This is the first thing we made with the mortiser. You can see the how it was made in this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2CGslzGdB4 It could certainly be improved but it did work quite well as it is. It’s a bit low, so there’s too much leaning over, and if there was suddenly lots of jobs for it, then it would be worth making some way to move the stock timber along without clamping/unclamping it. I sharpened the chain again and there was less tear-out than in the trial piece.
The timber used for this gate is only cheap white deal (spruce) because that’s all we had around – and also because I didn’t know whether I’d be wasting good wood if I couldn’t make accurate enough slots. Next time I’ll try to get some larch or Douglas Fir. Some people bolt their gates together, but they will sag unless the bolts are really tight. I used nails because they’re cheap.
The gate posts were already there – made of steel, so I had to weld up some hinges to fit both the gate and the post. All in all, a gate is quite a bit of work, but it’s a really satisfying thing to make and the mortiser saved hours of work. (I made 7 farm gates when I was a teenager for my parents – it was my first paid commission. I still remember how tedious and slow and exhausting the process was because everything was done by hand – drilling with a brace and bit, chiselling out the mortises, sawing down boards with a handsaw, the whole lot. This gate was MUCH quicker!)
Thanks to Madeline, Lisa, and Bernd - they were around when it was time to creosote and hang the gate, so of course they got roped in.

Swadeshi sugar mills is one of the largest sugar mills in West Champaran's Narkitiaganj city. Farmers, big or small, from all over Maniyatar block to Gauraha block, face a lot of difficulties when it comes to payment by the Swadeshi mill for their sugarcane crop. This year the wait for money stretched a bit too far. The farmers have credited their crop to the mill nearly 7 months ago. In spite of their regular visits to the mill, they haven't received anything.
- The problem we are facing here is that we have sold our sugarcane and haven't been paid.
- How much time since you have sold them your sugarcane?
- 6 months now.
- Haven't they paid you?
- Not yet.
- Why is the money blocked?
- The mill would have an answer to this. If we borrow money then we pay an interest, but when they keep our money from 6 months, we are never paid anything.
A small farmer from Tara Bosariya village has been bearing the brunt due to delay in payment. His family is completely dependent on agriculture and has grown sugarcane over nearly half his land. The mill hasn't paid him for his sugarcane which is why he has many difficulties to overcome, like food, clothing and children's education.
- What problems you currently face without money?
- Two of my children go to school, of which one son has dropped out. He asks for money and I am unable to give him. Me and my other son have illnesses to deal with.
Similarly, all the other farmers have other problems to overcome without being paid.
- You have sowed a lot of seed on your land and this year it hasn't rained too much. How will you meet your financial needs?
- We are clueless as we currently need to borrow at 5 percent or at the rate of 10 percent. We have to borrow money.
- How do you usually manage your expenses?
- We usually borrow money on interest or we have to rent out our land to the big farmers.
- Haven't you taken any action against the payment default by the company?
- We have approached them twice but none of the officers are willing to listen.
- Do they have no answer at all?
- They tell us that we'll get our money once the company makes money.
I am a farmer too and have 2 acres of land under sugarcane. I too have sold my crop and haven't received any money. I wish to see the farmers being paid fairly and that payments get cleared soon. I am going to submit an application regarding this issue, to the sugar mill along with my community.
I appeal to my viewers to please help my cause by calling Sugar Industries Department on 9571007226 and demanding clearance of dues and fair pay for the farmers.

Old MacDonald Had a Farm
"Old MacDonald Had a Farm" is a children's song and nursery rhyme about a farmer named MacDonald (or McDonald, Macdonald) and the various animals he keeps on his farm. Each verse of the song changes the name of the animal and its respective noise. In many versions, the song is cumulative, with the noises from all the earlier verses added to each subsequent verse. It has a Roud Folk Song Index number of 745.
Early versions
In the 1917 book Tommy's Tunes, a collection of World War I era songs by F. T. Nettleingham, the song "Ohio (Old Macdougal Had a Farm)" has quite similar lyrics—though with a slightly different farmer's name and refrain:
The Traditional Ballad Index consider the "Tommy's Tunes" version to be the earliest known version of "Old Macdonald Had a Farm", though it cites numerous variants, some of them much older.
Two of these variants were published in Vance Randolph's Ozark Folksongs in 1980. One was "Old Missouri", sung by a Mr. H. F. Walker of Missouri in 1922, a version that names different parts of the mule rather than different animals:

Farmer
A farmer (also called an agriculturer) is a person engaged in agriculture, raising living organisms for food or raw materials. The term usually applies to people who do some combination of raising field crops, orchards, vineyards, poultry, or other livestock. A farmer might own the farmed land or might work as a labourer on land owned by others, but in advanced economies, a farmer is usually a farm owner, while employees of the farm are known as farm workers, or farmhands. However, in the not so distant past a farmer was a person who promotes or improves the growth of (a plant, crop, etc.) by labor and attention, land or crops or raises animals (as livestock or fish).
History
Farming has been dated back as far as the Neolithic era. By the Bronze Age, the Sumerians had an agriculture specialized labour force by 5000–4000 BCE, and heavily depended on irrigation to grow crops. They relied on three-person teams when harvesting in the spring. The Ancient Egypt farmers farmed and relied and irrigated their water from the Nile.

