Glenyys Romanes, MP for Melbourne Province in The Victorian State Government

Welcome

For seven years (1999-2006) I had the honour of serving the people of Victoria in the Upper House seat of Melbourne Province.

I was proud to have been a member of the Bracks government with its commitment to fairness and to working for all Victorians.  One of the Government’s most important achievements during my time in Parliament was the reform of the Legislative Council.  The new voting system of proportional representation ensures that your vote for your member in the Legislative Council is more democratic.  The second major change was that the old boundaries of 22 provinces each with two members were replaced at this election by eight provinces each with five members. The third change is the introduction of fixed four-year terms.

You can see the kind of activity I undertook in the Parliament as a local member working with the energy and commitment to serve local residents and communities to address key issues facing them in the area I represent.

I have also included some useful links for more information about the Parliament and the Government's plans for Victoria, as well as a round up of  issues, news & events.

This website has been designed to let you know my record as a parliamentarian and the values I still stand for.  Please feel free to contact me with your views and concerns.

Warm Regards, Glenyys Romanes
