become expected of the Brand Nubian emcee to give us some thought-provoking opinions on today's most controversial topics, but what may be the most interesting part of this particular podcast has nothing to do with the world and it's shortcomings at all. Before delving into his personal life, the actor brings up the most talked about women in the past couple of months: Rachel Dolezal and Caitlyn Jenner. Lord Jamar expresses his grievances with the two of them, though at the end of the day Rachel is still his "sweet Nubian neanderthal." He also sheds light on the past and current state of Black culture, how it's been stolen and feared by the White community for decades, and why he feels the future looks bleek if the government continues to anger the Black community. "Is this all coincidental that all these things are happening right now?" he rhetorically asks. "I just feel like they're really trying to incite Black people to do some s*** right now," he expresses before diving into his thoughts on present-day concentration camps. "They're already built," Lord Jamar believes. "And they're just waiting for a motherf***** to f*** up." After touching on Lil B, America's alleged "gay agenda," and why Europeans ultimately fear a Black planet, the topic gets a little more personal when Lord Jamar revisits his upbringing. A young Jamar used to frequent the projects at a young age, and eventually began selling coke at just 13-years-old. He then goes on to admit that he dabbled in his own product for the next six or so years, but a brush with death made him change his ways during his late teens. "The only thing that saved me was having knowledge of self," he tells us. He even alluded to trying heroin twice, although he didn't favor it. "I wanted to be up," Lord Jamar recalls as he reflects on his dark past. Find out more about the time he "came up short" during his dealer days, his master key theory and why he feels a woman can't do the the things a man can do on this exclusive episode of "The Vlad Couch."

Although it was short-lived, the South Central native has stories on end detailing her times with the N.W.A. crew, her relationships with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight, and the voice she didn't realize she had until the second grade. Michel'le has the singing voice of a goddess, though she speaks entirely different. During our latest Vlad Couch podcast, Michel'le explains the difference between her talking and singing voice and how her exceptionally unique sound sprung a record deal. Richard "Pee Wee" Kirkland sat down with DJ Vlad recently and gave him a lengthy look into his street ball and crime-ridden past. Born and raised in Harlem, NY, Pee Wee began playing basketball at 9 and, unbeknownst to himself, became one of the best in his age group. At 14 he broke the point record at his local community center, and to this day no one has matched or beat it. Later on in the conversation Pee Wee Kirkland discusses his ties to drugs and other crimes that eventually led to him serving time (or what he calls a "federal vacation"). Admitting he got caught in the illusion of it all, Pee Wee made it clear he's never sold drugs, but did partake in robbing a series of jewelry stores. "I never sold drugs. Never. What I did was I was involved with the life of crime not too far after I started basketball," Kirkland voiced to DJ Vlad, adding that it "put me in a position to be able to finance what eventually became a drug empire." Reality hit him three months after he plead guilty to conspiracy for a crime he didn't commit. "Nothing good is ever gonna happen concerning drugs - for nobody," he states before listing prison, witness protection and a graveyard as the only remaining options. "I think what may have saved my life was me going away." Watch and listen as Kirkland discusses turning down two basketball deals, having to witness his mother getting indicted and his decision to stay drug-free (including aspirin) above.

'The Vlad Couch' Ft. Charlamagne (Episode 15) Full Interview

http://www.vladtv.com - On this week's "The Vlad Couch" podcast, Charlamagne Tha God speaks on a plethora of topics, including his thoughts on why polygamy should be legalized, the popular Christ Bearer interview that he didn't watch ("I didn't want that in my spirit"), and why female hip-hop is currently prospering. He also shares his views on pretty much every major artist out at the moment, which he admits gets him into troublesome situations at times. "That's my problem, I get in trouble for speaking my honest opinion," he acknowledges. In the past, Charlamagne has gotten into mild altercations with Terrence J and even Future, a rapper he feels is flourishing right now. White people take it from us," he states whilst agreeing that Chet Haze's video on using the n-word as a term of endearment "was absolutely accurate." Press play to find out which female rapper is his favorite artist out right now, and hear what he has to say about Dej Loaf, Kanye West's return to hip-hop and more on the newest Vlad Couch podcast.
