This is my first time ever in the cab of a SD70MAC. If I sound very goofy and nerdy in this video, it's because if you are true railfan you can't help but get totally ecstatic when you're given the opportunity to get in the engineer's seat of one of these beasts. The story here was, I was taking pictures on the side of the road and the engineer invited me in! I was one lucky guy! Anyway enjoy!!!
May 10th, 2014 was the 7th annual National Train Day. The nation-wide celebration was started by Amtrak in 2008, and commemorates the anniversary of the completion of America's first Transcontinental Railroad in 1869. Although the day features planned events in larger cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, St Louis, Washington, DC, and others, it's always just "business as usual" in downtown Ottumwa, Iowa, where I've watched trains each year since the first National Train Day. This year, I decided to make it an all-day celebration, and saw every train that passed through town from 6 am - 9 pm. In this video, we see one of the many eastbound coal trains that came through in the late morning, viewed just off the platform west of the Ottumwa Amtrak station. This train is powered by BNSF 9810 (SD70MAC), BNSF 9384 (SD70ACe), and pushing on the rear, BNSF 6434 (ES44AC).
BNSF had main #2 closed between CP 2888 and the IC&E; RRX. Eastbounds, like this train, had to cross over to main #1 and back again. In the distance at the beginning of the video, you can see the train crossing over from Main 1 to 2 at the IC&E; RRX to the west. The train picks up speed once it's through the switches.

We went to Otis one fine summer morning to hope upon a train going east with EMD's for two great reasons. 1: EMD. EB train are in full throttle going up the hill. 2: Good morning sunlight!
We heard a K3 or sorts off in the distace, and with a WB train just passing us, we knew to prepare ourselfs for another train. After the last cars pass, the whinning turbo and screaming radiator fans of a 710 engine broke the silence. With a noise distinction from an SD70MAC as opposed to any other EMD locomotive, we where satisfied. A pair of EMD SD70MAC's claw up Otis Hill with a 130 car loaded coal train. The sound of these things cannot be beat by any other noise in the world. With a great horn show at the first location, the chase was on. We catch him 6 times all in Run-8, putting a big smile on faces this hot day. This was one great welcome to summer.

HO Kato CSX SD70MAC Review
hey guys this is a train review on my Kato ho scale sd70mac in CSX colors. It came in DCC but i Added a DCC decoder to it, I chose not to add sound though. It runs very smooth at all speeds and is a powerful puller. I need to get a handrail set to make some repairs, If that is done then there is a good chance you will see it again sometime on my ho scale layout again. -

TFM 1633 East - a Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana SD70MAC on 12-23-2014
A TFM EMD SD70MAC followed by a KCS "Southern Belle" SD70ACe power a 632 ethanol train to the east along the Canadian Pacific Chicago Subdivision. The train passes through some long, near winter solstice shadows at New Lebanon, Illinois. The MP 53 detector, about 2 miles to the east, reported a defect that had the train stopping in the town of Hampshire. Blocking the local crossings for about 20 minutes. This is my first encounter with a TFM engine leading. Don't know much about them other than online research has them now owned by the Kansas City Southern De Mexico. A rare day of some sunshine compared to the last few weeks. So it was a no-brainer to try and get this one. I've some other gloomy day videos from recent days but I thought I get this video out to break up the overcast mon... -

We went to Otis one fine summer morning to hope upon a train going east with EMD's for two great reasons. 1: EMD. EB train are in full throttle going up the hill. 2: Good morning sunlight!
We heard a K3 or sorts off in the distace, and with a WB train just passing us, we knew to prepare ourselfs for another train. After the last cars pass, the whinning turbo and screaming radiator fans of a 710 engine broke the silence. With a noise distinction from an SD70MAC as opposed to any other EMD locomotive, we where satisfied. A pair of EMD SD70MAC's claw up Otis Hill with a 130 car loaded coal train. The sound of these things cannot be beat by any other noise in the world. With a great horn show at the first location, the chase was on. We catch him 6 times all in Run-8, putting a big smile on faces this hot day. This was one great welcome to summer.

hey guys this is a train review on my Kato ho scale sd70mac in CSX colors. It came in DCC but i Added a DCC decoder to it, I chose not to add sound though. It runs very smooth at all speeds and is a powerful puller. I need to get a handrail set to make some repairs, If that is done then there is a good chance you will see it again sometime on my ho scale layout again.

A TFM EMD SD70MAC followed by a KCS "Southern Belle" SD70ACe power a 632 ethanol train to the east along the Canadian Pacific Chicago Subdivision. The train passes through some long, near winter solstice shadows at New Lebanon, Illinois.
The MP 53 detector, about 2 miles to the east, reported a defect that had the train stopping in the town of Hampshire. Blocking the local crossings for about 20 minutes.
This is my first encounter with a TFM engine leading. Don't know much about them other than online research has them now owned by the Kansas City Southern De Mexico.
A rare day of some sunshine compared to the last few weeks. So it was a no-brainer to try and get this one.
I've some other gloomy day videos from recent days but I thought I get this video out to break up the overcast monotony.
