One of the advantages of using PDFpen is that it's multi-platform. There's versions not only for the Mac, but there's also a version that works on the iPad and iPhone. And because PDFpen uses iCloud, the documents synchronize across all 3 platforms very easily. Let me show you how. First I've got my iPad and iPhone on the screen right now. To turn on iCloud syncing you need to go to the tools menu and in the settings, you can scroll down. You can see the section right here where I've got iCloud. You can do the same thing under the phone, under the tools as well.
Once I've got that turned on, then documents will sync automatically. For example, I'm going to open up this document right here on my iPad. And let's say I want to go ahead and perform an annotation on it. I'm going to use the squiggle tool with the orange color, and I'm going to draw a circle around the phone number. Once I'm done, I'm going to back out of that document and iCloud is automatically going to update itself with this new version of the document with the annotation applied. This all happens very quickly. When I open the document on my iPhone, you can see the annotation is already there.
Now I can have a little bit more fun, so I'm going to go ahead and annotate it again with another squiggle. I'm going to get a thicker line, and I'm going to put it right under this section. Then I'm going to back out of that, and my iPhone is going to start updating iCloud with the same information. Now I'm going to go over to my Mac. I'm looking at the root directory of iCloud. You can see on the finder there's this built in PDFpenPro folder. This is because I use PDFpenPro instead of PDFpen, but if you had PDFpen on your Mac, you'd have a similar folder.
It's got the little icon on it, and you know that's the official iCloud folder that's synchronizing these documents. When I double tap on that you're going to see that I've got the same files here that I had on my iPad and iPhone. When I go ahead and open up this document with PDFpen, you're going to see it's got those same annotations that I did on my iPad and iPhone. They automatically synchronized over iCloud. I didn't have to lift a finger, and the changes just showed up. This is a great feature. I use it all the time.
PDFpen can also sync the documents via Dropbox. I'm going to go up here to the documents tab on the iPad and say add a folder via Dropbox. I've got this PDFpen sync folder already selected, so I'll tap that. I'm going to do the same thing over on the iPhone and now PDFpen is hooked up to a folder in my Dropbox that's got this one PDF file in it. If I go ahead and tap it, once it's done downloading. It is going to open up the file and allow me to make further annotations to it. So I'll go ahead and do that real quick, this time with blue. And we'll upload that to Dropbox. Then I can go over to the iPhone. Open up the same document, and you'll see that blue annotation that I just made on the iPad is already available on the iPhone. And for giggles, I can just go over to the Mac and I'll see that same annotation opens up on the Mac as well. This single document is syncing through Dropbox to all of my devices with PDFpen.

So, if you are like me, your Apple Photos library is fairly large, but you also like to make sure you have it well and truly backed up in case anything untoward should occur. My Macbook only has a 250gb hard drive, and I need access to more than 250gb worth of files in my Dropbox on a regular basis, so I keep it on a 2tb external hard drive. As my Apple Photos library has increased in size I decided it would be good to move it to an external hard drive, and even better if I could move it into my Dropbox. That would mean not only do I have the iCloud backup of my photos and videos, but I would also have a Dropbox backup as well.
It's easy to move the library itself, but if you want to connect it to iCloud it is a little bit more finicky. Here is how I did it.

Google Drive
Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service created by Google. It allows users to store files in the cloud, share files, and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with collaborators. Google Drive encompasses Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, an office suite that permits collaborative editing of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, forms, and more.
Google Drive was launched on April 24, 2012 and had 240 million monthly active users as of October 2014.
Client
For Google Drive to synchronize files between the user's computer and Google Drive storage, the Google Drive 'client' software must be running on the user's computer. The client communicates with Google Drive to cause updates on one side to be propagated to the other so they both normally contain the same data.
Google Drive client software is available for the following devices: PCs running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 with NTFS partitions, or Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher; Android smartphones and tablets with Android 2.1 (Eclair) or higher; iPhones and iPads with iOS 5.0 or higher. Newest iterations of Google Drive client software do not appear to work properly under Snow Leopard (OS 10.6), returning a bad GPU message and not allowing the user to access the minibar icon. Replacing the newer client with an older version appears to fix the problem although automatic updates may mean its recurrence.

