That's a presentation my friend and I did over 2 years ago to his sister on a school project. Since there's absolutely none information about the ship Baychimo here on YouTube, I reminded I had this somewhere in a computer. Quite interesting, because the vessel's fate still is a real mystery.

The Baychimo, a 1,322 ton steam ship owned by the Hudson Bay Trading Company, regularly traveled to Alaska and British Columbia transporting goods and passengers, and fur trading with the Inuit who lived along the Beaufort Sea.
On October 1, 1931, Baychimo was making a return trip to Vancouver. She’d completed a run to Victoria Island, and her hold was stuffed with furs. Unfortunately for captain John Cornwell and the crew, winter arrived sooner than expected with freezing temperatures, strong winds, and the threat of blizzards. Baychimo became stuck fast in the pack-ice, and the crew were helpless to do anything except wait.Luck seemed to be on the captain’s side since two days later, the ice shifted and Baychimo broke free, but Dame Fortune was fickle. The ship continued to be trapped, then released by the thickening ice.
By October 15, the Hudson Bay Company sent airplanes to rescue twenty-two of the crew, but the captain and fourteen other crew members stayed behind, building a shelter on the ice.
Imagine their surprise when they awoke on November 25, the morning after a terrible blizzard, to find Baychimo gone.
A local hunter eventually spotted the steamer drifting and alerted the remaining crew of its location.
After salvaging what they could, they set the ship adrift, fearing it wouldn’t last the winter in the thick pack ice.A few days later, a seal hunter told Cornwell he’d spotted the ship adrift about forty-four miles (71 km) southwest. As time passed, the company continued to receive reports from eyewitnesses who had seen the drifting ghost ship. By 1939, scores of sightings were reported. she was repeatedly sighted all across the Arctic, drifting aimlessly at sea.
However, no one was able to catch up to Baychimo, which continued to uncannily elude pursuit. The last sighting occurred in 1969, 37 years after she was left abandoned.
Despite recent searches, the ship’s ultimate fate remains unknown.

The Baychimo was a steel 1,322 ton cargo steamer built in 1914 in Sweden and owned by the Hudson's Bay Company, used to trade provisions for pelts in Inuit settlements along the Victoria Island coast of the Northwest Territories of Canada. She became a notable ghost ship along the Alaska coast, being abandoned in 1931 and seen numerous times since then until her last sighting in 1969.
The Baychimo was launched in 1914 as the Ångermanelfven under yard No 420 by Lindholmens Shipyard (Lindholmens Mekaniske Verkstad) A/B Gothenburg, Sweden for the Baltische Reederei K.G. of Hamburg. She was 230 ft (70.1 m) long, powered by a triple expansion steam engine and had a speed of 10 kn (19 km/h; 12 mph). The Ångermanelfven was used on trading routes between Hamburg and Sweden until the First World War. After World War I she was passed to Great Britain as part of the reparations by Germany for shipping losses and acquired by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1921. Renamed Baychimo and based in Ardrossan, Scotland, she completed nine successful voyages along the north coast of Canada, visiting trading posts and collecting pelts.

The Baychimo, a 1,322 ton steam ship owned by the Hudson Bay Trading Company, regularly traveled to Alaska and British Columbia transporting goods and passengers, and fur trading with the Inuit who lived along the Beaufort Sea.
On October 1, 1931, Baychimo was making a return trip to Vancouver. She’d completed a run to Victoria Island, and her hold was stuffed with furs. Unfortunately for captain John Cornwell and the crew, winter arrived sooner than expected with freezing temperatures, strong winds, and the threat of blizzards. Baychimo became stuck fast in the pack-ice, and the crew were helpless to do anything except wait.Luck seemed to be on the captain’s side since two days later, the ice shifted and Baychimo broke free, but Dame Fortune was fickle. The ship continued to be trapped, then released by the thickening ice.
By October 15, the Hudson Bay Company sent airplanes to rescue twenty-two of the crew, but the captain and fourteen other crew members stayed behind, building a shelter on the ice.
Imagine their surprise when they awoke on November 25, the morning after a terrible blizzard, to find Baychimo gone.
A local hunter eventually spotted the steamer drifting and alerted the remaining crew of its location.
After salvaging what they could, they set the ship adrift, fearing it wouldn’t last the winter in the thick pack ice.A few days later, a seal hunter told Cornwell he’d spotted the ship adrift about forty-four miles (71 km) southwest. As time passed, the company continued to receive reports from eyewitnesses who had seen the drifting ghost ship. By 1939, scores of sightings were reported. she was repeatedly sighted all across the Arctic, drifting aimlessly at sea.
However, no one was able to catch up to Baychimo, which continued to uncannily elude pursuit. The last sighting occurred in 1969, 37 years after she was left abandoned.
Despite recent searches, the ship’s ultimate fate remains unknown.
