Nel dicembre 2009 la rivista Variety ha riportato che i produttori Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan e Michael Radcliffe avrebbero prodotto un adattamento cinematografico de L'aiuto, con la loro società di produzione 1492 Pictures. La regia e la sceneggiatura del film sono state affidate a Tate Taylor, amico d'infanzia dell'autrice del romanzo, che ha opzionato i diritti cinematografici del libro prima della sua uscita.

This comedy-drama film adaptation of the popular Kathrn Stockett novel was a surprise hit this fall earning nearly eight times its 25-million-dollar budget. Already an early shoe-in for an Oscar nomination, "The Help" stars the very busy Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sissy Spacek, Allison Janey, Mary Steenburgen, and Viola Davis in a terrific leading role that'll surely net her the Best Actress trophy come February. Set in the rural neighborhoods of Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960s, the plot follows Stone as an aspiring writer who controversially crosses racial lines by approaching local black housekeepers to write a book about their experience working in the homes of white families. The all-star cast do a terrific job of bringing the uncomfortable race-relations of the civil rights era back to life - with everything from their accents and behavior to the costumes and language. Spencer and Davis play two lowly maids who begrudgingly put up with the constant racism from their employers for mere dollars a day. Their frustration, and the desolation of being locked down upon is conveyed beautifully through every one of their scenes - immediately making the audience connect with their plight, and root against their misguided white bosses. Davis especially carries the weight of the world in her eyes, and her performance as the tired and neglected housekeeper is easily the finest aspect of this motion picture, truly bringing it above and beyond similar period-films. As for Stone, her southern accent is believable, and she's certainly matured as a young actress in just the few short years she's been active - but compared to her co-stars, little demand is put on her performance. The cinematography is slow and precise, deliberately letting the actors fill each shot with necessary emotion, but never close enough that you'd miss out on the wonderful sets and locations that genuinely feel like the south in the 60s. The writing is funny, realistic, and meaningful - carrying plenty of messages of hope and perseverance that'll surely encourage even the most intolerant of viewers to open their eyes a bit. The notable exception here is the portrayal of nearly every white character in the film - who, save for Stone, are all painted with a very broad "racist" brush - few of them showcasing any moral reservations about how they're treating the nice women taking care of their home and children. Although slightly scattered as a whole, it's the individual vignettes, beautifully executed, each with their own 3-point arc and satirizing conclusion, that'll give the film its great moments of laughter, anger, hope, and empathy. A smart film that has an important story to share, but one that never gets too preachy, "The Help" is a refreshing feel-good film that combines impressive technical achievements with an admittedly entertaining film. The Help
The Help is a 2009 novel by American author Kathryn Stockett. The story is about African-American maids working in white households in Jackson, Mississippi, during the early 1960s.
A USA Today article called it one of the "summer sleeper hits". An early review in The New York Times notes Stockett's "affection and intimacy buried beneath even the most seemingly impersonal household connections" and says the book is a "button-pushing, soon to be wildly popular novel". The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said of the book: "This heartbreaking story is a stunning début from a gifted talent."
The novel is Stockett's first. It took her five years to complete and was rejected by 60 literary agents before agent Susan Ramer agreed to represent Stockett.The Help has since been published in 35 countries and three languages. As of August 2011, it has sold five million copies and has spent more than 100 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list.
The Help's audiobook version is narrated by Jenna Lamia, Bahni Turpin, Octavia Spencer, and Cassandra Campbell. Spencer was Stockett's original inspiration for the character of Minny, and also plays her in the film adaptation.

Emma Stone
Emily Jean "Emma" Stone (born November 6, 1988) is an American actress. She convinced her parents to let her move to Hollywood at the age of fifteen and she made her screen debut in the VHI reality show In Search of the New Partridge Family. (2004), followed by appearances on television series such as Medium, Malcolm in the Middle, and Drive. She made her feature film debut in the comedy Superbad (2007) and had supporting roles in The House Bunny (2008) and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009). She received further mainstream attention for her role in the comedy Zombieland (2009). She garnered recognition for her leading debut role in the comedy Easy A (2010), for which she received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Musical or Comedy.
Following her breakthrough, Stone starred in the romantic comedy-drama Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) and the drama The Help (2011). She had a commercially successful role as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man film series, and voiced the main character in the animated comedy The Croods (2013). In 2014 and 2015, she co-starred in two Woody Allen films: the romantic comedy Magic in the Moonlight and the mystery drama Irrational Man, respectively. She received critical acclaim for her supporting performance in the comedy-drama Birdman (2014), for which she was nominated for the SAG, BAFTA, Golden Globe, Critics' Choice, and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In November 2014, she made her Broadway debut as a replacement in the role of Sally Bowles in the musical Cabaret, which she performed until February 2015.

This comedy-drama film adaptation of the popular Kathrn Stockett novel was a surprise hit this fall earning nearly eight times its 25-million-dollar budget. Already an early shoe-in for an Oscar nomination, "The Help" stars the very busy Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sissy Spacek, Allison Janey, Mary Steenburgen, and Viola Davis in a terrific leading role that'll surely net her the Best Actress trophy come February. Set in the rural neighborhoods of Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960s, the plot follows Stone as an aspiring writer who controversially crosses racial lines by approaching local black housekeepers to write a book about their experience working in the homes of white families. The all-star cast do a terrific job of bringing the uncomfortable race-relations of the civil rights era back to life - with everything from their accents and behavior to the costumes and language. Spencer and Davis play two lowly maids who begrudgingly put up with the constant racism from their employers for mere dollars a day. Their frustration, and the desolation of being locked down upon is conveyed beautifully through every one of their scenes - immediately making the audience connect with their plight, and root against their misguided white bosses. Davis especially carries the weight of the world in her eyes, and her performance as the tired and neglected housekeeper is easily the finest aspect of this motion picture, truly bringing it above and beyond similar period-films. As for Stone, her southern accent is believable, and she's certainly matured as a young actress in just the few short years she's been active - but compared to her co-stars, little demand is put on her performance. The cinematography is slow and precise, deliberately letting the actors fill each shot with necessary emotion, but never close enough that you'd miss out on the wonderful sets and locations that genuinely feel like the south in the 60s. The writing is funny, realistic, and meaningful - carrying plenty of messages of hope and perseverance that'll surely encourage even the most intolerant of viewers to open their eyes a bit. The notable exception here is the portrayal of nearly every white character in the film - who, save for Stone, are all painted with a very broad "racist" brush - few of them showcasing any moral reservations about how they're treating the nice women taking care of their home and children. Although slightly scattered as a whole, it's the individual vignettes, beautifully executed, each with their own 3-point arc and satirizing conclusion, that'll give the film its great moments of laughter, anger, hope, and empathy. A smart film that has an important story to share, but one that never gets too preachy, "The Help" is a refreshing feel-good film that combines impressive technical achievements with an admittedly entertaining film. "The Help", "Affectingly moving, and immensely gratifying."

The Movies TM was also one of my favorite games when I was in high school and it gave me a unique opportunity to see a small but astonishing glimpse of the life of a Hollywood movie-maker. So the other source of motivation for publishing this movie online was that I wanted to make a movie that would remind maybe a few people of this great game that never got a real sequel.
This movie would have never been made if it weren't for the help of my girlfriend and my friends who did the voice acting for a big part of the movie characters. Ivana, Sanja, Markiša (he also made the music for this picture, bravo Markiša!), Ante, Olja, Marijana, thank you! I would also like to thank James Rolfe and Doug Walker for their inspiring websites: "cinemassacre.com" and "thatguywiththeglasses.com", you guys are great.
