Diana Damrau (born 31 May 1971 in Günzburg, Bavaria) is a German soprano opera singer.
Diana Damrau was born in 1971 in Günzburg, Bavaria, Germany, and began her operatic studies with Carmen Hanganu at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg. After graduating from music conservatory she worked in Salzburg with Hanna Ludwig. Her first operatic engagements were in Würzburg and subsequently the National Theatre Mannheim and Oper Frankfurt. Since then, she has sung throughout the world at venues such as the Vienna State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Royal Opera House, the Bavarian State Opera and the Salzburg Festival. She was invited to sing the title role in Antonio Salieri's Europa riconosciuta at the re-opening of La Scala, Milan in 2004, under the baton of Riccardo Muti.
The Queen of the Night from Mozart's The Magic Flute has been Damrau's most frequently performed role to date, as she has been engaged to perform it in over 15 productions at houses including Covent Garden, the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna State Opera, Oper Frankfurt and the Bavarian State Opera, Munich. Damrau made Metropolitan Opera history in the 2007/2008 season by appearing as both Pamina and Queen of the Night in the same run, but different performances. Other coloratura roles in her repertoire include Zerbinetta, Lucia, Elvira, Rosina, Gilda, Adina, Marie and Aminta. She also performs roles in the lyric repertoire including Manon, Donna Anna, Gretel and Pamina.
Jonas Kaufmann (born 10 July 1969) is a German operatic tenor. Although he has sung a variety of leading roles including both the Mozart and Wagner repertoire, he is particularly known for his performances in spinto roles such as Don José in Carmen, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur, and the title role in Don Carlos.
Kaufmann was born in Munich. His father worked for an insurance company, and his mother was a kindergarten teacher. He had one older sister. He started studying piano when he was eight, and he sang in his elementary school choir. Although he studied for math entrance exams, in the summer of 1989 he began his vocal training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. While studying, he sang some small roles at the Bavarian State Opera. He graduated from school in 1994.
In 1995, after a vocal crisis, Kaufmann received help from American baritone Michael Rhodes who taught him a "new way of singing" and how to become "more relaxed in my voice and in myself." In Kaufmann's book Meinen die wirklich mich? he said, "To find a Michael Rhodes that can really help you and bring you to success is really a great stroke of luck."
Tanto amar sin hablar
Y vivir para esperar
Tanto soñar
Con este día que hoy me das
Tanto amor en la piel
Serte fiel en mi interior
Tanto dolor
Que al fin desapareció
Por fin estas conmigo
Hay tanto de que hablar
Empápate en mis sueños
Y enséñame a volar
Hay tantas cosas por contestar
Que si me rendiré, no
Te amo sin miedo
Que si me alejare, no
Estoy aquí
Que si te entiendo bien, no
Pero te siento
No me hace falta más mi amor
Lo se
Tanta fe, tanto te imagine
Aquí de pie, mirándome
Que no lo puedo creer
Por fin estas conmigo
Hay tanto de que hablar
Empápate en mis sueños
Y enséñame a volar
Hay tantas cosas por contestar
Que si me rendiré, no
Te amo sin miedo
Que si me alejare, no
Estoy aquí
Que si te entiendo bien, no
Pero te siento
No me hace falta más
Mi amor
Que si me rendiré, no
Te amo sin miedo
Que si me alejare, no
Estoy aquí
Que si te entiendo bien, no
Pero te acepto
No me hace falta más, no
