Sterling Archer

Sterling Malory Archer (often simply referred to as Archer) is the title character and the main protagonist of the American animated comedy series Archer. For the first four seasons, he is a special agent of the intelligence agency ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service), working at the agency's main headquarters in New York City. After ISIS is shut down by the FBI, Archer joins some of his former co-workers in a life of crime, trying to sell a tonne of cocaine. Archer was created by series creator Adam Reed, who began working on the character shortly after the conclusion of the television series Frisky Dingo. The character is voiced by actor H. Jon Benjamin.

Largely influenced by Ian Fleming's vision of James Bond, Archer has been described as pompous, misogynist, egotistical, and attractive. The character is highly promiscuous, often verging on hypersexual proportions, and is a heavy alcoholic. His habitual use of alcohol can be seen as a parallel to Bond, who was an ardent drinker and smoker throughout much of the James Bond novels. A portion of the show's plot has been devoted to Archer searching for his biological father, which has resulted in growing tensions between him and his mother Malory Archer.

Archery

Archery is the sport, practice or skill of using a bow to propel arrows. The word comes from the Latin arcus. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity. A person who participates in archery is typically called an archer or a bowman, and a person who is fond of or an expert at archery is sometimes called a toxophilite.

History

The bow seems to have been invented in the later Paleolithic or early Mesolithic periods. The oldest signs of its use in Europe come from the Stellmoor in the Ahrensburg valley north of Hamburg, Germany and dates from the late Paleolithic, about 10,000–9000 BC. The arrows were made of pine and consisted of a mainshaft and a 15–20 centimetres (5.9–7.9 inches) long fore shaft with a flint point. There are no definite earlier bows; previous pointed shafts are known, but may have been launched by spear-throwers rather than bows. The oldest bows known so far come from the Holmegård swamp in Denmark. Bows eventually replaced the spear-thrower as the predominant means for launching shafted projectiles, on every continent except Australasia, though spear-throwers persisted alongside the bow in parts of the Americas, notably Mexico and among the Inuit.

The Channel Frederator Network is an American animation Multi Channel Network (MCN) founded by Fred Seibert and managed by Frederator Networks.

In 2012, Frederator Studios began producing television-quality cartoons for the Internet as part of the $100 Million YouTube Original Channel Initiative, and has since produced two successful series and many successful shorts for its YouTube Channel Cartoon Hangover, including Pendleton Ward’s “Bravest Warriors” and Natasha Allegri’s “Bee and PuppyCat”. As of September 2014, Channel Frederator Network has generated more than one billion views, and averages more than 60 million video views a month, across its network of more than 700 channels.

Among its leading channels are FilmCow (just under 1 million subscribers), Cartoon Hangover (over 1 million subscribers), and recently added Simon's Cat (just over 2,800,000 subscribers) [4], which is YouTube’s #2 animated channel. Once part of the network, Channel Frederator handles all advertising and distribution for its channels on YouTube, promoting the show and its licensed merchandise; the network also provides on-demand consulting, and weekly events for open to all network members.

Conan (talk show)

Conan is a late-night talk show and special travel show airing each Monday through Thursday on TBS in the United States. The hour-long show premiered on November 8, 2010, and is hosted by writer, comedian and performer Conan O'Brien.

Describing itself as a traditional late-night talk show, Conan draws its comedy from recent news stories, political figures and prominent celebrities, as well as aspects of the show itself. The show typically opens with a monologue from Conan O'Brien relating to recent headlines and frequently features exchanges with his sidekick, Andy Richter, and members of the audience. The next segment is devoted to a celebrity interview, with guests ranging from actors and musicians to media personalities and political figures. The show then closes with either a musical or comedy performance.

On TBS, Conan airs Monday through Thursday beginning at 11:00 p.m. eastern time. Comedian and actor Andy Richter continues his role as sidekick to O'Brien, and as the show's announcer. Conan's long-time house band continues with the host under the new moniker Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band, with Max Weinberg being replaced as bandleader by guitarist Jimmy Vivino and as drummer by regular substitute James Wormworth, both of whom regularly substituted for Weinberg during his brief departures.

Conan O'Brien

Conan Christopher O'Brien (born April 18, 1963) is an American television host, comedian, writer, producer, musician, and voice actor. He is best known for hosting several late-night talk shows; since 2010 he has hosted Conan on the cable channel TBS. O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, and was raised in an Irish Catholic family. He served as president of The Harvard Lampoon while attending Harvard University, and was a writer for the sketch comedy series Not Necessarily the News.

After writing for several comedy shows in Los Angeles, he joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live. O'Brien was a writer and producer for The Simpsons for two seasons until he was commissioned by NBC to take over David Letterman's position as host of Late Night in 1993. A virtual unknown to the public, O'Brien's initial time on Late Night tenure received unfavorable reviews and remained on a multiweek renewal cycle during its early years. The show generally improved over time and was highly regarded by the time of his departure in 2009. Afterwards, O'Brien relocated from New York to Los Angeles to host his own incarnation of The Tonight Show for seven months until network politics prompted a host change in 2010.
