British Airways is one of the UK's most visible brands, selling Britishness as a mark of quality. But in the last decade, the business has faced financial crisis and today, more people fly Easyjet than BA. As the airline reaches a turning point, the BBC's cameras have been allowed unique access to its inner world, from top level decisions to the daily challenges of a global operation.

Quantas Airlines has a set up similar to that and puts it on steroids. If you’ve ever wanted to have the feeling like you’re on your very own jet, Quantas is the way to go with your own privacy pod that comes with its own suite, as well as a common area for wealthy passengers to get together and mingle. This can be all yours for $13,500.
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be tucked into bed by a flight attendant? Well, Singapore Airlines does just that. You’re immediately given pajamas that are designed by Givenchy, and toiletries by Ferragamo. Your seat can also be transformed into a fluffy bed, where the flight attendants will see to it that you’re tucked in and comfy. Tickets for this experience starts at $15,000.
For $25,000, you can have the ultimate first class experience with Cathay Pacific Airlines, where you can have your own pod. This includes a chair that silently transforms into a full length bed. The pod is also adorned with a vase with orchids, so you feel a bit more at home and close to nature. Lufthansa has taken the first class game and improved it. Not only do you get a big comfy chair, but you get a bed as well. The chair is pumped with gadgets as well for your enjoyment. You don’t even have to worry about breathing dry air, as the cabin is pumped with a humidifier. Tickets for this experience starts at $27,000.
Finally, these last two airlines are basically like flying hotel rooms. Emirates Airlines offers a private cabin with a mini bar, adjustable lighting, as well as a full shower with a marble sink. So if you really need to freshen up, it’s a lot better than the tiny bathroom in coach. They even have a communal lounge where you can enjoy drinks and hors d’ouerves. All of this can be yours for $30,000. Finally, we have Etihad Airways, who have diamond first class suites with three room cabins. These cabins also include a full size bathroom with a luxurious shower. You can even have your own butler! What’s the cost? $43,000.

An airline is a company that provides air transport services for traveling passengers and freight. Airlines lease or own their aircraft with which to supply these services and may form partnerships or alliances with other airlines for mutual benefit. Generally, airline companies are recognized with an air operating certificate or license issued by a governmental aviation body.
Airlines vary from those with a single aircraft carrying mail or cargo, through full-service international airlines operating hundreds of aircraft. Airline services can be categorized as being intercontinental, intra-continental, domestic, regional, or international, and may be operated as scheduled services or charters.
American aviation pioneers, such as Rufus Porter and Frederick Marriott, attempted to start airlines using airships in the mid-19th century, focusing on the New York–California route. Those attempts floundered due to such mishaps as the airships catching fire and the aircraft being ripped apart by spectators. DELAG, Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft was the world's first airline. It was founded on November 16, 1909 with government assistance, and operated airships manufactured by The Zeppelin Corporation. Its headquarters were in Frankfurt. The four oldest non-dirigible airlines that still exist are Netherlands' KLM, Colombia's Avianca, Australia's Qantas, and the Czech Republic's Czech Airlines. KLM first flew in May 1920, while Qantas (which stands for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited) was founded in Queensland, Australia, in late 1920.

Well, let’s just say you’ll probably have to save your salary for the next several years to be able to afford it.
For $13,000 you can be a premiere passenger on an Air France flight, which includes a space where you can store all of your valuables, along with a bed, a reading lamp, and curtains so you can have some privacy. Quantas Airlines has a set up similar to that and puts it on steroids. If you’ve ever wanted to have the feeling like you’re on your very own jet, Quantas is the way to go with your own privacy pod that comes with its own suite, as well as a common area for wealthy passengers to get together and mingle. This can be all yours for $13,500.
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be tucked into bed by a flight attendant? Well, Singapore Airlines does just that. You’re immediately given pajamas that are designed by Givenchy, and toiletries by Ferragamo. Your seat can also be transformed into a fluffy bed, where the flight attendants will see to it that you’re tucked in and comfy. Tickets for this experience starts at $15,000.
For $25,000, you can have the ultimate first class experience with Cathay Pacific Airlines, where you can have your own pod. This includes a chair that silently transforms into a full length bed. The pod is also adorned with a vase with orchids, so you feel a bit more at home and close to nature. Lufthansa has taken the first class game and improved it. Not only do you get a big comfy chair, but you get a bed as well. The chair is pumped with gadgets as well for your enjoyment. You don’t even have to worry about breathing dry air, as the cabin is pumped with a humidifier. Tickets for this experience starts at $27,000.
Finally, these last two airlines are basically like flying hotel rooms. Emirates Airlines offers a private cabin with a mini bar, adjustable lighting, as well as a full shower with a marble sink. Cenk Uygur from The Young Turks had a ticket for a flight from Los Angeles LAX to Chicago ORD (flight 219) on April 9th 2016. The flight was cancelled/delayed for over 3 hours. After passengers raged, the supervisors were able to get a flight, but what happens afterwards is unprofessional. Cenk was kicked off of the flight because the pilot feared him. The two supervisors should be looked into. Were they following protocol or just being vindictive. -