Bit
A bit, also known as a Shannon, is the basic unit of information in computing and digital communications. A bit can have only one of two values, and may therefore be physically implemented with a two-state device. These values are most commonly represented as either a 0or1. The term bit is a portmanteau of binary digit.
The two values can also be interpreted as logical values (true/false, yes/no), algebraic signs (+/−), activation states (on/off), or any other two-valued attribute. The length of a binary number may be referred to as its bit-length.
In information theory, one bit is typically defined as the uncertainty of a binary random variable that is 0 or 1 with equal probability, or the information that is gained when the value of such a variable becomes known.

This is the first thing we made with the mortiser. You can see the how it was made in this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2CGslzGdB4 It could certainly be improved but it did work quite well as it is. It’s a bit low, so there’s too much leaning over, and if there was suddenly lots of jobs for it, then it would be worth making some way to move the stock timber along without clamping/unclamping it. I sharpened the chain again and there was less tear-out than in the trial piece. The timber used for this gate is only cheap white deal (spruce) because that’s all we had around – and also because I didn’t know whether I’d be wasting good wood if I couldn’t make accurate enough slots. Next time I’ll try to get some larch or Douglas Fir. Some people bolt their gates together, but they will sag unless the bolts are really tight. I used nails because they’re cheap. The gate posts were already there – made of steel, so I had to weld up some hinges to fit both the gate and the post. All in all, a gate is quite a bit of work, but it’s a really satisfying thing to make and the mortiser saved hours of work. (I made 7 farm gates when I was a teenager for my parents – it was my first paid commission. I still remember how tedious and slow and exhausting the process was because everything was done by hand – drilling with a brace and bit, chiselling out the mortises, sawing down boards with a handsaw, the whole lot. This gate was MUCH quicker!) Thanks to Madeline, Lisa, and Bernd - they were around when it was time to creosote and hang the gate, so of course they got roped in. Swadeshi sugar mills is one of the largest sugar mills in West Champaran's Narkitiaganj city. Farmers, big or small, from all over Maniyatar block to Gauraha block, face a lot of difficulties when it comes to payment by the Swadeshi mill for their sugarcane crop. This year the wait for money stretched a bit too far. The farmers have credited their crop to the mill nearly 7 months ago. In spite of their regular visits to the mill, they haven't received anything. - The problem we are facing here is that we have sold our sugarcane and haven't been paid. - How much time since you have sold them your sugarcane? - 6 months now. - Haven't they paid you? - Not yet. - Why is the money blocked? - The mill would have an answer to this. If we borrow money then we pay an interest, but when they keep our money from 6 months, we are never paid anything. A small farmer from Tara Bosariya village has been bearing the brunt due to delay in payment. His family is completely dependent on agriculture and has grown sugarcane over nearly half his land. The mill hasn't paid him for his sugarcane which is why he has many difficulties to overcome, like food, clothing and children's education. - What problems you currently face without money? - Two of my children go to school, of which one son has dropped out. He asks for money and I am unable to give him. Me and my other son have illnesses to deal with. Similarly, all the other farmers have other problems to overcome without being paid. - You have sowed a lot of seed on your land and this year it hasn't rained too much. How will you meet your financial needs? - We are clueless as we currently need to borrow at 5 percent or at the rate of 10 percent. We have to borrow money. - How do you usually manage your expenses? - We usually borrow money on interest or we have to rent out our land to the big farmers. - Haven't you taken any action against the payment default by the company? - We have approached them twice but none of the officers are willing to listen. - Do they have no answer at all? - They tell us that we'll get our money once the company makes money. I am a farmer too and have 2 acres of land under sugarcane. I too have sold my crop and haven't received any money. I wish to see the farmers being paid fairly and that payments get cleared soon. I am going to submit an application regarding this issue, to the sugar mill along with my community. I appeal to my viewers to please help my cause by calling Sugar Industries Department on 9571007226 and demanding clearance of dues and fair pay for the farmers. This is the first thing we made with the mortiser. You can see the how it was made in this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2CGslzGdB4 It could certainly be improved but it did work quite well as it is. It’s a bit low, so there’s too much leaning over, and if there was suddenly lots of jobs for it, then it would be worth making some way to move the stock timber along without clamping/unclamping it. I sharpened the chain again and there was less tear-out than in the trial piece.
The timber used for this gate is only cheap white deal (spruce) because that’s all we had around – and also because I didn’t know whether I’d be wasting good wood if I couldn’t make accurate enough slots. Next time I’ll try to get some larch or Douglas Fir. Some people bolt their gates together, but they will sag unless the bolts are really tight. I used nails because they’re cheap.
The gate posts were already there – made of steel, so I had to weld up some hinges to fit both the gate and the post. All in all, a gate is quite a bit of work, but it’s a really satisfying thing to make and the mortiser saved hours of work. (I made 7 farm gates when I was a teenager for my parents – it was my first paid commission. I still remember how tedious and slow and exhausting the process was because everything was done by hand – drilling with a brace and bit, chiselling out the mortises, sawing down boards with a handsaw, the whole lot. This gate was MUCH quicker!)
Thanks to Madeline, Lisa, and Bernd - they were around when it was time to creosote and hang the gate, so of course they got roped in.

