Your system might not recognize your new Seagate 1.5TB drive when it boots up. It could be that you have a SATA1 system. The jumper to limit drive speed on these drives is non functional. Here is a link to Seagate's knowledge base on this issue:

2TB Very Fast for HD Video Storage & Editing, Quiet, Reliable, Great Auxiliary to Your Primary SSD.
I am extremely happy with the 2TB drive. I avoided the 3TB drive because there are some reports about special modes used beyond 2TB that aren't as compatible as 2TB. So for me, even though 3TB can be only a little more, I preferred to rest assured with worry free compatibility of 2TB. For a fresh install of Windows, the BIOS (on my Intel DZ68BC motherboard) and Windows 7 64-bit OEM setup disk had no problem detecting, formatting, and using the drive. The drive is very fast being SATA III (6G/s) with a large 64MB cache. Of course it isn't SSD, but for large files like videos, it has been stellar for me. It is quiet enough that I never hear it unless I listen closely, doesn't heat up my case (according to the motherboard that monitors the case and reports via software), doesn't seem to eat up power in how I use it, and very fast. I do a lot of HD video storage, editing, and copying from my HD camcorder and it flies for me.
Now it isn't SSD. It still has moving parts, rotating platters, and is affected by seek times. But it superbly suited for storing and accessing large files like HD video, music, etc, that are contiguous blocks on the disk that it can just start reading fast without seeking. I recommend an SSD (like the Intel 510 Series 120 GB SSD that I love even more than this HDD for operating system files and documents. With SSD, the computer boots fast, opens apps very fast (IE, FireFox, & MS WOrd are nearly instant), and opens documents very fast. But 120 GB is limited. So I use this 2TB HDD as a very fast large file storage for video, pictures, music, and archiving stuff. I think this HDD is a great compliment to my SSD.
The drive is OEM, and it really doesn't come with anything but the drive itself, no cables, no power adapters, no screws, or software. But you really should have everything you need already. Any Sata cable should do (all should be the same). When purchased from and shipped by Amazon, it seems very well protected. I didn't have any worries. I wouldn't worry about the bad Vine review reports about broken drives from shipping which I suspect got shipments from a different facility that didn't know what they were doing with computer parts. I can attest I purchased from Amazon and am happy with the packaging from Amazon.

2TB Very Fast for HD Video Storage & Editing, Quiet, Reliable, Great Auxiliary to Your Primary SSD.
I am extremely happy with the 2TB drive. I avoided the 3TB drive because there are some reports about special modes used beyond 2TB that aren't as compatible as 2TB. So for me, even though 3TB can be only a little more, I preferred to rest assured with worry free compatibility of 2TB. For a fresh install of Windows, the BIOS (on my Intel DZ68BC motherboard) and Windows 7 64-bit OEM setup disk had no problem detecting, formatting, and using the drive. The drive is very fast being SATA III (6G/s) with a large 64MB cache. Of course it isn't SSD, but for large files like videos, it has been stellar for me. It is quiet enough that I never hear it unless I listen closely, doesn't heat up my case (according to the motherboard that monitors the case and reports via software), doesn't seem to eat up power in how I use it, and very fast. I do a lot of HD video storage, editing, and copying from my HD camcorder and it flies for me.
Now it isn't SSD. It still has moving parts, rotating platters, and is affected by seek times. But it superbly suited for storing and accessing large files like HD video, music, etc, that are contiguous blocks on the disk that it can just start reading fast without seeking. I recommend an SSD (like the Intel 510 Series 120 GB SSD that I love even more than this HDD for operating system files and documents. With SSD, the computer boots fast, opens apps very fast (IE, FireFox, & MS WOrd are nearly instant), and opens documents very fast. But 120 GB is limited. So I use this 2TB HDD as a very fast large file storage for video, pictures, music, and archiving stuff. I think this HDD is a great compliment to my SSD.
The drive is OEM, and it really doesn't come with anything but the drive itself, no cables, no power adapters, no screws, or software. But you really should have everything you need already. Any Sata cable should do (all should be the same). When purchased from and shipped by Amazon, it seems very well protected. I didn't have any worries. I wouldn't worry about the bad Vine review reports about broken drives from shipping which I suspect got shipments from a different facility that didn't know what they were doing with computer parts. I can attest I purchased from Amazon and am happy with the packaging from Amazon.

