VISIT MALAYSIA : THE COLOR & MULTI CULTURE IN KELANTAN DARUL NAIM
Kelantan is a state of Malaysia. The capital and royal seat is Kota Bharu. The Arabic honorific of the state is Darul Naim, ("The Blissful Abode"). Kelantan is positioned in the north-east of Peninsular Malaysia. It is bordered by Narathiwat Province of Thailand to the north, Terengganu to the south-east, Perak to the west, and Pahang to the south. To the north-east of Kelantan is the South China Sea. Kelantan is located in the north-eastern corner of the peninsula, Kelantan, which is said to translate as the "Land of Lightning" (see alternate theories below), is an agrarian state with lush paddy fields, rustic fishing villages and casuarina-lined beaches. Kelantan is home to some of the most ancient archaeological discoveries in Malaysia, including several prehistoric aboriginal settlements. Due to Kelantan's relative isolation and largely rural lifestyle, Kelantanese culture differs somewhat from Malay culture in the rest of the peninsula; this is reflected in the cuisine, arts, and the peculiar Kelantanese Malay dialect, which is unintelligible even for some speakers of standard Malay. ........................................ MALAYSIA (PERAK) - STATE OF HISTORY 2013
Perak, one of the 13 states of Malaysia, is the second largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. It borders Kedah and the Thai Yala Province to the north, Penang to the northwest; Kelantan and Pahang to the east, Selangor to the south, and the Straits of Malacca to the west. The state's administrative capital of Ipoh was known historically for tin-mining activities until the price of the metal dropped, severely affecting the state's economy. The royal capital, however remains at Kuala Kangsar, where the palace of the Sultan of Perak is located.
The Arabic honorific of Perak is Darul Ridzuan (Abode of Grace)

He went to live in a Buddhist temple, Wat Taingkrasaing Kharng Tbaung in Pochentong when he was only 8 years old. He was ordained as a novice Buddhist monk at the age of 12 in 1936. Hun Horm soon moved to reside at Wat Slaing Taing Roneam in Phum Pror Veng Phong Tek. He showed an aptitude for chanting (in Khmer known as smot) and moved to the city of Phnom Penh so he could learn more. In Phnom Penh, he lived at Wat Svaydangkhum. The abbot of the temple introduced him to Balat Un so he could learn chanting from a master. Balat is an honorific used in Cambodia to indicate respect. Balat Un had been a monk when he was younger. He was one of the best-known and most accomplished chanters in Cambodia at the time. He was then 60 years of age and lived by himself in a small house on stilts near the compound of Wat Sampov Meas. His wife had died and his two children had grown up and left home. He taught chanting to students who were sent to him from various temples around Phnom Penh, except Wat thoameyut (the Buddhist temples which belong to the Dharma Yutti) did not send any monk to learn to smot. Hun Horm went to Balat Un's house for lessons. He also practiced chanting at home in the temple and on the way to and from Balat Un's house. At Balat Un's instruction, Hun tied a piece of pork fat on thread, swallowed it and then pulled it backwards and forwards. Balat Un believed this would improve the quality of his voice. He also asked Hun to submerge himself under water to develop his lungs for chanting. Balat Un received so many requests from temples, villages and even from the royal palace to conduct chanting that he could not accept all of the invitations he received. When he felt that Hun Horm was accomplished in chanting, he recommended him in his place. Hun Horm was then invited to chant in many villages and towns in the provinces near Khat Khandal province. Hun Horm worked in the railway service in Battambang province from 1947 till the collapse of the Khmer Rouge Regime in 1979. Hun Horm's chronic TB (Robeng Suet) was successfully treated in refugee camp in Thailand and he came to Australia in 1983. Although he suffered from severe emphysema (Ket Haet) as he grew older, he wanted to record his chanting about the "Life of Buddha" using an old tape recorder. As his flat was close to the road and under the flight pass, you can sometimes hear noise in the background. Hun Horm passed away in 2007 at the age of 83.- published: 03 Aug 2013