This flight was going to Manila from HK on PR A321 with sharklets. We took a taxi to the airport and arrived at Terminal 2. After check-in, we went to take a train back to Terminal one. I went to check out the lounge and didn't have a time to eat. Only drank a orange juice. I went to get a bus to the another Terminal. First time on a bus since Kai Tak. Arrived at North Satellite Concourse and was my 1st time in this terminal. Board the A321 with sharklets and sat on business class seat. The seat had USB socket and no seatback TV. On takeoff it was rainy and after takeoff breaking out the cloudy. The meals were served and delicious. Dessert was also delicious. Too much of a coincidence to happen so shortly after 911? Could it really have been a bomb?
American Airlines Flight 587 was a regularly scheduled passenger flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City to Santo Domingo's Las Américas International Airport in the Dominican Republic. On November 12, 2001, the Airbus A300-600 flying the route crashed into the Belle Harbor neighborhood of Queens, a borough of New York City, shortly after takeoff. All 260 people on board the flight were killed, along with five people on the ground. It is the second-deadliest aviation incident involving an Airbus A300, after Iran Air Flight 655 and the second-deadliest aviation incident to occur on U.S. soil, after American Airlines Flight 191. To date, no single-airplane crash incident that was ruled accidental and not criminal since then has surpassed that death toll, though before 2001 there had been deadlier incidents of this type.
The location of the accident and the fact that it took place two months and one day after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in Manhattan initially spawned fears of another terrorist attack. However, terrorism was officially ruled out as the cause by the National Transportation Safety Board, which instead attributed the disaster to the first officer's overuse of rudder controls in response to wake turbulence or jet wash from a Japan Airlines Boeing 747-400 that took off minutes before it. According to the NTSB, this aggressive use of the rudder controls by the co-pilot caused the vertical stabilizer to snap off the plane. The plane's two engines also separated from the aircraft before it hit the ground.
The A300-600 took off immediately after a Japan Airlines Boeing 747-400 on the same runway. It flew into the larger jet's wake, an area of turbulent air. The first officer attempted to stabilize the aircraft with alternating aggressive rudder inputs. The strength of the air flowing against the moving rudder stressed the aircraft's vertical stabilizer, and eventually snapped it off entirely, causing the aircraft to lose control and crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) concluded that the enormous stress on the rudder was due to the first officer's "unnecessary and excessive" rudder inputs, and not the wake turbulence caused by the 747. The NTSB further stated "if the first officer had stopped making additional inputs, the aircraft would have stabilized". Contributing to these rudder pedal inputs were characteristics of the Airbus A300-600 sensitive rudder system design and elements of the American Airlines Advanced Aircraft Maneuvering Training Program.
The manner in which the vertical stabilizer separated concerned investigators. The vertical stabilizer is connected to the fuselage with six attaching points. Each point has two sets of attachment lugs, one made of composite material, another of aluminum, all connected by a titanium bolt; damage analysis showed that the bolts and aluminum lugs were intact, but not the composite lugs. This, coupled with two events earlier in the life of the aircraft, namely delamination in part of the vertical stabilizer prior to its delivery from Airbus's Toulouse factory, and an encounter with heavy turbulence in 1994, caused investigators to examine the use of composites. The possibility that the composite materials might not be as strong as previously supposed was a cause of concern because they are used in other areas of the plane, including the engine mounting and the wings. Tests carried out on the vertical stabilizers from the accident aircraft, and from another similar aircraft, found that the strength of the composite material had not been compromised, and the NTSB concluded that the material had failed because it had been stressed beyond its design limit, despite ten previous recorded incidents where A300 tail fins had been stressed beyond their design limitation in which none resulted in the separation of the vertical stabilizer in-flight.
The official NTSB report of October 26, 2004, stated that the cause of the crash was the overuse of the rudder to counter wake turbulence.
The crash was witnessed by hundreds of people, 349 of whom gave accounts of what they saw to the NTSB. About half (52%) reported a fire or explosion before the plane hit the ground. Others stated that they saw a wing detach from the aircraft, when in fact it was the vertical stabilizer. Some witnesses reported seeing one of the engines burst into flames and break off the plane, and others reported hearing a loud sound like a sonic boom.
After the crash, Floyd Bennett Field's empty hangars were used as a makeshift morgue for the identification of crash victims.

