Aashiqui 2 is a musical love story[4] with Rahul Jaykar (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Arohi Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor) as the lead characters. Aashiqui 2 takes you through a musical journey of two lovers who go through love and hate, twists and turbulence, success and failure in their lives. Will they accept their success and live life together or do their egos separate them forever??
Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt conceptualized in revisiting their one of the most successful romantic movie Aashiqui then produced by Gulshan Kumar. Aashiqui 2, set in modern day with modern tales of love, was officially announced in early 2012 scripted by Shagufta Rafiqui.
Soon after the announcement of the movie and post the scripting, there was a rumour of Tiger Shroff[5](son of Jackie Shroff) to be the lead actor in place of Rahul Roy in the older version. But T-Series and Bhatts finally announced the hero will be played by Aditya Roy Kapoor and the lead actress will be Shraddha Kapoor.
Daughter of Shakti Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, was earlier seen in Teen Patti, My Friend Pinto and Luv Ka The End and will play the female lead role played by Anu Agrawal in the Aashiqui. While Aditya Roy Kapoor, playing the character last portrayed by Rahul Roy in Aashiqui, is the kid brother of Siddharth Roy Kapoor and was last seen in Action Replayy and Guzaarish.
The movie was supposed to be released in the end of 2012 and then expected a Valentine release in 2013. But recent reports suggest an April 2013 release.[6]
As per reports, the release date of the film is 10th May 2013.[7]
The shoot went on floor in October 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa. The other locations used in the movie are Goa and Mumbai. Mohit Suri plans on finishing the shoot by December to release the movie in April 2013.[8][9]
The soundtrack is composed by Jeet Gangulli & Mithoon replacing Nadeem Shravan original Ashiqui duo. The song "Sanson ki Zaroorat" will be retained for the film.

Verse 1
Why should I even bother
Tomorrow's just another yesterday
A constant fight to get through
But still we're in to deep to run away
It's not a game we play
Chorus
We always push, and shove
A slow crash course in love
We try to rise, above
To know what's it's made of
I know somehow, someway
It's all about today
This is a slow,
Crash course in love
Verse 2
Can't walk the straight and narrow
Cause only losers take the easy way
We let our faults define us
We feed our demons, but we’re still ok
Heaven is hell to pay
Chorus
Break
We push
We shove
We crash
