Work 2 S"
Silver “
Barres” are breaking the silence
as they slowly elevating and naturally clashing. Under the “Barres”, dancers sublimate into the fascinating movements through escaped movements from the strict basics in classical ballet. And, dancers control the extension of movements and the rhythm of music through their agile muscular and breathing hearts.
Lighting and stage are designed as a new way to show the fascinating movements from the dancers’ breathing hearts. For
Kim Yong Geol
Dance Theatre, every single attempt is a “work” to show the other way of performance and to enjoy itself as well.
Synopsis of "Work 2 S"
Before starting the series of "Work", as a choreographer, there were lots of questions that roaming my mind;
“What would be the scope of movements which contemporary ballet has been doing now and will be broad further? And, where would be the limit which the movements formulate in classical ballet?
And for dancers, what is the meaning of those movements?
Is it possible to represent something else not with emotional and dramatic story in the classical ballet but with only a movement of body? And, why are we trying the movements and why should we do?”
Since it has been under the elegant costume, gorgeous ornaments, and strictly basic movements, a ballet movement is hard to represent its own face.
I’ve been believed that dancers who learned classical ballet and movement have a power to make more than before.
Thus, I’ve been deleted the ‘Swan’ which shows off its beauty in my dream.
Everyone has never changing but wandering between the boundaries of familiarity…
Am I, too, trying to make a work as a way to escape the boundary of classical ballet that
I never occupied…
This shows killing the classical ballet…
But, I hope a new possibility by destroying itself.
