On arrival we were given a complimentary upgrade from a deluxe room to the room reviewed above a "Panoramic suite" usually costing $3000 a night ! The hotel staff were exceptional as expected and the room just indescribable. The weather when the video was recorded was above 50C ! so we spent much of the time indoors........... which we would of done anyway. Documentaire: Burj al-Arab l’hôtel 7 étoiles de Dubaï un luxe hors du commun (HQ) La construction de l'hôtel a commencé en 1994 au coût de 2 milliards de dollars américains, pour ouvrir enfin ses portes au public le 1er décembre 1999. Le Burj al-Arab ne possède pas de chambres à proprement parler, mais deux-cent-deux suites en duplex. La plus petite suite occupe une superficie de 196 mètres carrés, et la plus grande 780 mètres carrés. Avec 180 mètres de haut, son hall d'entrée possède le plus grand atrium au monde, le volume de l'atrium pouvant contenir le World Trade Center de Dubaï, qui, à 38 étages, était le plus haut édifice à Dubaï de la fin des années 1970 à la fin des années 1990. Il a été construit de telle façon que son ombre ne recouvre pas la plage. Un héliport (qui sert parfois aussi de terrain de tennis), ainsi qu'un restaurant panoramique se trouvent tous les deux au sommet, au-dessus de l'océan, en porte-à-faux sur les bords opposés de l'hôtel. L'hôtel a été construit par la compagnie de construction sud-africaine Murray & Roberts. Le mur extérieur de l'atrium faisant face à la plage est fait de tissus isolants en fibre de verre recouvert d'une couche de teflon pour les protéger de l'usure due aux vents des sables venant du désert. Le Burj al-Arab est considéré comme l'un des hôtels les plus onéreux du monde. Le tarif officiel pour les suites les moins chères varie entre 7 600 et 17 600 dirhams3 la nuit4. L'entrée de l'hôtel est interdite aux visiteurs, mais il est néanmoins possible d'y pénétrer en réservant pour y prendre un thé l'après-midi pour la somme de 70€. Pour ce prix là, outre le thé, il sera servi champagne, et un total de 7 plats (tranche de saumon, mignardises, petits gâteaux, ...) Les dressings des suites royales sont plus spacieux qu'une chambre d'hôtel ordinaires. Ce documentaire retrace donc la construction de cet impressionnant hôtel, avec toutes les difficultés techniques rencontrées et permet de bien se rendre compte du tour de force réalisé dans le golfe Persique.

Thanks to French Fireworks for creating this amazing experience.
