The Byrds - Allegheny College Meadville PA 4-28-1972 Crimson flames tied through my ears, rollin' high and mighty trap Countless fire in flaming road using ideas as my map "We'll meet on edges, soon, " said I, proud 'neath heated brow Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand at the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I'd become my enemy in the instant that I preach My existence led by confusion, boats, mutiny from stern to bow Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now My guard stood hard when abstract threats too noble to neglect Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect Good and bad, I define these terms quite clear, no doubt, somehow A...
The Byrds received some criticism in their early days for the number of Dylan songs they sang, but I feel that was unfair, as they didn't do straight covers - they generally brought their own distinctive sound to the track. I believe this is a prime example, their superb take on "My Back Pages." This is the single version (slightly shorter than the LP track), which I played constantly at the time.
Written by Bob Dylan. "Hollies Sing Dylan is a 1969 cover album where the Hollies sing Bob Dylan songs. It was also released in the US as Words and Music by Bob Dylan with a different cover but using the same band image and track order. First released on compact disc in West Germany in the late 1980s, it was not released in that format in the rest of Europe until 1993. For this issue, two bonus tracks, the single version of "Blowin' in the Wind" and a live version of "The Times They Are a-Changin'". A later remastered issue in 1999 added a third bonus track, a live version of "Blowin' in the Wind". This album was recorded and released following Graham Nash's departure from the band to join David Crosby and Stephen Stills in December 1968 after early sessions for a follow-up to the psychede...
My back pages from a few days ago. "My Back Pages" is a song written by Bob Dylan and included on his 1964 album Another Side of Bob Dylan. It is stylistically similar to his earlier folk protest songs and features Dylan's voice with an acoustic guitar accompaniment. However, its lyrics—in particular the refrain "Ah, but I was so much older then/I'm younger than that now"—have been interpreted as a rejection of Dylan's earlier personal and political idealism, illustrating his growing disillusionment with the 1960's folk protest movement with which he was associated, and his desire to move in a new direction. Although Dylan wrote the song in 1964, he did not perform it live until 1978. The American rock band The Byrds released a recording of "My Back Pages" on February 6, 1967, as part o...

LYRICS: Crimson flames tied through my ears Rollin' high and mighty traps Countless with fire on flaming roads Using ideas as my maps We'll meet on edges, soon, said I Proud 'neath heated brow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth Rip down all hate, I screamed Lies that life is black and white Spoke from my skull I dreamed Romantic facts of musketeers Foundationed deep, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand At the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I'd become my enemy In the instant that I preach Sisters fled by confusion boats Mutiny from stern to bow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm y...

Written by Bob Dylan
Crimson flames tied through my years
Rollin high and mighty trapped
Countless violent flaming roads
Using ideas as my map
";We'll meet on edges soon"; said I
Proud 'neath heated brow
Ah but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now
Half wracked prejudice leaped forth
";Rip down all hate"; I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic flanks of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow
Ah but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that nowIn a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
Sisters fled by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow
Ah but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now
My guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now
