With Spring in the air, Barbie is donning her best hat and planning seasonal tea parties, past and present. While Barbie has enjoyed tea time more than once, these two dolls bear striking similarities even though they are from different eras and came out in different years.
In 1999, Barbie appeared in the Barbie Doll Tea Time gift set with her friends, lil bear and cozy bunny. Barbie wears a modern pink floral dress trimmed with a pink ribbon belt with a blue fabric rose at the waist. She also wears a broad-brimmed white hat trimmed with a pink ribbon and a pink fabric rose. Her tea set comes on a scalloped tray with extra pieces on the table for her friends.
Made in 2002, the Avon exclusive is called Victorian Tea. This Barbie wears a period full-length white gown with pink trim also trimmed with fabric roses in pink as is her large straw hat, This doll's tea set is from the same mold with the same scalloped edge but painted a different color.
Both dolls are gorgeous in their spring gowns and with their dainty tea sets making them perfect for display or play in the spring.
