Some islands, now known as Indonesia, remained isolated while others became joined to the continent. Java was one of these. The Komodo National Park (komodo island) is located in the east of Indonesia. This national park consist of three large islands (Rinca, Komodo, & Padar) and numerous of small islands. The national park was established to protect the Komodo Dragon, an endemic species from the area and other marines biodiversities. This national park is registered as the New 7 Wonder of Nature. The national park is the favorite destination for ecotourism, the national park have it's own attractiveness under the sea and over the land. Our pilot, Ardian putra explored the Komodo national park for three days, he spent the rest of his trip by pinisi schooner. Which the visitor need to sleep and eat on the ship for the entire three days, which give the visitor unique experience through the trip.
Taman Nasional Komodo terletak di antara provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur dan Nusa Tenggara Barat.
Taman nasional ini terdiri atas tiga pulau besar Pulau Komodo, Pulau Rinca, dan Pulau Padar serta beberapa pulau kecil. Wilayah darat taman nasional ini 603 km² dan wilayah total adalah 1817 km².
Pada tahun 1980 taman nasional ini didirikan untuk melindungi komodo dan habitatnya. Di sana terdapat 277 spesies hewan yang merupakan perpaduan hewan yang berasal dari Asia dan Australia, yang terdiri dari 32 spesies mamalia, 128 spesies burung, dan 37 spesies reptilia. Bersama dengan komodo, setidaknya 25 spesies hewan darat dan burung termasuk hewan yang dilindungi, karena jumlahnya yang terbatas atau terbatasnya penyebaran mereka. (Wikipedia)

Komodo (island)
Komodo is one of the 17,508 islands that compose the Republic of Indonesia. The island is particularly notable as the habitat of the Komodo dragon, the largest lizard on Earth, which is named after the island. Komodo Island has a surface area of 390 square kilometres and a human population of over two thousand. The people of the island are descendants of former convicts who were exiled to the island and who have mixed with Bugis from Sulawesi. The people are primarily adherents of Islam but there are also Christian and Hindu congregations.
Komodo is part of the Lesser Sunda chain of islands and forms part of the Komodo National Park. In addition, the island is a popular destination for diving. Administratively, it is part of the East Nusa Tenggara province.

Komodo dragon
The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), also known as the Komodo monitor, is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar. A member of the monitor lizard family Varanidae, it is the largest living species of lizard, growing to a maximum length of 3 metres (10 ft) in rare cases and weighing up to approximately 70 kilograms (150 lb).
Their unusually large size has been attributed to island gigantism, since no other carnivorous animals fill the niche on the islands where they live. However, recent research suggests the large size of Komodo dragons may be better understood as representative of a relict population of very large varanid lizards that once lived across Indonesia and Australia, most of which, along with other megafauna, died out after the Pleistocene. Fossils very similar to V. komodoensis have been found in Australia dating to greater than 3.8 million years ago, and its body size remained stable on Flores, one of the handful of Indonesian islands where it is currently found, over the last 900,000 years, "a time marked by major faunal turnovers, extinction of the island's megafauna, and the arrival of early hominids by 880 ka [kiloannums]."

Lesser Sunda Islands
The Lesser Sunda Islands or Nusa Tenggara ("Southeastern Islands") are a group of islands in Maritime Southeast Asia, north of Australia. Together with the Greater Sunda Islands to the west they make up the Sunda Islands. The islands are part of a volcanic arc, the Sunda Arc, formed by subduction along the Sunda Trench in the Java Sea.
The main Lesser Sunda Islands are, from west to east: Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores, Sumba, Timor, Alor archipelago, Barat Daya Islands, and Tanimbar Islands.
Administration
The Lesser Sundas comprise many islands, most of which are part of Indonesia and are administered as the provinces of Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and southern part of Maluku.
The eastern half of Timor is part of East Timor.
Geology
The Lesser Sunda Islands consist of two geologically distinct archipelagos. The northern archipelago, which includes Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores and Wetar, is volcanic in origin, a number of these, like Mount Rinjani on Lombok, are still active while others, such as Kelimutu on Flores with its three multi-coloured crater lakes, are extinct. The northern archipelago began to be formed during the Pliocene, about 15 million years ago, as a result of the collision between the Australian and the Asian plates. The islands of the southern archipelago, including Sumba, Timor and Babar, are non-volcanic and appear to belong to the Australian plate. The geology and ecology of the northern archipelago share a similar history, characteristics and processes with the southern Maluku Islands, which continue the same island arc to the east.

