Stanley (Robert De Niro) walks Iris (Jane Fonda) home after he fails to catch the man who stole her purse.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this socially conscious drama with romantic overtones, Iris (Jane Fonda) is a working mother with a job at a large commercial bakery who is still getting over the death of her husband, though her circumstances don't give her much time to grieve. She's sharing her house with her two children, Kelly (Martha Plimpton) and Richard (Harley Cross); her unemployed sister, Sharon (Swoosie Kurtz); and her thuggish brother-in-law. The tensions at home become even greater when the teenaged Kelly announces that she's pregnant. One of the few bright spots in Iris' life is her blossoming friendship with Stanley (Robert De Niro), a nice guy who works in the bakery's cafeteria. However, Iris starts noticing a few odd things about Stanley and it slowly dawns on her that he can't read. When the boss figures this out, Stanley loses his job -- an especially troubling development, as Stanley has just had to put his father in a retirement home. Homeless and out of work, Stanley turns to Iris with a special request -- he'd like her to teach him how to read.

Writer-director Richard Stanley was only 23-years-old when he made the 1990 Sci Fi horror gem Hardware, which was inspired in part by a short film he made while a young student in South Africa, He had trouble getting many of the scripts he had written made, but utilized the notes that he had gathered throughout the years and threw them all into the Hardware screenplay (such notes being the necessity for a shower scene, a chainsaw, a fire stunt and a cliffhanger, to name a few). His original vision didn't involve a killer robot, but it was one of the only ways he'd be able to get the film made. Stanley is a 1984 Australian comedy film.
Production
Andrew Gaty had developed the original script. He had a man working for him called Steve Kibbler, who had worked with Esben Storm. Gaty asked Storm what he thought of the script and Storm did not like it. Gaty then hired him to rewrite and direct the movie, with Stanley Mann acting as script editor. Storm:
The producers originally wanted to import Tom Conti to play the lead but Actors Equity objected. Peter Bensley was cast instead.
Release
The film was not successful at the box office.

Stanley (constituency)
Stanley is a constituency of the Legislative Assembly of the Falkland Islands which has been in existence since the first elections in the Falklands in 1949. The constituency of Stanley consists of the city of the same name, which is the largest settlement in the Falklands representing almost 75% of the total population of the islands (excluding military personnel). Stanley is one of two constituencies in the Falklands, the other being Camp.
The first elections to the Legislative Council (the predecessor of the Legislative Assembly) took place in 1949 and elected two members from Stanley. The number of members was reduced to one at the 1977 election with the implementation of the Falkland Islands (Legislative Council) (Amendment) Order 1977. In 1985 the Falkland Islands Constitution came into force which increased the number of members from Stanley to four, elected through block voting. This was increased to five in 1997 following a constitutional amendment, giving the members from Stanley a majority of the elected seats. In 2009 a new constitution came into force which replaced the Legislative Council with the Legislative Assembly, with all members of the Legislative Council becoming members of the new Legislative Assembly.

Stanley is a 1999 award-winning stop motion animated short film written, directed and animated by Suzie Templeton. It was made at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College, now the University for the Creative Arts in England.
Synopsis
While his frustrated wife wreaks violence and death in the kitchen, Stanley finds love in a giant cabbage he is growing in his back yard.

Stanley (Robert De Niro) walks Iris (Jane Fonda) home after he fails to catch the man who stole her purse.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this socially conscious drama with romantic overtones, Iris (Jane Fonda) is a working mother with a job at a large commercial bakery who is still getting over the death of her husband, though her circumstances don't give her much time to grieve. She's sharing her house with her two children, Kelly (Martha Plimpton) and Richard (Harley Cross); her unemployed sister, Sharon (Swoosie Kurtz); and her thuggish brother-in-law. The tensions at home become even greater when the teenaged Kelly announces that she's pregnant. One of the few bright spots in Iris' life is her blossoming friendship with Stanley (Robert De Niro), a nice guy who works in the bakery's cafeteria. However, Iris starts noticing a few odd things about Stanley and it slowly dawns on her that he can't read. When the boss figures this out, Stanley loses his job -- an especially troubling development, as Stanley has just had to put his father in a retirement home. Homeless and out of work, Stanley turns to Iris with a special request -- he'd like her to teach him how to read.

Writer-director Richard Stanley was only 23-years-old when he made the 1990 Sci Fi horror gem Hardware, which was inspired in part by a short film he made while a young student in South Africa, He had trouble getting many of the scripts he had written made, but utilized the notes that he had gathered throughout the years and threw them all into the Hardware screenplay (such notes being the necessity for a shower scene, a chainsaw, a fire stunt and a cliffhanger, to name a few). His original vision didn't involve a killer robot, but it was one of the only ways he'd be able to get the film made. Get more juice about the making of the film and why we love it by tapping our video! Sing it with me now: "This is what you want, this is what you get."

