Association Tikal:
The Children of
San Felipe de Jesus
Improving the lives of children through love, food & education.
The Tikal Association is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2008 in
Antigua, Guatemala with the goal of improving the lives of underprivileged children through love, food and education.
100% of your donations go to the needs of the children.
There are many needy children awaiting our help in San Felipe de Jesus and other villages surrounding Antigua. We feed malnourished children by giving them two daily meals in our
After School learning program along with monthly food assistance by providing dry goods to their families. One teacher is dedicated to working with the children to strengthen their formal and informal learning by offering homework help and social skills training. Additionally, we assist with medical services, dental check-ups, school supplies, shoes and more while providing them a safe environment of care and support.
The Tikal Association was founded by the
Director and teachers of
Don Pedro de Alvarado Spanish Language School in Antigua, Guatemala. Don Pedro de Alvarado is one of the oldest schools in
Antigua with over 35 years of experience and is authorized by the
Minister of Education of
Guatemala.
Help us feed the malnourished children from the village of San Felipe de Jesus. Our goal is to provide them with two daily meals, as well as to strengthen their learning through giving support for their schoolwork. Our specialist teacher guides them through lessons in
English,
French, and basic computer skills.
Beans Against Child Labor
Each month we give beans and other staple foods to local parents; this extra help keeps them from sending their children to work in the fields, thereby providing the children with the opportunity to study and have a better future.
How can you volunteer assistance to the Association?
# 1: Go with your teacher (outside of class time) to the market to buy beans and other foods that are preserved, such as rice, sugar, salt, cereals, milk powder, and oil. This helps us to nurture the children and give their parents extra monthly food in their own homes.
# 2: Have lunch together with us and with the children, helping with a modest fee of $5
# 3: Eat in the cafeteria. All the profits made in the cafeteria are for the children.
# 4: Take
Spanish lessons via Skype at $ 9.00 an hour; half the profit is for the teacher, and the other half for the children.
# 5:
Sponsor a child with a gift of
US$ 25.00 per month. Each sponsor will be entitled to two free hours of Spanish instruction per month via Skype, as well as having the opportunity to speak directly to the sponsored child.
# 6:
Volunteer a little of your own time to help the children with their math or computer skills, or their English or
French language studies. You don’t need much experience; what these children need is your care and support.
There are more than 50 poor children in the village of San Felipe de Jesus waiting for our help. Our goal is to integrate them into society and to help secure their future. This is possible only with your help.
Thank you very much.