The national park is the favorite destination for ecotourism, the national park have it's own attractiveness under the sea and over the land. Our pilot, Ardian putra explored the Komodo national park for three days, he spent the rest of his trip by pinisi schooner. Which the visitor need to sleep and eat on the ship for the entire three days, which give the visitor unique experience through the trip. Taman Nasional Komodo terletak di antara provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur dan Nusa Tenggara Barat. Taman nasional ini terdiri atas tiga pulau besar Pulau Komodo, Pulau Rinca, dan Pulau Padar serta beberapa pulau kecil. Wilayah darat taman nasional ini 603 km² dan wilayah total adalah 1817 km². Pada tahun 1980 taman nasional ini didirikan untuk melindungi komodo dan habitatnya. Some islands, now known as Indonesia, remained isolated while others became joined to the continent. Java was one of these. Once the glaciation was over, the sea returned to its original level, and Java once more became an island, cut off from mainland Asia.

23:03 The fiddler crab is another species that live in the archipelago. It’s name comes from it’s enormous claws, almost equal in size as the rest of its body. This outsized claw serves two basic functions: to mark his territory, and attract the females.

40:17 Today, about 2,500 people live on Komodo and Rinca, two of the four islands on which dragons are still extant.

Just four years after they were discovered, they were already a protected species but, despite this, numbers continue to fall. It was only 31 years later, in 1936, that the government understood that protecting them would be useless if they didn’t also conserve their natural habitat. The Komodo National Park (komodo island) is located in the east of Indonesia. This national park consist of three large islands (Rinca, Komodo, & Padar) and numerous of small islands. The national park was established to protect the Komodo Dragon, an endemic species from the area and other marines biodiversities. This national park is registered as the New 7 Wonder of Nature. The national park is the favorite destination for ecotourism, the national park have it's own attractiveness under the sea and over the land. Our pilot, Ardian putra explored the Komodo national park for three days, he spent the rest of his trip by pinisi schooner. Which the visitor need to sleep and eat on the ship for the entire three days, which give the visitor unique experience through the trip.
Taman Nasional Komodo terletak di antara provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur dan Nusa Tenggara Barat.
Taman nasional ini terdiri atas tiga pulau besar Pulau Komodo, Pulau Rinca, dan Pulau Padar serta beberapa pulau kecil. Wilayah darat taman nasional ini 603 km² dan wilayah total adalah 1817 km².
Pada tahun 1980 taman nasional ini didirikan untuk melindungi komodo dan habitatnya. Di sana terdapat 277 spesies hewan yang merupakan perpaduan hewan yang berasal dari Asia dan Australia, yang terdiri dari 32 spesies mamalia, 128 spesies burung, dan 37 spesies reptilia. Bersama dengan komodo, setidaknya 25 spesies hewan darat dan burung termasuk hewan yang dilindungi, karena jumlahnya yang terbatas atau terbatasnya penyebaran mereka. (Wikipedia)

At night on the Flores Sea, you also have a magnificent view of the stars.

Depending on the time you have available, one or more guided tours on the islands of Rinca and Komodo itself. Please note that it is neither permitted nor advisable to do any tours without local guides, as the Komodo Dragons are dangerous when they attack.
This area is inhabited by more than a thousand different fish species, making it one of the world’s richest marine habitats. You may also swim in the Flores Sea on your incoming or outgoing boat trip to one of the islands. Beware of sharp corals on the sea floor near some of the small islands.
