Sarah McLachlan...Angel ..sound track

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Halifax, the capital of the province of Nova Scotia forms together with Dartmouth and Bedford a coherent settlement area for well over a quarter million people. Dartmouth and Halifax are separated by the harbor and since the mid 18th century connected by a ferry.
In addition, two major toll bridges span the bay.
Since time immemorial, Halifax is a major port and thus it is not surprising that the largest military installation in Canada, the base of the Atlantic Fleet and the headquarters of the Coast Guard are settled here.
In the center of the harbor front you see the restored brick buildings and warehouses, the so-called Historic Properties. Together with the disused harbor buildings, they serve today as pubs as well as shopping malls, museums and galleries for a solvent customers. The exterior of the whole complex is true to the original. The Historic Properties are a much-visited attraction for tourists. Here one can watch the ships as well as glass blowers at work.
In the shopping arcades, the usual souvenirs are offered to the tourists. Those who seek patiently can find some rarities.
Always present is the emblem of the town, the bell tower set up at the beginning of the 19th century in front of the citadel on behalf of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. It should teach the citizens more punctuality.
The casino with an attached hotel next to the Historic Properties dominates the northern part of the harbor front.
The historic Alexander Keith Brewery, another masterfully restored part of the leisure mile dominates the southern part.
Sometimes you can see the sailing ship Bluenose II in the harbor. In the early 20th century, the original Bluenose held the international fishing trophy as the fastest North American sailing ship in its class for eighteen years. During World War II sailing ships lost their meaning; the Bluenose at first still served as a cargo ship and sank in 1946 in the West Indies. In the 60s, the Bluenose II was rebuilt to the original in Lunenburg and is now immortalized on the Canadian 10 cent coin.
Weather permitting, you can take a city tour with one of the original amphibious vehicles, the Harbour Hopper.

The Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island is one of the most beautiful scenic roads in North America.
During our journey the weather in Nova Scotia has changed. Instead of warm sun, we experience cold stormy rain. At the sandy beaches in Long Point Provincial park the wind sweeps us the sand over the skin. The weather nevertheless matched our ideas of Cape Breton.
A very well-developed scenic road, named after the explorer Giovanni Caboto, leads around the northern part of Cape Breton Island. From distinctive viewpoints you have an excellent view across the large bays and rugged coastline.
Inspired by the broad area of the country, Canada lays out its streets rarely as winding roads, so they are wide and slightly curved resulting in significant inclines and declines. The Cabot Trail is probably not quite harmless at snowfall.
Those who have time, should walk through the wildlife-rich and scenically very beautiful Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
During our visit, a large cruise liner just docks in the port of Sydney.
We drive back in the direction of the Halifax. The Canso Causeway is the only car connection between Cape Breton and the mainland. With 1.4 km of dam length and 66 m of depth it is regarded as the deepest dam bridge of the world.

Queen's Counsel (postnominal QC), known as King's Counsel (postnominal KC) during the reign of a male sovereign, are jurists appointed by letters patent to be one of Her [or His] Majesty's Counsel learned in the law. Membership exists in various Commonwealth jurisdictions around the world, while in some other jurisdictions the name has been replaced by one without monarchical connotations, such as "Senior Counsel" or "Senior Advocate" (holders of these titles have difficulty commanding the same salary rates as a Queen's Counsel). Queen's Counsel is a status, conferred by the Crown, that is recognised by courts. Members have the privilege of sitting within the Bar of court.
As members wear silk gowns of a particular design (see court dress), the award of Queen's or King's Counsel is known informally as taking silk, and hence QCs are often colloquially called silks. Appointments are made from within the legal profession on the basis of merit rather than a particular level of experience. However, successful applicants tend to be barristers, or (in Scotland) advocates, or solicitor advocates with 15 years' experience or more.

In 1871, it became the sixth province of Canada. Its Latin motto is Splendor sine occasu .

Prince Edward Island (PEI or P.E.I.; French: Île-du-Prince-Édouard, pronounced: [il dy pʁɛ̃s‿edwaʁ], Quebec French pronunciation: [ɪl d͡zy pʁẽs‿edwɑːʁ], Mi'kmaq: Epekwitk, Scottish Gaelic: Eilean a' Phrionnsa) is a Canadian province consisting of the main island itself, as well as other islands.
It is one of the three Maritime provinces and is the smallest province in both land area and population. The island has several informal names: "Garden of the Gulf" referring to the pastoral scenery and lush agricultural lands throughout the province; and "Birthplace of Confederation" or "Cradle of Confederation", referring to the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, although PEI did not join Confederation until 1873, when it became the seventh Canadian province. The backbone of the economy is farming, as it produces 25% of Canada's potatoes. Historically, PEI is one of Canada's older settlements and demographically still reflects older immigration to the country, with Celtic, Anglo Saxon and French last names being overwhelmingly dominant to this day.
