What is “SIN”, (Definition in Dictionary) An immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law. "a sin in the eyes of God” 2. Heb. Khata, Gk Hamartia, “To miss the mark” 3. “SIN” is described in the Bible as transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4) 4. A rebellion against God (Deut 9:7; Joshua 1:18) 5. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. (Jam4:17) (Gen 3:1-7) “The Origin of Sin” (Rom 5:12) a. SIN was originated by Lucifer: (Isa 14:12-15) b. Introduced: to Eve and Adam. (Gen 3:1-7) c. Rational Approach“ You shall be like God.”( Gen 3:5) d. Intentional Approach: Your eyes will be opened; V 5 e. Emotional approach: ate and shared (Gen 3:6) The Nature of the First Sin LAW OF THE LORD: And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:16-17) Disobeyed the Law: Adam placed himself in opposition to God by obeying devil. Counseled by the devil and committed: (Gen 3:1-7) “Theological Results Of The Sin” in gen3:8-24 1. Total depravity of human nature and spiritual inability. 2. Loss of communion with God: He broke away from the real source of life and fellowship: Eph. 2:1,5,12; 4:18. 3. Consciousness of shame and guilt: (Gen 3:10) 4. Man was driven from paradise: So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. (Gen. 3:19) 5. Spiritual, Physical & Eternal death: (Gen. 3:19) Paul tells us that by one man death entered the world and passed on to all men, Rom. 5:12, and that the wages of sin is death, Rom. 6:23 Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ 1. Universality of sin: Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned. (Rom 5:12) 2. Forgiveness of our Sins: If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