Swadeshi sugar mills is one of the largest sugar mills in West Champaran's Narkitiaganj city. Farmers, big or small, from all over Maniyatar block to Gauraha block, face a lot of difficulties when it comes to payment by the Swadeshi mill for their sugarcane crop. This year the wait for money stretched a bit too far. The farmers have credited their crop to the mill nearly 7 months ago. In spite of their regular visits to the mill, they haven't received anything.
- The problem we are facing here is that we have sold our sugarcane and haven't been paid.
- How much time since you have sold them your sugarcane?
- 6 months now.
- Haven't they paid you?
- Not yet.
- Why is the money blocked?
- The mill would have an answer to this. If we borrow money then we pay an interest, but when they keep our money from 6 months, we are never paid anything.
A small farmer from Tara Bosariya village has been bearing the brunt due to delay in payment. His family is completely dependent on agriculture and has grown sugarcane over nearly half his land. The mill hasn't paid him for his sugarcane which is why he has many difficulties to overcome, like food, clothing and children's education.
- What problems you currently face without money?
- Two of my children go to school, of which one son has dropped out. He asks for money and I am unable to give him. Me and my other son have illnesses to deal with.
Similarly, all the other farmers have other problems to overcome without being paid.
- You have sowed a lot of seed on your land and this year it hasn't rained too much. How will you meet your financial needs?
- We are clueless as we currently need to borrow at 5 percent or at the rate of 10 percent. We have to borrow money.
- How do you usually manage your expenses?
- We usually borrow money on interest or we have to rent out our land to the big farmers.
- Haven't you taken any action against the payment default by the company?
- We have approached them twice but none of the officers are willing to listen.
- Do they have no answer at all?
- They tell us that we'll get our money once the company makes money.
I am a farmer too and have 2 acres of land under sugarcane. I too have sold my crop and haven't received any money. I wish to see the farmers being paid fairly and that payments get cleared soon. I am going to submit an application regarding this issue, to the sugar mill along with my community.
I appeal to my viewers to please help my cause by calling Sugar Industries Department on 9571007226 and demanding clearance of dues and fair pay for the farmers.

Bangor really hadn't seen anything quite like it, least ways not on their rolling fields, when international pop superstar Rihanna came to town. A local farmer having initially granted permission was apparently forced into a quick rethink as the steamy singer began sizzling a bit too much for his tastes. Apparently a skimpy bikini and stopped traffic had somehow figured into events. There are two types of farmers who produce the vegetables and fruits that you eat in your day to day lives.

Conventional farmers are the farmers who believe in the opposite to William Shakespeare’s famous quotation “All that glitters is not gold”. They believe in “All that glitters is actually gold’’, because the shiny products they produce in their fields using chemical based fertilizers, chemically washed seeds, chemically injected fruits and vegetables that ages not very often and etc. and etc; sure does bring them a lot of gold. Without the thought crossing their mind that, will the consumers be healthy eating all these chemically made products we made?
The answer is: No, of course not. While these products are made sure to be healthy with various scientific researches and experiments; trust me, those chemicals may not have a lot of presence in the products but, those are still there.And chemicals are not good for a human health.
And now let’s go to the Organic Farmers. They are really simple minded good willed people with the heart of gold. Maybe I have flattered them a bit too much here.

Anyway, Organic farmers are the followers of ancient farming methods where not even the “C” of the word “Chemicals”, exists and when it comes to producing, they always have the consumers’ health issue put in first in their “Must Do’’ list. Sounds pretty safe for the health conscious people already doesn’t it? Yes it is.
Safe.
Organic products are produced by using completely natural seeds, soil fertilized by farmer’s everyday hard work on the field, weeds taken care of by their trusty animals or fire, as you can see so far, completely natural. And just think about it, a product which was produced by taking A to Z natural measures, what could it result?
Yes, it results a completely natural product and because natural things are known as safe and healthy, Organic got the title of being Healthy.

In the United States, there are the farmers from Wyoming who have commissioned the weather makers to help nature a bit. Not too much, but too little precipitation here is the problem.
The technically effective influence of humans on the weather is limited - and unfortunately applies also here: there is no effect without side effects.

A local farmer having initially granted permission was apparently forced into a quick rethink as the steamy singer began sizzling a bit too much for his tastes. Apparently a skimpy bikini and stopped traffic had somehow figured into events. Again Banger hadn't really seen anything like it and they weren't likely to ever again!