In this video we are performing a procedure that is known as a head transplant. Hard drive that we are restoring was knocked over by the customer which lead to instant head failure. Drive came as a part of older Iomega external drive, and it experienced an impact while it was running. When drive arrived at out main lab in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, we performed series of tests on this clicking hard drive, and came to a conclusion that head assembly would need to be changed. In this video we are performing a procedure that is known as a head transplant. Hard drive that we are restoring was knocked over by the customer which lead to instant head failure. Drive came as a part of older Iomega external drive, and it experienced an impact while it was running. When drive arrived at out main lab in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, we performed series of tests on this clicking hard drive, and came to a conclusion that head assembly would need to be changed. Head swap procedure on the drive that is no longer recognized requires skill, head dismounting tools, and specialized imaging equipment that can change reading commands to adopt to hard drives condition. If you dropped your drive and need to recover data from it please do not hesitate to contact out specialist and request assistance.

Представляю вам обзор одного из представителей линейки жестких дисков всемирно известной фирмы по производству накопителей - Seagate.
Пару слов о технический характеристиках:
Объем - 1TB
Форм-фактор - 3.5"
Интерфейс - SATA 3, 6Гб/сек
Скорость вращения - 7200 об./мин.
Кэш (MB) - 64
Среднее время задержки (мсек) - 4.16
Размеры и вес диска: длина - 146.99мм, ширина - 101.6мм, толщина - 20.17мм, вес – 415г
Количество головок - 2
Количество пластин - 1
Потребление энергии: 5.9 Вт - в рабочем режиме, 3.36 Вт - в режиме Idle, 0.63 Вт - в режимах Standby и Sleep.
Поддержка NCQ - есть.
Рабочая температура 0 ~ 60°C
Ударостойкость - 350 Gs
Поставляется жесткий диск в антистатическом пакете. На верхнюю часть диска нанесена наклейка с некоторой информацией о диске: собственно, логотип компании производителя, серийный номер, модель диска, номер партии, прошивка, product of Thailand.
В завершении подведем итог: диск, вполне удачный, если не считать раннюю проблему с парковкой, которую, повторюсь, уже решили или можно решить новой прошивкой.
Также отмечу, что показатели скорости чтения/записи довольно неплохие и поэтому диск составляет неплохую конкуренцию аналогичным по объему дискам других фирм, а учитывая стоимость можно с уверенностью сказать, что данный продукт фирмы Seagate станет достойным выбором.

Voici une très vieille vidéo qui explique comment réparer un disque dur Seagate 7200.11 qui souffre du "BSY Bug".
En ouvrant le colis de fan de cette semaine, qui arrive très bientôt, j'ai trouvé un disque dur qui est fonctionnel, mais bridé pour être utilisé uniquement dans la Bbox avec laquelle il vient !
Pour me souvenirs des étapes nécessaires pour accéder et utiliser le port série de debug de seagate, je me suis souvenu de l'existence de cette vidéo, en me disant que ça me servirait de pense bête !
Ce que je dois faire avec ce disque dur est totalement différent par contre !
Pour revenir au disque dur de la vidéo, il marche toujours parfaitement aujourd'hui ! et a été un fidèle et fiable composant de mon NAS avant son remplacement par un 2 TO !
(il me sert encore comme stockage USB de secours)

Malheureusement je reçois beaucoup trop de commentaires et messages privés Youtube pour y répondre. (ni même les lire)
Donc je compte sur votre compréhension si je ne peux pas vous répondre.
