Demi Lovato claimed the June/July cover of
Latina Mag and dishes on everything from her love life, to her music, and even how she stays strong after a tough year.
Demi is a queen known for her confidence. So it’s only fit that she would join the mag for their
20th anniversary.
Starting off her interview strong, Demi tells the magazine she wants to create music that matters. When it comes to radio hits, Demi says she flat out doesn’t care about them because she grew up listening to artists like
Aretha Franklin,
Patti LaBelle, and
Gladys Knight. Demi said, QUOTE: “
It’s songs like ‘
Stone Cold’ that I don’t get tired of singing on tour. I am tired of singing ‘
Give Your Heart a Break’ and even ‘
Confident’ already. I have yet to reach my peak, and also, my voice is better now than it was a year ago. Now I can show people what I can do.”
There was nothing off limits in this interview and Demi wasn’t holding back. Especially when asked about all that
Kesha and
Dr. Luke drama. She replied by saying it was extremely brave of a pop star in the industry to come out and talk about that. She even touched on the fact that she believes women artists shouldn’t compete, but instead they have to support each other.
But then Demi went on to talk about her own personal life, more specifically her relationship with
Wilmer Valderrama. The two have been dating on and off for a few years, but they kept it under wraps until 2014. She said, QUOTE: “He’s very manly, and he can be stubborn like
Latino men can, but he’s protective and he cares so much and loves so hard.
I’ve been blessed enough to have him in my life.” She also went on to mention that she has a great relationship with his mom, she even teaches Demi how to cook!
And Wilmer was with Demi through it all. The good and the bad. Demi went on to talk about how just last year, she mourned the loss of a friend, two uncles, a grandfather, and two dogs. She said, QUOTE: “There’s a lot of pain that I experienced over the past year, and I’m so ready to write about it. I’ve stayed sober through it all, I’m a stronger person, but it’s definitely been a very painful year.”
But thankfully things are looking much brighter for Demi. She’s been getting ready for her 37-city
Future Now tour with
Nick Jonas that kicks off in June.
Not to mention she looked AMAZING during her photoshoot with the mag. Wearing bold dresses, chunky jewelry, and dark makeup, she equals perfection.
Just last night was Demi’s very first Met
Gala and she rocked the red carpet in a long sparkly black, silver, and gold sequined dress.
And I don’t know about you, but I think she’s definitely giving off the impression that she’s ready to conquer anything else that comes her way.
Now it’s YOUR turn! I want to know what you guys think about Demi’s interview and her look from last night’s Met Gala.
