Glauber

Glauber is a scientific discovery method written in the context of computational philosophy of science. It is related to machine learning in artificial intelligence.

Glauber was written, among other programs, by Pat Langley, Herbert A. Simon, G. Bradshaw and J. Zytkow to demonstrate how scientific discovery may be obtained by problem solving methods, in their book Scientific Discovery, Computational Explorations on the Creative Mind.

Their programs simulate historical scientific discoveries based on the empirical evidence known at the time of discovery.

Glauber was named after Johann Rudolph Glauber, a 17th-century alchemist whose work helped to develop acid-base theory. Glauber (the method) rediscovers the law of acid-alkali reactions producing salts, given the qualities of substances and observed facts, the result of mixing substances. From that knowledge Glauber discovers that substances that taste bitter react with substances tasting sour, producing substances tasting salty.

Jair Bolsonaro

Jair Messias Bolsonaro (born March 21, 1955 in Campinas) is a Brazilian politician. He has been elected into the Chamber of Deputies by the Progressive Party, and has been the congressman who gained the most votes in the general elections of Rio de Janeiro in 2014. A controversial figure in Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro has been known for advocating in favor of extreme right-wing political views.

Political Career

In 1988, Bolsonaro has entered a public political career by being elect as city councilor in the capital city of Rio de Janeiro by the Christian Democratic Party. In the elections of 1990, he has been elected federal congressman of the same party. He has had other four consecutive terms. He has been affiliated with several other Brazilian political parties.

Along with his political career, Bolsonaro has aligned himself to nationalist, conservative, anti-left, anti-communist political views and stances. Bolsonaro openly defends the past militarist regime that had been installed in Brazil in 1964 and its subsequent dictatorship.

Glauber Rocha

Glauber de Andrade Rocha (14 March 1939 – 22 August 1981) was a Brazilian film director, actor and writer. He was a key figure in the Cinema Novo movement, and directed two of the most influential Brazilian films, Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol (Black God, White Devil) (1964) and Terra em Transe (Entranced Earth) (1967). Both are considered to be some of the greatest films in Brazilian film history. He won the Prix de la mise en scène at the 1969 Cannes Film Festival for Antonio das Mortes.

Biography

Rocha was born in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil and moved with his family to Salvador when he was only 9 years old, there studying in a famous and respected Presbyterian school.

During his adolescence, he developed great interest in arts, especially theatre and cinema, and even joined a drama group. He was also very active in politics, a trait that would be strongly influential in his works. A member of the Brazilian radical left, he helped start a political party in the late 1950s that called for an anti-capitalist people's revolution and, among other things, advocated the abolition of money.
