Tina Fey surprised the crowd at the MCC Theater‘s 2016 Miscast Gala by joining Titus Burgess on stage to perform “You’re Nothing Without Me” from the musical City of Angels.

Photographer Julian Cash of Aurora Light Portraits, whose amazing light painting portraits we’ve written about before, is looking to take his creative journey to the next level. He’s doing so by building a traveling X-RAY light painting studio for live public use during the Percona Live MySQL Conference 2016 in Santa Clara, California on April 19th or 20th. The photos will expose “what a person looks like when lit from the inside.” Julian is currently raising funds on Indiegogo to help bring the project to life.

Light Painting Portraits are a rare and incredible art form. I’ve been pioneering and expanding this art form. This campaign will help me to take Light Painting portraits in places where it would otherwise be impossible. Software engineer Deekshith Allamaneni has created EasyWrite, an online text editor that encourages writers to make simpler language choices using a database of 1,000 of the most common words used in the English language. Allamaneni was inspired by Cleartext, an app that only works on Macs.

I always used to find it difficult to write easy to understand product descriptions for the things I create. I recently came across a Mac app ClearText on Product Hunt. It allows you to write only using the top 1000 English words. It was simple and amazing but the problem is it only works on Macs. I cannot recommend it to my friends or my teammates who use a different operating system….I made a web based editor which allows you to write using the most common English words (I used the same word database used in ClearText). It highlights all the uncommon words in your text encouraging you to replace them with a commonly used word. It basically encourages you to write like Trump as compared to “V” in V for Vendetta. For example, use “beautiful” instead of “gorgeous”, “stupid” instead of “imbecile” and so on.

Google search has added animal sound functionality. Users who search “animal sounds” will see a selection of clickable illustrations of different animals that play a recording of that animal. The feature was announced in a post on the Google Austria site.

The Laundry design, animation, and visual effects studio in Los Angeles has released a video and images featuring the incredibly bizarre Simpsons brand IDs that they made this year for the FXX Network. The entire series of IDs are available to view on the Laundry website and their Behance portfilio.

We are completely infatuated with all things Simpsons, especially as seen through the perfectly unique lens of the FXX brand. Stylistically minimal, graphically abstract, with a twist of weird. We jumped at the chance to build upon the launch and push the visual dynamic of these IDs while remaining unmistakably Simpsons.

The Laurel Canyon Animal Company (LCAC) is an incredibly unique record label that records music by animals for animals. Founded by musicians Skip Haynes and Dana Walden, LCAC is the only label in the world that uses the skills of animal psychics and communicators to interpret what the animal is saying, puts those words to music and the professionally records a song.

Located in Los Angeles, California we are animal lovers dedicated to building a bridge between humans and animals through music. We create music exclusively about, for and with animals — dogs in particular.