Cloud storage
Cloud storage is a model of data storage in which the digital data is stored in logical pools, the physical storage spans multiple servers (and often locations), and the physical environment is typically owned and managed by a hosting company. These cloud storage providers are responsible for keeping the data available and accessible, and the physical environment protected and running. Photos (application)
Photos is a photo management and editing application developed by Apple. It was released as a bundled app in iOS 8 on September 17, 2014–replacing the Camera Roll–and released as a bundled app to OS X Yosemite users in OS X 10.10.3 update on April 8, 2015.
History
In June 2014, it was announced that Apple planned to discontinue programs iPhoto and Aperture, to be replaced by a new program, Photos, at some point in 2015. Photos was included with OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, released as a free update to users on April 8, 2015.
Features
Photos is intended to be less complex than its predecessor. Photos are organized by "moment", a combination of time and location metadata attached to the photo.
Editing
Photos tucks complex editing tools into several simple controls by default. Photos also "reward curiosity and additional clicks with ever more granular manipulation capabilities". A one-click automatic enhance button is also available.
iCloud Photo Library
iCloud Photo Library is heavily integrated into the program, keeping photos and videos in sync with various Apple devices designated by the user (such as Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches), including edits and album structures. Storage can be bought in a number of tiers, starting at 5 GB (free) and going up to 1 TB. While iCloud integration is still optional, it is much more core to the program than it was with iPhoto.

Scan receipts, business cards, documents and more. https://smilesoftware.com/pdfpen-scan In this video: Turning on iCloud storage and sync on iPad/iPhone, setting up a Dropbox sync folder, and editing a PDF on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. ----- Transcript ----- One of the advantages of using PDFpen is that it's multi-platform. There's versions not only for the Mac, but there's also a version that works on the iPad and iPhone. And because PDFpen uses iCloud, the documents synchronize across all 3 platforms very easily. Let me show you how. First I've got my iPad and iPhone on the screen right now. To turn on iCloud syncing you need to go to the tools menu and in the settings, you can scroll down. You can see the section right here where I've got iCloud. You can do the same thing under the phone, under the tools as well. Once I've got that turned on, then documents will sync automatically. For example, I'm going to open up this document right here on my iPad. And let's say I want to go ahead and perform an annotation on it. I'm going to use the squiggle tool with the orange color, and I'm going to draw a circle around the phone number. Once I'm done, I'm going to back out of that document and iCloud is automatically going to update itself with this new version of the document with the annotation applied. This all happens very quickly. When I open the document on my iPhone, you can see the annotation is already there. Now I can have a little bit more fun, so I'm going to go ahead and annotate it again with another squiggle. I'm going to get a thicker line, and I'm going to put it right under this section. Then I'm going to back out of that, and my iPhone is going to start updating iCloud with the same information. Now I'm going to go over to my Mac. I'm looking at the root directory of iCloud. You can see on the finder there's this built in PDFpenPro folder. This is because I use PDFpenPro instead of PDFpen, but if you had PDFpen on your Mac, you'd have a similar folder. It's got the little icon on it, and you know that's the official iCloud folder that's synchronizing these documents. When I double tap on that you're going to see that I've got the same files here that I had on my iPad and iPhone. When I go ahead and open up this document with PDFpen, you're going to see it's got those same annotations that I did on my iPad and iPhone. They automatically synchronized over iCloud. I didn't have to lift a finger, and the changes just showed up. This is a great feature. I use it all the time. PDFpen can also sync the documents via Dropbox. I'm going to go up here to the documents tab on the iPad and say add a folder via Dropbox. I've got this PDFpen sync folder already selected, so I'll tap that. I'm going to do the same thing over on the iPhone and now PDFpen is hooked up to a folder in my Dropbox that's got this one PDF file in it. If I go ahead and tap it, once it's done downloading. It is going to open up the file and allow me to make further annotations to it. So I'll go ahead and do that real quick, this time with blue. And we'll upload that to Dropbox. Then I can go over to the iPhone. Open up the same document, and you'll see that blue annotation that I just made on the iPad is already available on the iPhone. And for giggles, I can just go over to the Mac and I'll see that same annotation opens up on the Mac as well. So, if you are like me, your Apple Photos library is fairly large, but you also like to make sure you have it well and truly backed up in case anything untoward should occur. My Macbook only has a 250gb hard drive, and I need access to more than 250gb worth of files in my Dropbox on a regular basis, so I keep it on a 2tb external hard drive. As my Apple Photos library has increased in size I decided it would be good to move it to an external hard drive, and even better if I could move it into my Dropbox. That would mean not only do I have the iCloud backup of my photos and videos, but I would also have a Dropbox backup as well. It's easy to move the library itself, but if you want to connect it to iCloud it is a little bit more finicky. Here is how I did it. -

