After threatening to sue the city’s police department, the Chicago Tribune has obtained official data tracking every time an officer has opened fire in the city over the past six years. Chicago Tribune publishes detailed analysis of police shootings

The Chicago Tribune has published a detailed analysis of police shootings in the city that catalogues the demographics of both the officers and the people shot, as well as the number of times officers fired on people. The six-year analysis that stretches back to 2010 digs deep, finding that police fired a total of 2,623 bullets at people in Chicago, hitting people in 235 of the shootings and missing another 200 altogether ... ....
