It’s not every day you get to sit down with two of your favorite actors for almost thirty minutes. But that’s what I got to do at this year’s
Sundance Film Festival with
Danny McBride and
Sam Rockwell. While the main reason I got to speak with them was for director
Jared Hess’ very funny new movie,
Don Verdean, during our wide ranging conversation they also talked about everything from the way their acting process has changed over the years to tons of future projects like
HBO’s
Vice Principals, the
Max Landis penned
Mr. Right with
Anna Kendrick, the animated
Sausage Party,
Barry Levinson’s
Rock the Kasbah, the
Billy Crudup vehicle
Life at These Speeds, and so much more. It’s a very in-depth interview that I’m confident you’ll like.
If you’re not familiar with Don Verdean, it’s a comedy from
Napolean Dynamite‘s
Jared and Jerusha Hess and it’s about a
Biblical archeologist (
Rockwell) hired to find relics in the
Holy Land by a local church pastor (McBride). While the mission starts out as a legitimate endeavor, after running into a number of problems, Rockwell is forced to get creative which leads to some funny situations featuring a number of outlandish characters. Don Verdean also stars
Jermaine Clement,
Amy Ryan, Danny McBride,
Leslie Bibb and
Will Forte. With
Lionsgate picking up the film at
Sundance, you can look for it in theaters later this year.
As usual,
I’ve time indexed the interview to provide an overview of the conversation which is below the video.