One of the advantages of using PDFpen is that it's multi-platform. There's versions not only for the Mac, but there's also a version that works on the iPad and iPhone. And because PDFpen uses iCloud, the documents synchronize across all 3 platforms very easily. Let me show you how. First I've got my iPad and iPhone on the screen right now. To turn on iCloud syncing you need to go to the tools menu and in the settings, you can scroll down. You can see the section right here where I've got iCloud. You can do the same thing under the phone, under the tools as well.
Once I've got that turned on, then documents will sync automatically. For example, I'm going to open up this document right here on my iPad. And let's say I want to go ahead and perform an annotation on it. I'm going to use the squiggle tool with the orange color, and I'm going to draw a circle around the phone number. Once I'm done, I'm going to back out of that document and iCloud is automatically going to update itself with this new version of the document with the annotation applied. This all happens very quickly. When I open the document on my iPhone, you can see the annotation is already there.
Now I can have a little bit more fun, so I'm going to go ahead and annotate it again with another squiggle. I'm going to get a thicker line, and I'm going to put it right under this section. Then I'm going to back out of that, and my iPhone is going to start updating iCloud with the same information. Now I'm going to go over to my Mac. I'm looking at the root directory of iCloud. You can see on the finder there's this built in PDFpenPro folder. This is because I use PDFpenPro instead of PDFpen, but if you had PDFpen on your Mac, you'd have a similar folder.
It's got the little icon on it, and you know that's the official iCloud folder that's synchronizing these documents. When I double tap on that you're going to see that I've got the same files here that I had on my iPad and iPhone. When I go ahead and open up this document with PDFpen, you're going to see it's got those same annotations that I did on my iPad and iPhone. They automatically synchronized over iCloud. I didn't have to lift a finger, and the changes just showed up. This is a great feature. I use it all the time.
PDFpen can also sync the documents via Dropbox. I'm going to go up here to the documents tab on the iPad and say add a folder via Dropbox. I've got this PDFpen sync folder already selected, so I'll tap that. I'm going to do the same thing over on the iPhone and now PDFpen is hooked up to a folder in my Dropbox that's got this one PDF file in it. If I go ahead and tap it, once it's done downloading. It is going to open up the file and allow me to make further annotations to it. So I'll go ahead and do that real quick, this time with blue. And we'll upload that to Dropbox. Then I can go over to the iPhone. Open up the same document, and you'll see that blue annotation that I just made on the iPad is already available on the iPhone. And for giggles, I can just go over to the Mac and I'll see that same annotation opens up on the Mac as well. This single document is syncing through Dropbox to all of my devices with PDFpen.

So, if you are like me, your Apple Photos library is fairly large, but you also like to make sure you have it well and truly backed up in case anything untoward...
So, if you are like me, your Apple Photos library is fairly large, but you also like to make sure you have it well and truly backed up in case anything untoward should occur. My Macbook only has a 250gb hard drive, and I need access to more than 250gb worth of files in my Dropbox on a regular basis, so I keep it on a 2tb external hard drive. As my Apple Photos library has increased in size I decided it would be good to move it to an external hard drive, and even better if I could move it into my Dropbox. That would mean not only do I have the iCloud backup of my photos and videos, but I would also have a Dropbox backup as well.
It's easy to move the library itself, but if you want to connect it to iCloud it is a little bit more finicky. Here is how I did it.

Like countless others, I use email daily, but it’s a love/hate relationship because of the dangers of viruses, trojans, phishing, spam etc. I think it is unreasonable to expect the average person to be able to tell a valid email from one that is dangerous ... Email is no longer fit for purpose ... Spam filtering ... It’s better to upload a file to Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Google’s Gdrive or a similar service and then email someone the link ... ....