The film will be presented by Ms Marcela Villarreal, Director, Office for Communication, Partnerships and Advocacy (OCP). After the documentary, there will be a short Q&A; session. The premiere is part of the CSO Dialogues, a series of informal conversations with civil society representatives on key issues of concern to FAO.

Writer-director Richard Stanley was only 23-years-old when he made the 1990 Sci Fi horror gem Hardware, which was inspired in part by a short film he made while a young student in South Africa, He had trouble getting many of the scripts he had written made, but utilized the notes that he had gathered throughout the years and threw them all into the Hardware screenplay (such notes being the necessity for a shower scene, a chainsaw, a fire stunt and a cliffhanger, to name a few). His original vision didn't involve a killer robot, but it was one of the only ways he'd be able to get the film made. Writer-director Richard Stanley was only 23-years-old when he made the 1990 Sci Fi horror gem Hardware, which was inspired in part by a short film he made while a young student in South Africa, He had trouble getting many of the scripts he had written made, but utilized the notes that he had gathered throughout the years and threw them all into the Hardware screenplay (such notes being the necessity for a shower scene, a chainsaw, a fire stunt and a cliffhanger, to name a few). His original vision didn't involve a killer robot, but it was one of the only ways he'd be able to get the film made. Writer-director Richard Stanley was only 23-years-old when he made the 1990 Sci Fi horror gem Hardware, which was inspired in part by a short film he made while a young student in South Africa, He had trouble getting many of the scripts he had written made, but utilized the notes that he had gathered throughout the years and threw them all into the Hardware screenplay (such notes being the necessity for a shower scene, a chainsaw, a fire stunt and a cliffhanger, to name a few). His original vision didn't involve a killer robot, but it was one of the only ways he'd be able to get the film made. Stanley (Robert De Niro) walks Iris (Jane Fonda) home after he fails to catch the man who stole her purse.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this socially conscious drama with romantic overtones, Iris (Jane Fonda) is a working mother with a job at a large commercial bakery who is still getting over the death of her husband, though her circumstances don't give her much time to grieve. She's sharing her house with her two children, Kelly (Martha Plimpton) and Richard (Harley Cross); her unemployed sister, Sharon (Swoosie Kurtz); and her thuggish brother-in-law. The tensions at home become even greater when the teenaged Kelly announces that she's pregnant. One of the few bright spots in Iris' life is her blossoming friendship with Stanley (Robert De Niro), a nice guy who works in the bakery's cafeteria. However, Iris starts noticing a few odd things about Stanley and it slowly dawns on her that he can't read. When the boss figures this out, Stanley loses his job -- an especially troubling development, as Stanley has just had to put his father in a retirement home. Homeless and out of work, Stanley turns to Iris with a special request -- he'd like her to teach him how to read.

Stanley (1984 film)
Stanley is a 1984 Australian comedy film.
Production
Andrew Gaty had developed the original script. He had a man working for him called Steve Kibbler, who had worked with Esben Storm. Gaty asked Storm what he thought of the script and Storm did not like it. Gaty then hired him to rewrite and direct the movie, with Stanley Mann acting as script editor. Storm:
The producers originally wanted to import Tom Conti to play the lead but Actors Equity objected. Peter Bensley was cast instead.

The film was not successful at the box office.

Il s'agit du dernier film du cinéaste, qui mourut avant que le film ne soit terminé. Le scénario est basé sur la nouvelle Traumnovelle d’Arthur Schnitzler publiée en 1926.
Drame érotique et mystérieux, l'histoire narre la nuit d'errance du Dr Bill Harford dans et autour de New York. Voulant d'abord tromper sa femme — elle-même tentée par l'adultère —, il assiste à une orgie sexuelle, dont il est chassé. Il découvre alors l'existence d'une société secrète liée aux évènements et aux personnages qu'il a rencontrés. Dépassé, il retourne auprès de son épouse, sans que leur problème ne soit résolu.

Writer-director Richard Stanley was only 23-years-old when he made the 1990 Sci Fi horror gem Hardware, which was inspired in part by a short film he made while a young student in South Africa, He had trouble getting many of the scripts he had written made, but utilized the notes that he had gathered throughout the years and threw them all into the Hardware screenplay (such notes being the necessity for a shower scene, a chainsaw, a fire stunt and a cliffhanger, to name a few). His original vision didn't involve a killer robot, but it was one of the only ways he'd be able to get the film made.