On April 28, 1988, at 1346, a Boeing 737-200, N73711, operated by Aloha Airlines Inc., as flight 243, experienced an explosive decompression and structural failure at 24,000 feet, while en route from Hilo, to Honolulu, Hawaii. Approximately 18 feet from the cabin skin and structure aft of the cabin entrance door and above the passenger floor line separated from the airplane during flight. There were 89 passengers and 6 crewmembers on board. One flight attendant was swept overboard during the decompression and is presumed to have been fatally injured; 7 passengers and 1 flight attendant received serious injuries. The flight crew performed an emergency descent and landing at Kahului Airport on the Island of Maui.
This video therefore seeks to re-create the thirteen minutes that Aloha Airlines Flight 243 flew without its missing fuselage using footage from various sources as well as that of the National Transportation Safety Board's official report.
I also followed a commentator's suggestion to have the textual information put on a separate screen from that of the regular video to make it easier for viewers to read. I also extended reading times significantly.

Part 13 of my USA trip report series For the ones that have been following this series, know that this trip was thanks to United changing it's rules in the frequent flyer program. After flying Lufthansa's Business class into Charlotte, I needed to get back! Business class choices where very limited! I could choose between better products and the short flight out of the NYC area, or a longer flight but a lousier product. Untill I found this Turkish Airlines combination between Houston and Brussels via Istanbul. And funny enough, taxes where way lower than direct flights or those with stopovers in Germany/Switzerland/etc
Overall rating: 80%
It was great to expecience Turkish Airlines for the first time. Given that I got a brand new 777 (1 week old) made it even better. The seats where very comfortable and the catering was super! The crew was a bit indifferent but mostly good. Istanbul airport however was a huge mess. Houston was better! But I really hope United relooks their club in Houston... or if not Turkish considers another lounge here.

Welcome to Part 14 and my final part of my USA 2014 trip! This part concludes the continuation from my Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Brussels! When I booked this flight it was a 320, later it changed to a B737-800 and thereafter the Airbus A321
Overall verdict: 69%
In contrast to my Houston to Istanbul flight this flight was rather Average, to start off with the airport is way to crowded and was not ment to handle this much traffic! Thankfully I had the lounge that I could rest in for a few minutes. We had one of the older Airbus A321s which was clearly showing it's age! Crew and catering where ok, but a far cry from my 777 flight! In overall I'm a bit mixed about Turkish. while my first flight was super my flight to Brussels was average to say at the most. Turkish should really work on delivering a consistant product

Premium Economy Class is a great way to fly - especially on SQ. A very comfortable product coupled with the legendary Singapore Airlines attention to detail and service. I'll show you everything you want to see: including the seat and it's various functions, the food (including 'Book the Cook'), the champagne (yes, SQ offers French bubbles to customers in Premium Economy Class) and many other features that make this a very pleasant journey. Perhaps the best feature is the generous legroom and the 2-4-2 configuration - especially if you are in a pair on either side and you know the person next to you. If you are thinking about investing in Premium Economy, particularly on a long haul flight onto Europe or to the USA, then I hope this video may help you decide if you think it is worth the extra $. I should also mention that in addition to everything you see in this video, Premium Economy customers on Singapore Airlines also have access to dedicated priority check-in counters as well as priority baggage handling, both of which are usually reserved for status customers and/or customers in Business/First. Overall, I find SQ's Premium Economy offering to be very impressive - it certainly feels like more of a watered down business class rather than an upgraded economy class or economy plus. I should also mention that in addition to everything you see in this video, Premium Economy customers on Singapore Airlines also have access to dedicated priority check-in counters as well as priority baggage handling, both of which are usually reserved for status customers and/or customers in Business/First. Overall, I find SQ's Premium Economy offering to be very impressive - it certainly feels like more of a watered down business class rather than an upgraded economy class or economy plus. This flight was going to Manila from HK on PR A321 with sharklets. We took a taxi to the airport and arrived at Terminal 2. After check-in, we went to take a train back to Terminal one. I went to check out the lounge and didn't have a time to eat. Only drank a orange juice. I went to get a bus to the another Terminal. First time on a bus since Kai Tak. Arrived at North Satellite Concourse and was my 1st time in this terminal. Board the A321 with sharklets and sat on business class seat. The seat had USB socket and no seatback TV. On takeoff it was rainy and after takeoff breaking out the cloudy. The meals were served and delicious. Dessert was also delicious. After 1 hour and 40 minutes route, the plane begun to land in MNL and was smooth touchdown. Taxi to the gate and disembarked the plane then go thought to passport control. After cleared the immigration, we took a van to the manila area. It had been 11 years in the Philippines since last visit was 2004. I hadn't flown the Philippines Airlines for 21 years since last flown was from Caticlan to Manila on B737-300 in 1994. I had a pleasure flight on PR and good foods and services.
