Request (Juju album)

Request is a cover album by Japanese recording artist Juju, released on September 29, 2010. The album features recordings of famous songs by Japanese female vocalists, mostly from the late 1990s.

Conception

The album was originally titled Juju Sings Beautiful Woman. After the album's announcement on August 4, a questionnaire was put up on Juju's website, asking fans which songs they wanted to hear Juju cover. Despite this, four songs had already been chosen for the album, "Gips," "Hello, Again (Mukashi Kara Aru Basho)," "Last Kiss" and "Time Goes By."

The album is Juju's second disc of covers, after the She Sings... second disc of her previous album Juju, which featured primarily covers of Western songs in English.

Promotion

"Last Kiss" was originally released in February 2010, as one of the A-side tracks of the four A-side single "Sakura Ame/Ready for Love/S.H.E./Last Kiss."

A cover of My Little Lover's "Hello, Again (Mukashi Kara Aru Basho)" sung by Juju was announced as a song used in an adverstising campaign for the Sony Alpha digital camera on June 4. The song was released digitally on June 16 as a ringtone and on June 23 as a full-length cellphone download, where it was extremely successful digitally, reaching #1 on the RIAJ Digital Track Chart. Due to this popularity, it was released as a physical single a month later, where it reached #15 on Oricon's physical charts.

Request (The Awakening album)

Request is the second album by South African Gothic rock band The Awakening released during April 1998. Taking a step towards the New Romantic sound, Request brought the band more exposure and club rotation with three singles as well as their first music video for "Rain."

Recording

A calmer, mellower and darker album than its predecessor, Request's singles "Maree", "Rain" and "Before I Leap" saw much success with radio and club rotation. A music video was shot for "Rain" by director Katinka Harrod. In March 1999, the album was re-released on Intervention Arts with the bonus track "The Safety Dance," a cover of the hit by the 1980s synthpop band Men Without Hats.

Relationship to energy in physics

Energy in this context is not, strictly speaking, the same as the conventional notion of energy in physics and the other sciences. The two concepts are, however, closely related, and it is possible to convert from one to the other:

For example, if x(t) represents the potential (in volts) of an electrical signal propagating across a transmission line, then Z would represent the characteristic impedance (in ohms) of the transmission line. The units of measure for the signal energy would appear as volt²·seconds, which is not dimensionally correct for energy in the sense of the physical sciences. After dividing by Z, however, the dimensions of E would become volt²·seconds per ohm, which is equivalent to joules, the SI unit for energy as defined in the physical sciences.

"Energy" is the debut single by American recording artist Keri Hilson. The song was written and produced by The Runaways, consisting of Louis Biancaniello, Sam Watters, Rico Love, and Wayne Wilkins, for her studio album In a Perfect World… (2009).

The track was released as the first single from the singer's debut in the United States on May 27, 2008. Although being released worldwide it initially only charted in New Zealand at number two and only managed to reach top thirty on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Dance Club Play charts.

Generally well received by music critics, it was named sixty-first on The Top 144 Songs of 2008 listing by Blender magazine.

Background

"Energy" was written and produced by The Runaways. It was also recorded by The Runaways at Homesite 13 studios in Novato, California. and Hilson stated that she wanted to prove that she can be successful even without collaborations and guest vocalists and so it was announced "Energy" would be released as the next worldwide single following the success of "Knock You Down". The song was released on September 14, 2009 in the UK. On September 25, 2009 she appeared live on breakfast TV show GMTV in the UK where she performed the single. That same day, she appeared on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge where she performed a stripped version of "Energy" as well as a gospel cover version of "Supernova" originally sung by Mr Hudson and Kanye West.

"Energy" is the second single by Canadian rapper Drake from his fourth commercial release If You're Reading This It's Too Late.

Composition

"Energy" contains samples from Eazy-Duz-It performed by Eazy-E and Ridin Spiners performed by Three 6 Mafia. Energy was produced by Boi-1da and OB O'Brien. According to WhoSampled the song samples the score of an episode of The O.C..

Critical reception

"Energy" received acclaim from music critics with many calling it the best song of the album. Ryan Dombal of Pitchfork gave the song a positive review and named it "Best New Track", stating "The song isn't aimed to any rappers or pop stars, not Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean or Tyga, but the song lines are dangerous."

Budget Rent a Car

Budget Rent a Car System, Inc. is an American car rental company that was founded in 1958 in Los Angeles, California by Morris Mirkin. Budget's operations are headquartered in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey.

With its original fleet of 10 cars, the company lived up to the 'Budget' name by undercutting the daily and per mile rental rates of the established airport based car rental companies. Mirkin was joined in 1959 by Julius Lederer (husband of columnist Ann Landers) who built the company, and made it an international company. In 1960, the headquarters moved to Chicago, Illinois and the rental fleet expanded with franchised and wholly owned rental outlets.

The company was eventually acquired by Transamerica Corporation, and then sold in 1986 in a leveraged buyout by Gibbons, Green and van Amerongen Ltd., along with management (led by CEO Clifton E. Haley) and selected investors. The company made its first public stock offering in 1987.

Team Rental Group purchased the public company in 1997 and took the name Budget Group. In 2002, it sold the company's assets to Cendant Corporation, which also owned Avis and in September 2006, Cendant Corporation separated into four independent companies. The real estate division became Realogy, Inc., its hospitality services division became Wyndham Worldwide, and the travel distribution services division became Travelport, Inc., an affiliate of The Blackstone Group.
