Candle Powered Heater DIY Space Heater. Clay/Terracotta pots absorb the thermal energy of the candles and convert it into radiant space heat. Reaches temperatures of 160F to 180F. Heater stays hot for hours. use caution, the inner chamber can reach 500F. heats a small area very effectively. uses 1 to 3 candles or more. could also use small alcohol lamps instead of the candles. of note: heater works by trapping and concentrating the heat that would normally just rise to the ceiling and quickly dissipate in the surrounding air. once pots have warmed up they stay hot for hours. I built both 2 and 3 pot heaters. the 2 pot heater seems much more effective (if you are using large thick pots). if the pots are smaller then 3 pots may be better.

Candle Powered Heater! (Improved!!) DIY Radiant Space heater! (with fan!!). Easy DIY. Produces 170F+ Temps. Since about half of all the heat from a clay pot heater is typically concentrated at the top of the heater, it just quickly rises straight to the ceiling and is "in effect" lost (or at least "not felt"). this new design attempts to tackle that problem by directing the hot air where you want it (in your personal living space, not at the ceiling). in this new design a vent tube and fan combination is used to trap all of the heat not radiated outward from the sides of the pot and directs that heat into the living space!. fan is a standard 80mm computer case fan (handles the heat fine). the bolts are 2" long (5/16 hex bolts) *not 2 1/2" as stated in video although 2 1/2" or 3" ones should work fine. vent tube used is 5" but buy the right size to fit the flower pot you have.

After watching a review of the Army Multi-Fuel Yukon M1950 space heater, I started shopping for it. I stumbled upon the current modern replacement of the army's arctic space heater, while shopping for the M1950. A bit heavier and bulkier than its grand-dad heater, but it claims to be more fuel efficient, safer, easier to clean and maintain. Since about half of all the heat from a clay pot heater is typically concentrated at the top of the heater, it just quickly rises straight to the ceiling and is "in effect" lost (or at least "not felt"). this new design attempts to tackle that problem by directing the hot air where you want it (in your personal living space, not at the ceiling). in this new design a vent tube and fan combination is used to trap all of the heat not radiated outward from the sides of the pot and directs that heat into the living space!. fan is a standard 80mm computer case fan (handles the heat fine). the bolts are 2" long (5/16 hex bolts) *not 2 1/2" as stated in video although 2 1/2" or 3" ones should work fine. vent tube used is 5" but buy the right size to fit the flower pot you have.

We can set it to maintain a specific temp for the entire room constantly. -We also have our not-fancy heating pad up under the plastic tub set on medium or high intermittently to get their temps up higher. - They are in our office space right now because the weather has been so erratic.
- We have a space heater (all ready owned) in the room to maintain a constant temperature. We can set it to maintain a specific temp for the entire room constantly.
-We also have our not-fancy heating pad up under the plastic tub set on medium or high intermittently to get their temps up higher. It covers about 1/3 of the bottom right now so they can situate themselves. It has its cover on plus a diaper flat between just for an extra layer.
- The total for this setup was under $50. That includes a few weeks worth of pine straw and food, the tub, tube feeders, and the chicks.
- We got them from a small, local farm not a feed store so they are just "barnyard mixes"
- We will be building the coop ourselves and learning as we go!

Wall Mounted Space Heater Installation Video
Step by Step installation video of the surface mount Stieber Eltron 120 Volt heater. This heater has good reviews however, results vary widely depending on space being heated. Vaulted ceilings, many windows, poor insulation are conditions that will make this heater somewhat useless. Secondly, a ceiling fan does make a substantial difference with circulating the heat from this unit. They do make a 220 Volt model, but I'm unsure how much more hot air it outputs in comparison. Even looking past the fact that most modern heaters are plastic, they are unsafe because they have cheap, flimsy switches, thin power cords that are barely capable of handling the current draw, cheap unreliable motors that can fail and cause the entire heater to quickly overheat, and safety switches that have an extremely high failure rate. Not to mention that they are made in a Chinese sweatshop by employees making a dollar an hour and barely surviving.
The reason for this is MARKETING. The public LOVES to hear keywords such as "efficient" and "safe" and these words SELL. In today's modern society, people tend to blindly believe whatever they are exposed to as far as advertising, but reject proven facts and absolute test results.
*A small personal heater is great for warming yourself while in a cold office or an area in your home where you would like to sit and be warm. This isn't what this video is about. We're talking space heaters that are designed to heat an entire ROOM.*
Here are the results of our NEW vs VINTAGE space heater test, where we compared output air temperature to power consumption. We did not test the durability of the heaters, but I think it's safe to assume that one modern cheap heater made of plastic is NOT AS DURABLE as any one of four quality heaters made of sturdy steel.

Vaulted ceilings, many windows, poor insulation are conditions that will make this heater somewhat useless. Secondly, a ceiling fan does make a substantial difference with circulating the heat from this unit. They do make a 220 Volt model, but I'm unsure how much more hot air it outputs in comparison. Fahrenheit units also had positive reviews. Stieber Eltron 120 Volt Surface mount wall heater.

A fan heater is a heater that works by using a fan to pass air over a heat source (e.g. a heating element). This heats up the air, which then leaves the heater, warming up the surrounding room. They can heat an enclosed space such as a room faster than a heater without fan, but, like any fan, create audible noise.
Electric fan heaters can be less expensive to buy than other heaters due to simple construction. The fan carries heat away from the device, which can be made smaller. without overheating. The relatively small amount of electricity used to operate the fan is partly converted to additional heat, so that efficiency is not a problem. All heaters without external ventilation are nearly 100% efficient (minus a relatively small amount of energy used to operate the fan, indicator lights, etc.), meaning that almost all energy input goes into the room as heat. However, if the efficiency of generating the electricity is taken into account, the overal efficiency decreases significantly.
Electric fan heaters are more expensive to run than fuel powered heaters due to the cost of electricity. This makes them best suited to occasional use rather than as regularly used heat sources.
Externally vented non-electrical (combustion powered) fan heaters lose some heat to the outdoors, and are thus less efficient. These are used where it is necessary not to release the fumes of combustion into the heated area.
